The only anomaly I encountered on my 2006 Outback was the presence of two additional clips that must be removed before the fender can be “gently pried” away from the car body. This was pointed out by another viewer. Thanks to your detailed instructions I know have new headlamp assemblies installed on my Outback.

On the 2009 the metal brackets holding the headlights in place were replaced with plastic with bolts in slightly different positions. Also there are additional plastic trim fasteners hidden inside the wheel wells behind the wheel well shroud.
Before starting this make sure youhave replacement bolts most of them will just break off unless you are real careful I even soaked mine with penetrating oi for a day before beginning. Also have a supply of the bumper and body trim fastners to replace the ones that break.
Does this headlight assembly fit a 2005 Outback, I clicked the link in he description and it was for a 2006 Outback and the 1aau site said it wouldn’t fit since it was 2006. I need to get some clearer lights so I can see at night. Mine are so foggy and it’s internal as detailer friend tried to polish them.
That's for just the bulb. This is for removing the whole light assembly. I'd appreciate if you can show removing the whoke assembly without removing bumpers, though.

I BET THE COMPLETE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLYs are Pricey.
For reference, there's another plastic clip behind each wheel well and you're going to damage the bumper if you don't get em.
I just popped out the intake for the air filter and then change it. requires quite a bit less removal of parts.

well now i think i may just leave the lights in and mask off the rest of the vehicle when i restore the headlights 😅
