    Thanks for showing all those connectors behind the head unit. I think the connector which you said you didn't use is actually the one I need to hook into for the steering wheel controls, but I couldn't figure out what the other connections on it went to and what the other side of the plug would be. Seeing that you didn't even use it makes me feel better about fabricating a connector that only grabs the one connection I need off it.

    Late to this party, but, thanks! I was planning to do this to my wife's 2006 Outback but the LL Bean edition has dual climate control which is slightly different. I can't find a JDM bezel that has the correct controls and the knobs aren't offset in the dual climate control version (different controls).

    Hi! I have a 2008 Outback with factory navigation. I bought the car used a week ago, and the navigation screen is broken. I'm looking to replace it entirely with an aftermarket one rather than repair the factory screen (because that one doesn't have Bluetooth and other features that the aftermarket ones tend to have). Do you know if it's possible to install it in the area above the climate controls? I would hate to have a dead screen on top and a working one on bottom.

    Hi, Quick question from a Subaru owner with no stereo install experience. When you connect the 14 pin harness wires to the HU harness do you match up all colours? eg. white to white, gray to gray, etc.. OR are the speaker connections typically different colours? Thanks for your help.

    • @dirtywhitellama
      @dirtywhitellama 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably too late to help you, but if anyone else has this same question, the 14 pin harness and the HU harness should each come with a chart that indicates what each color of wire is. A lot of them are pretty standard (power, accessory/switched power, ground, front and rear speakers) and will generally be the same, but different manufacturers sometimes pick different colors for the less standard stuff like parking brake signal, steering wheel controls, etc.

      On 2005-2009 Legacy and Outback models built in Subaru's USA plant, the radio and HVAC controls are all on one large PC board. So when you remove the factory radio you'll also be removing the HVAC controls. That's why people use the JDM HVAC panel kit.

    • @SVXdc
      @SVXdc ปีที่แล้ว

      On some Legacy/Liberty/Outback models (especially those outside of the USA and Canada), even when the factory stereo has a button labeled "AUX" the car lacks the wiring harness and 3.5mm aux jack. In those cars, it is possible to add a harness that will let you connect and use an aux audio source. There are aftermarket vendors in the USA, Australia, and probably other countries who sell those.

    Where in your car did you attach the bluetooth mic, and how did you wire it to the head unit? I'm in the middle of installing a new stereo in my Legacy and this is the only part I can't seem to figure out.

    • @brokenwrench4309
      @brokenwrench4309  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Derek Cheng my mic was not Bluetooth I was a wire that I stuck on the windshield in the top corner. I ran the wire behind the plastics. Hope that helps

    • @derache123
      @derache123 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, that's what I meant - sorry if I wasn't clear. I have heard of people clipping it on the headliner and then running the cable behind the A pillar; is that what you did? Did you have to remove the plastic trim piece underneath the steering wheel to get the wiring to the head unit? Thanks.

    Can you use celsius on that climate module? Or is it only fahrenheit?

    • @brokenwrench4309
      @brokenwrench4309  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marius Hansen I think it is just in Fahrenheit, but if you get one ask them if you can get one in celsius

    • @SVXdc
      @SVXdc ปีที่แล้ว

      The units are determined by a different module in the car, so it will display the temperatures in Celsius if your original HVAC controls did, or Fahrenheit if your HVAC showed that before.

      Ked Desamour you have to cut part of that plastic right behind hazard switch. If you look closely in video he already had it cut.

      BrokenWrench's car does not, but for cars that do have them -- yes it is possible. You will want another adapter harness that BrokenWrench did not mention (to connect to the car's harness that Subaru designates "i85").
