    I just want y’all to know I won my first ever tournament on my first ever try by following these tips. Blinds got big and my stacks were getting eaten up so I had to make some plays and win some blinds. Made some mistakes and went too aggressive with small stacks when I got big stacked, but in the end I had pocket aces TWICE and busted out 4 people for mega pots. Ended up splitting the pot with last guy and we played all in for the last $100. Great game, thank you so much

      That's phenomenal, you should be very proud of how you played. Making mistakes in tournaments happens. But you remained calm and kept on grinding. Thanks so much for your comment and congratulations. 🏆👏

      @@runhorse Thank you! Most importantly, I gained much respect from all the regulars and staff. It’s a really great feeling. Now, it’s time to study the game even more. Any tips on how to properly build a bankroll?

    • @runhorse
      @runhorse  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CaribbeanMDJourney The best way to build a bankroll is slowly. Never risk more than 5% of your bankroll in a sitting.

      Final table alone winning one is hard enough congrats, but enjoy now before u realize that it gets harder harder, one key thing to run to final tables often is winning your flips when needed when the final two tables approaches , I don’t know how many countless times my kk and qq loses when final two tables are left

    My last tourney.. pre flop I'm dealt pocket deuces. One guy (the chip leader by alot) raises to 5k everyone folds. I call. I had maybe half his stack..The flop comes 2,3,3.. flopped a full house. I obviously go all in, and I was so excited because the guy called. I turn over my cards instantly. The whole table shouts. The guy reveals A,10 suited diamonds. The flop was rainbow. The next two cards come. 10,10... knocked out of the tourney. Ridiculous..bubbled out.. I played in that tourney for 7 hours.. ridiculous.. but I love the game though.. bad beats happen

    • @runhorse
      @runhorse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That was a very bad beat,. However I have talked about playing small pairs preflop in other videos and you should not be calling most raises with 22. This is a hand to limp with and throw away if someone raises. If it's a small raise then you might want to call. Better luck next time.

      If the guy raised you pre flop you should have checked after flopping that. I know it wouldn’t have changed the outcome in this hand but any other time you should have let them come at you.

    If you are playing with people a lot you definitely need to change up... Can't stay the same... I've been checking great hand's a lot and letting them raise me if they don't by the river I make it seem like I'm just trying to buy the pot from them to get the call. Well these people started catching on to what I have been doing... I came in 4th last week and 2nd last night but they were catching on to what I was doing so time to change it up. Going back tonight for another well see what I can do to trip them up. Im not expecting to make it top 5 but cool if I do... Can't expect myself to win learning a new strategy.

      It sounds like you're playing well. I try and read my tables too. So if the players are very aggressive, then I will slow play more. If they are tight, you should be more aggressive. If you have been checking a lot, you may have to start opening the bets or raising more. Sometimes even with bad hands, to try and through your opponents off. Good luck.

    Can you recommend any software for poker tournaments ?

    • @runhorse
      @runhorse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have never used any software, but it might help to analyze your mistakes. A little secret about poker, you can play perfect and still lose. The best you can do is get it in while you are ahead, lady luck does the rest.

    any book suggestion for tourneys?

    • @runhorse
      @runhorse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the question. The only poker books I have ever read were Harrington on Hold em and the one from Phil Helmuth. Can't remember the name. I think that any knowledge can be good, just remember that the game has also changed over the years. I picked up the Helmuth book at a local Salvation Army store for .50 cents. So check those places where they donate books. Most of my knowledge comes from actually playing the game in live casinos and card rooms. Good luck.

    I’m 4-11 the last 15 times I had aces.
    And the last 38 times I was dealt a pair, I’m 6-32 flopping a set.

    • @runhorse
      @runhorse  ปีที่แล้ว

      You must be misplaying your hands to be that far off from standard deviation. Watch my video about how to play an over pair. Seems like you must be slow playing too much or you are a limit player.

    • @VOILAA

      Flopping 6 sets out of 32 times is better than the odds.

    Don’t call all in, that’s just on tv…. Ever heard of final table with a short stack shove??

    • @runhorse
      @runhorse  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm confused about what you're saying. Don't call a players all in? You want to eliminate players in tournaments, so the big stacks often call small all ins trying to knock them out of the tournament. That's a common play.
