Wow!!Just finished watching Bill Gates birthday party 1990 Omg! WHAT A GREAT CONCERT! CHICAGO STILL THEE BEST BAND! THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR GREAT SONGS!
I saw them in 1977 for the first time. They opened with the same song. Of course that group had Terry Kath. Little did I know I was going to be some of the last fans to see him perform before his untimely death in 1978. Looing at that setlist, did they really not perform Colour My World?
Jason was young then and had his own style “Cetera decided to go his way.” “CHICAGO WILL LIVE ON FOREVER INCLUDING IN MY HEART AND MANY OTHERS❣️” 🎼🎸❣️🎷🎹🎸🥰🥂🎺🎺🎹🎼🎸🎷🎷🎸🎸🎸🎸🥰🥰🥰❣️❣️
Jason was young then and had his own vocal style and didn’t need Cetera vocals to SOUND GREAT❣️CHICAGO will LIVE ON FOREVER 🎼🎸🎸🎸❤❤❤ “ADDICTED TO CHICAGO AND A HARD HABIT TO BREAK” 🎼🎼🥰🥰❣️❣️🎸🎸🎸❣️🥰🎹🎷❣️🥰🎸🎸🎸🎸❣️❣️❣️❣️
Do you by chance have anything from the Chicago 18 era that has very few clips circulating online or not at all you might publish? I’d greatly appreciate hearing what is in my opinion the best tour of the band a bit more than what we have currently!
They were, I was there and remember. At this time, we thought the Chicago train would keep going making more hits. A year later, their 21st album came out and I thought for sure they'd have a ton of hits from it, but it sadly didn't happen. But I still thought the songs were great and I listened to that album nonstop for a year. The 1990s started their downfall. A shame, a band with that much talent ended their chart run. And wound up being a legacy act releasing compilations after compilations in the later half of the 90s and early 2000s.
I always felt sorry for Tris... this is hot of the the heels of having in to fill in the shoes of an original member that was fired. As much as I don't care for the live material after 1989, it was great that he was -always- smiling on stage and enjoying himself playing the material right from the beginning (extremely complimentary to Danny, too which makes me respect him even more.).. I blame the originals, and including (to an extent) Danny himself (which after reading his self acknowledgment of his firing in his book) and to me never they were never to capture the same live magic as they did, Tris's excellent playing notwithstanding...
Dwayne was a big part of their performances during that era, for sure. But he was sleeping with Walt's daughter and when the Stone of Sisyphus project was shelved, Chicago got a new record company and got rid of Dwayne in the process.
This concert is not filmed in Tacoma - this was a private birthday party put on for Bill Gates birthday by his company Microsoft - this is filmed at Seattle Center Coliseum (now called Climate Pledge Arena) in Seattle in early September 1990 - this was not a public performance - it's a private party for Microsoft employees celebrating Bill Gates birthday which was Oct 28 - so this party was celebrating his 35th birthday during the first week of September- I have no idea why they were celebrating it so early - over a month early......maybe it was a birthday for Microsoft - the company's birthday......either way - Bill Gates was there and took photos with the band Chicago after the concert was over......
I saw them in Salem, OR September of that year, so same set list. It was a great concert. Pankow said the same thing about being handcuffed and sent back to the states from London all because of What Kind of Man Would I Be.
BTW… No concerts are ever the same otherwise it would be boring… SO JASON SOUNDED GREAT LIKE LISTENING TO ROBERT… “WE CAN STOP HURTING🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎸🎸🎸❣️❣️❣️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❣️❣️❣️HORNS ARE GREAT 🎺🎷🎺🎷🎷🎺🎷🎺🎷🥰🥰❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Thank you so much! Do you have the complete concert Of Chicago in Pensacola 1987? In TH-cam there’s only a medley of Midnight Hour/Knock On a Wood/I’m A Man/Get Away Of This concert The concert is of 06/03/87
Thanks for the comment. No, I don't have any videos of them from 1987 in Pensacola. Hopefully it surfaces one day, I think there's lots to be discovered still.
@@thechicagocompletist5164 Thank you, and, do you have the audio? I found out that there’s is a version of Forever (Chicago 18) Of This ‘87 concert in the Chicago’s album VI Decades Live from 2017
@@sgr895 Sorry, I don't have the audio of that complete show. There IS a video of a full show from that year that was shot from the audience in Kansas. Clips are on YT. I have the full show but it's still in storage. It's poor quality but nice to have anything from that era.

Not sure what was up with Jason on Dialogue, but that was not a strong performance. It was rather forgetful really. Jason sounds way better not singing Cetera's parts.
I enjoy Jason's music, especially the recent stuff. When i watch old Chicago videos from his time as lead tenor, I find myself unimpressed for most of it. All opinion though.@@johnbramsey
I know Chicago when I was in grammar school and the first song which is introduced to me to play as a drummer was "I'm a man and I never stop playng. Now I am 71 and Chicago is part of my life,no matter Pete Cetera leaves the band, its OK,because Chicago has to put new blood in the band like Jaso n and Dwaine. I don't feel any diference in the performing. Of course,I miss Terry Kath -RIP P ,but Chicago was ,is and wili forever and ever
This is NOT Chicago! Chicago died when Terry Kath did. 💔🙏🏻💐🕊️ and Peter Cetera left (great decision on his part, I’m sure. He’s a fantastic vocalist btw ❤) after that nothing notable was produced by remaining members. These old farts (Lamm & Pan🐄) think they still “got it” and are producing a cheesy lounge act all the while calling themselves “Chicago “ The only way this would be worth seeing would be Pankow tripping and falling over his dentures! 😂
The final straw was when Danny got fired. I've noticed that after Danny left in early 1990, their success ended. I think they had one more song that just cleared the top 40 after he left.

One of my favorite shows too. Love the late 80's/early 90's era.
Thanks for posting this, very rare. Never seen this
Es indiscutible el sonido de Chicago. Tiene su sonido por generaciones. La mejor banda del mundo.. CHICAGO.🎉🎉
Que banda tan espectacular.....❤ Siempre me gustó y ahora mucho más con Jason Scheff, que bello eres
This is a piece of art!
This was a great lineup!
Life Changing Music. I grew up with CTA. So did my Kids... Def Leppard took a page to survive. Now Leppard is on top again

People don't realize that he wasn't trying to be Cetera.

Jason's vocal pitch was hit or miss.
always loved that version of Free
This was still a relevant band in 1990. Owner of the Number One song of 1989. Popular Music moved on, though.

The Chicago drum chair has been in good hands since day one.
Excuse me , Who ?
Where is Dawayne in this documentary????
Cool band
Question : When did Just You n Me become Simple and Free (in the scrubber bar)?
So interesting that Dawayne Bailey is right up front here. And yet has barely made it as a footnote in the band's history. So weird.

😊
Bill was better when he was up front. I’m assuming that the Chicago leaders made the decision to put him in the corner where he stayed until 2009.
The horn players and Lamm didn't want Champlin in the band.

YT removed the sound from Korea 2003 due to a copyright notice, so I took it down. No other shows to my knowledge have been removed from this channel.

Why do they play the bass solo on a GUTAR?. Ridiculous.

You’re not wrong. Peter Cetera is kind of irreplaceable.

This not Chicago!
Does anyone else notice that this is quite horrible compared to the original band from the early 70s?
Also, the vocal mix is quite bad.

Talk is cheap, they were very talented here with the TWO keyboards
