Thanks for showing all those connectors behind the head unit. I think the connector which you said you didn't use is actually the one I need to hook into for the steering wheel controls, but I couldn't figure out what the other connections on it went to and what the other side of the plug would be. Seeing that you didn't even use it makes me feel better about fabricating a connector that only grabs the one connection I need off it.
Tough to video and do the install all at once! Great approach to this topic. Just watched to see how it's done. Thanks for the entertainment and instruction.
Late to this party, but, thanks! I was planning to do this to my wife's 2006 Outback but the LL Bean edition has dual climate control which is slightly different. I can't find a JDM bezel that has the correct controls and the knobs aren't offset in the dual climate control version (different controls). That said, the links you provided are very useful. Thanks again.
Hi! I have a 2008 Outback with factory navigation. I bought the car used a week ago, and the navigation screen is broken. I'm looking to replace it entirely with an aftermarket one rather than repair the factory screen (because that one doesn't have Bluetooth and other features that the aftermarket ones tend to have). Do you know if it's possible to install it in the area above the climate controls? I would hate to have a dead screen on top and a working one on bottom.
The best way to solve this problem with holes on the sides of JDM frame - to buy European factory Subaru restyle (2006-2009) multimedia with separated HVAC on the back and then buy LH aftermarket 2din frame
So happy there is a video for this 🤩. Does anyone know the measurements of the space for the screen? The kit doesn't come with a screen nor does it say what size. Thank you in advance

But the wiring harness is what I wanted to know more about. did you ever find out the wiring harness info from the individual who sold you the stereo? And if so could you please display that info or send it to me so I can go ahead and start putting in a stereo into my car. CANT WAIT!!! Thanks.

Hi, Quick question from a Subaru owner with no stereo install experience. When you connect the 14 pin harness wires to the HU harness do you match up all colours? eg. white to white, gray to gray, etc.. OR are the speaker connections typically different colours? Thanks for your help.
Probably too late to help you, but if anyone else has this same question, the 14 pin harness and the HU harness should each come with a chart that indicates what each color of wire is. A lot of them are pretty standard (power, accessory/switched power, ground, front and rear speakers) and will generally be the same, but different manufacturers sometimes pick different colors for the less standard stuff like parking brake signal, steering wheel controls, etc.
