Thank you for your filming very good missed Chicago this year love these guys and yes as long as Robert lamm, jimmy Pankow and of course Lee Logan’s, they are still Chicago-to me miss ya Terry
Over 50 years, I’ve seen Chicago live 157 times. The music will live on. New members will come and go, but there will come a time when the founding members will hang it up, as they should. They are all approaching 80.
@@SteveM-gj2vyI can think of four. 1)Madison, WI 1975. My first concert to see them live and the one where I could first drive. 2)Alpine Valley, East Troy, WI. The last live concert that Terry Kath played in WI before his death. He was wearing his Pig Nose T-shirt. 3) Alpine Valley Sept 9 & 10 1978. Guitar player Donnie Dacus (who I thought was an awesome addition) but after the concerts you could just see the looks on the original members’ faces. It wasn’t going to last. 4) Desert Diamond, Sahuarita, AZ, where I live. Sept. 25, 2005. The first time my wife had seen them. Now, she’s a fan. Somewhere in the 80s, I can’t remember when, there was a backlash building against musical acts whereby the length of the concerts had shrunk to like an hour. I saw one of the perpetrating acts, Kenny Logins, who provided us with 45 minutes. People were pissed. Articles were written about it. Chicago must have seen it, because they announced at one of the concerts I attended in the 80s, that there concerts would be 3 hours+ long, minimum.
Great video! Seeing Jim Pankow play up close like that is just amazing. I always love hearing Neil Donell! I didn't realize he was playing guitar now for some songs.
@lingoss5328 Jimmy was tremendous. I've never seen Chicago before and actually didn't know much about the band, just bought the tickets and went to check them out. They blew my expectations away. The video doesn't do it justice. The experience, being able to stand up next to the stage, it was like I was on stage with them. Jimmy blowing that trombone right at me, was somewhat hilarious, but so cool at the same time. I got to meet them before the show and take pictures, but I didn't know any of them at that time. I wish I could have met them AFTER the show instead. They made me a fan, for sure. They were all nice guys too.
I'm old enough to have seen the ORIGINAL Chicago back in the mid 70's. One show was at the Day on the Green show at the Oakland A's Park with the Beach Boys in 1975. The other was at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. That's when they were at their best...especially with Terry Kath, Peter Cetera, and Danny Seraphine. BTW...Chicago's first three albums were all "double albums." The first band to ever do that!
Talk about nostalgia! One of my favorite bands when I was a teenager (and still is). I am so happy the band is doing so well to this day! Eric Baines voice...simply WOW!!! I've been to hundreds of concerts from Metallica, the Scorpions & ACDC to Elton, Billy Joel, Rod Stewart, Phill Collins, Genesis, Sting, the Police, Tom Petty, the Eagles, Pat Benatar, Cyndi Lauper, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Sammy Hagar, Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox 20, Green Day and many others, and I've only walked out of one concert in my life. A few years back, Reo Speedwagon opened for Chicago in Irvine, CA, and they went the first 90 minutes having played one song that we recognized. When we were leaving, they played Hard to Say I'm Sorry, but that was the only other song I knew. Several people from my class of 1988 had similar experiences and said stuff like "I guess I don't like Chicago as much as I thought I did." I'd way rather see more guitars than horns. This doesn't mean your experience loving the show isn't valid, and I'm glad you all had a good time. I was just massively let down by their set. But at least Reo Speedwagon sounded great.
I didn't care for the opening number or the song Free but the rest was classic Chicago. Too bad the person recording the show was in the front row. I prefer to be in the middle...the sweet spot for the house mix so you get the full sound of this great band. Too much trombone in your face on this vid.
They did! I had it on there for 5 months, but then I just got a copyright claim on that song, and I had to remove it for the video to be able to be seen again! Sucks.
Yes, Paul, it's pretty messed up how the video has been up for months, with no problem. Now suddenly, the first song, INTRODUCTIONS, caused a copyright restriction, blocking the entire video from being viewed. I hope that doesn't keep happening. This is all new to me. Also, my Hank Williams Jr video... when I first posted it it got a lot of views. A lot! More than anything I've ever posted, by far. Then, just suddenly, it stopped. Now, I can't get anything else to get views like that again. I posted the Kansas concert, and it's not getting any views at all. The only thing I can get any views on is shorts...
@ Yeah, this trimming thing is new to me too . I finally got in my studio app and found the list of songs which all showed no impact except for introduction. I I just found the section they had labeled blocked and did the trim. Hopefully, it will be made public again. Thanks again for the pointer. 👍. Btw, I like hank Junior so I have a look and I’ll share it. See if I can help you get that one going. you might double check your tags sometimes I’ll add one or two more and it seems to remove a glitch. Can’t hurt. Take care 😁
I really enjoyed them with Bill Champlin or Lou Pardini on keys doing the old Terry Kath songs or the 80's Champlin stuff. Also liked Jason Scheff and Jeff Coffey on bass and tenor vocals but this new lineup with Neil Donnell and some other guys doesn't do it for me. Glad they're still touring though and that Lamm, Pankow and Loughnane are hanging on.
Carlos Murguia sounds really good on Just You 'N' Me. Kind of sad the way he tag teams with Lamm, but I guess that's what Lamm has to do, being in his 80s.
Respectfully, Rad, I have no use for Leonid and Friends. It makes no sense to me to have a "tribute" band when the band you're "tributing" still exists and is out there performing with regularity, albeit with only three of its original seven members. Seems like a slap in the face, as in, "Hey, look at us, we do their stuff better than THEY do!" Just annoys me. But... if I'm off base here, I'm open to being set straight...
@@williamj.sheehan2001 If Chicago wouldn't go through singers as often as I change underwear, Leonid and Friends might not be as popular as they are, they do more than just Chicago songs.
@@tokugawa12able Saw Terry 8 times. When Terry died, to me the band did also. Being a trumpet player, I started to drift more into soul/funk and Tower of Power became my band of choice. They too are now getting up there with only 2 original members. That means I must be old too-lol. Bottom line, enjoy what you enjoy if it brings you joy. Hate to sound cliche but "It's all good."
Robert is really running out of steam, he is almost 80 so he gets a pass for that. Neil is shreking as usual and just awkward. Eric Baines on bass actually has a good voice
Why should he get a pass? People paid good money for tickets. If you had an old plumber who no longer was good and came in and did a half assed job would he get a pass? Leonid and Friends, the Russian cover band, still has the energy of original Chicago.
Truncating Feeling Stronger Every Day is sacrilegious I can find 2 minutes to cut out somewhere else. Eliminate one song Champlin was on and you’re there
Yep. Terry is no longer with us, Peter left, Danny was fired and Walt has retired from the band due to major health issues. We still got Robert, Jimmy and Lee in this great band.
Wow...Jimmy's chops are shot. Can't hold out any notes and skips over notes in the fast runs. Like Rocky Balboa once said...time beats us all, it's undefeated.
@PeterCamberwick You may have noticed I was standing about 4 feet from the loud end of Jimmy's trombone... That's what was so great about this concert. We were right in there with them by the end of it. No guard rails, just some of us standing at the edge of the stage, and the guys playing their horns right in our faces. It was great! I love the way the "Getting Stronger Every Day" and "25 or 6 to 4" sound on the video. That is exactly what it sounded like being there in that moment.
Whatever you call him, he was the most entertaining and charismatic person on that stage, and he is the one that I walked out of there wanting to go back and see again.
It’s starting to become real trendy for …bands to tour with the name but no original members and well covered tracks to keep them sounding great ! It amazes me how people accept this without any problem? Whatever ?
Little River Band charging $75 to see they're show and NO original members remaining. WTH Niel Schonn the ONLY remaining original member in Journey 🤯 Guarantee you can't see Journey for much under $100 a ticket. What a JOKE 😤
@bradcrawford1998 I've been described as having belonged to a BASKET OF DEPLORABLES by a very nasty woman 8 years ago. This feels so oddly familiar, "Brad Crawford 1988". You know, that beautiful woman... her husband's initials are "B.C." Just a coincidence I'm sure. 🧐🤨
I think he was sick during a few dates - he may have came up for a few songs and let the group do most of the gig. He also usually steps out front and plays guitar on Beginnings - choosing to stay out back on the keyboard this time.
Indeed. It's funny what bands are around posing. Saw that Marshall Tucker and Jefferson Starship are coming to my area and had to chuckle. Can't imagine people paying to see that, at least not more than $20 if that.
@@mrrandy1 Great point, heck didn't even realize that name was still around. And boy, after reading about lawsuits and such around how is touring as LRB, I see what you mean. Hadn't heard all that, the fact frauds can tour with that name is nuts. I listened to them some but marginally, too sappy for me in general. We're going to ELO in Oct and will post the vids later. We saw them just a few years ago and they were fantastic so hopefully still the case. I don't think Jeff Lynne would compromise his legacy ever by sounding like crap. I've got a few from that show posted if you're interested. This next time I'm taping the entire show instead of songs here and there. Try to catch them on this final tour if you can somewhere
I think it turned out pretty good except for the last few songs when we were right next to the stage. I mean, I recorded it with my phone, I'm not some professional video Grapher. 🙄
@MissJensk1 The Dallas Cowboys today, they're not REALLY The Cowboys either I guess. The Steelers aren't REALLY The Steelers either. Every team playing today must be a "cover team". No original players.

Problem is REO sets are 75 minutes tops. Not worth prices they charge.
the frontman [lead vocals] sound great as if they were the original members.👏👏👏
😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉
Did they not play "Introduction" at the start?
They did! I had it on there for 5 months, but then I just got a copyright claim on that song, and I had to remove it for the video to be able to be seen again! Sucks.
So I wonder why YT blocked my Chicago concert from the same town? And they waited until a couple weeks ago to do it? Weird
@paulbeaman The Same thing happened to me. I had to cut out the first song.
@
Ok thanks Sean. Appreciate it. I’ll give it a try 👍
@
Yeah, this trimming thing is new to me too .
Robert Lamm will be 80 on October 12. Peter Cetera is 80 today 9/13/24.
Leonid and Friends are the new Chicago.
@@raddodson971 Point well-taken, Rad.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was on saxophone 😁
Oh My God!!! That's exactly what I thought!!!
❤
Set list?
Every song on the video is bookmarked.
The trombone player Jimmy sounds off.
Sad, call it quits, when Terry was there it was epic, he was another level
Just your opinion

@@tokugawa12able Saw Terry 8 times. When Terry died, to me the band did also. Being a trumpet player, I started to drift more into soul/funk and Tower of Power became my band of choice. They too are now getting up there with only 2 original members. That means I must be old too-lol.
Bottom line, enjoy what you enjoy if it brings you joy. Hate to sound cliche but "It's all good."
Did you have your phone stuck down the end of the trombone? LOL
@PeterCamberwick As close as I could possibly get.
Maybe.....button the shirt old man.
Come on people ......THERE"S ONLY 2 ORIGINAL MEMBERS IN THIS VIDEO.
All three are there Robert Jimmy and Lee😮
@@debbiechristie9976 You are absolutely wrong. Robert Lamm is not there.
@hiflyer1168 Are you blind and deaf?
Who do you think is playing the keys?
They sound GREAT!! Whiners...................
did the trombone player hit any right notes during 25 or 6 to 4?
Yes.
@@alabastersmidge4692 where?
@@thevanburenagency6664 He hit all the right notes. He sounded great!
I don't know but we were having a blast with him!

Great video but the sound is bad.
Go to the live show. You won't be disappointed.

@jackhouston357 Yes, that's right.
Still truly sound great but makes me think of Peter Cetera.
Truncating Feeling Stronger Every Day is sacrilegious
I can find 2 minutes to cut out somewhere else. Eliminate one song Champlin was on and you’re there
Almost everyone is gone. What is the point anymore
How DARE YOU!!!😡
@@alabastersmidge4692 They're right, 2 brass players doesn't make it Chicago. No original singers is tough
Ray is not Walt, but he just might be a better player - the solos for sure.
Chicago was over in 1978.....this is a good cover band
Oh know did they not do 25 o 6 24
@CS-ow4gl 25 or 6 is the last song they played.
Down to 3
With due respect to Messers Imboden & Seraphine , I think Chicago's best drummer is with them now, And that is Mr. Walfredo Reyes, Jr.
Their vocals went south when Peter Cetera left! Robert Lamm is only decent one left in group.
I can sum this performance up in two words. Horr ible
I always listened to just the horns not the singing. Great brass section. They are still great. Singing sucks
Good job, cos in this video, that's all you can fackin hear!
Singer is from hunger ….and the drummer is terribly off.
Give me Leonid and Friends or Tower of Power ANY DAY OF THE WEEK
Horns sound horrible……
Sad to say Robert has lost his pipes.
woah...Pankow is not having a good nite.
Whatever you call him, he was the most entertaining and charismatic person on that stage, and he is the one that I walked out of there wanting to go back and see again.
No Peter Cetera.. No Chicago....
No clue...
It’s starting to become real trendy for …bands to tour with the name but no original members and well covered tracks to keep them sounding great ! It amazes me how people accept this without any problem? Whatever ?
3 Original members.
Little River Band charging $75 to see they're show and NO original members remaining. WTH Niel Schonn the ONLY remaining original member in Journey 🤯 Guarantee you can't see Journey for much under $100 a ticket. What a JOKE 😤
Pankow sucks, always has, very lucky trombone player……..high school all state kids play better.
Bad when they even suck as a tribute band
This lineup NOWHERE as good as the last time in saw them 7-10 years ago 😤 The sound on this video is NOT GOOD, DEPLORABLE in fact 🤮
@bradcrawford1998 I've been described as having belonged to a BASKET OF DEPLORABLES by a very nasty woman 8 years ago. This feels so oddly familiar, "Brad Crawford 1988".
You know, that beautiful woman... her husband's initials are "B.C."
Just a coincidence I'm sure. 🧐🤨
Pretty difficult to get a descent recording from up front. See them live yourself, then comment.
No Terry, no Peter, no Danny... no Chicago.
What an original take.
@bradleyowen7612 It's witnessing that Earth-shattering MIC DROP every time I read a comment so similar...
What happened to Lamm on several songs? He disappeared from stage and someone else took over. Diaper change??
I think he was sick during a few dates - he may have came up for a few songs and let the group do most of the gig. He also usually steps out front and plays guitar on Beginnings - choosing to stay out back on the keyboard this time.
State fair band
Hopefully my State.
This is now a cover band
Indeed. It's funny what bands are around posing. Saw that Marshall Tucker and Jefferson Starship are coming to my area and had to chuckle. Can't imagine people paying to see that, at least not more than $20 if that.
@@vanlifeonthego6684 and dont forget The Little River Band, such a joke.
Catch them if you can, even if you're not a big fan you'll enjoy it
@@vanlifeonthego6684 I love ELO and remember there was ELO Part Two where the base player Bev I believe started a separate ELO band.
@@mrrandy1 I vaguely recall that, might lost a few brain cells since then....but I was more than impressed when we saw them. Even my sons in their 20s too. Even mediocre hits like Do YA and Shine a little Love were great live. Otherwise one hit after another. Even some Traveling WIlbury songs with George Harrisons son and Tom Pettys guitarist. I've got a few from that show posted if you're interested. This next time I'm taping the entire show instead of songs here and there. Try to catch them on this final tour if you can somewhere
Lousy video... even worse audio!
@kendallevans4079
Sorry, I was basically on stage with the horn section. Priorities.
I completely disagree. The sound is great.👍
@@alabastersmidge4692 Hmmm.......
@@kendallevans4079 Yes!
I think it turned out pretty good except for the last few songs when we were right next to the stage. I mean, I recorded it with my phone, I'm not some professional video Grapher. 🙄
Bad video of guys who unfortunately have lost it.
They still sound fantastic!!!
The old posers with useless new people who can't sing. Leonid does it better.
Not really Chicago is it
@MissJensk1 The Dallas Cowboys today, they're not REALLY The Cowboys either I guess. The Steelers aren't REALLY The Steelers either. Every team playing today must be a "cover team". No original players.
Its time the band stop. Im 72. No where near the same look or sound as past. Its over. Its like cher going on and on . Even rush is over. Now
Like so many bands from the 70's, 80's and 90's, they are personnel wise just a shell of their original self, but the music is still great. Stage presence is terrible.
RIP Terry Kath.
