Trail Hunting Blairadam MTB

  • I returned to Blairadam to explore further the trails that are there. It was quite difficult at times to be sure if I was on the trail as there were so many leaves on the ground covering the trail surface. It was very wet and muddy and I managed to crash within 5 minutes of starting! Surely, that must be some sort of record? I did several trails - Rooty Mash Up, Duel, The Grave, OCP's A9 Duelling Project, Brick Road Descent and the Bombhole trail. They were all good but my favourite by far was the Brick Road Descent. It has lots of line choice and is rooty and technical in parts with a nice rock roller feature- highly recommended.

    Boardwalk's in the wet are lethal! Well held at the end too! Will have to check Blairadam out, never been before.

      Yeah all the boardwalk were slimy that day. You should check out Blairadam there are a lot of decent trails there. Cheers mate!😁🤙

      Cheers Barry, holding on for dear life is a new skill I’m developing!🤪🤣😂🤪 That Rock roller was good fun- it’s like the baby brother of the big rock roller that I did on the Rock Hudson trail which is on my Deuchny Woods video. I really enjoy rock features like that.🤙🤙🤙😁

    That wet green algae on the wooden bridges is dodgy stuff, slid many a time going over these, that stretch of trail you recommended which I can't remember the name reminded me a bit of Route 77 trail at North Third Resovior in Stirling, also an excellent trail, can't wait for travel restrictions to be over and get out riding different locations, looking forward to it, Thanks Donald! ,😁🚵‍♂️🤙

      Thanks Gary, yeah I can’t wait to go further afield too. North Third is one area I really want to do. In fact I had been going to go but then the new restrictions came in and that was that.😕. Still plenty of fun local trails to explore thankfully.😁🤙

    nice vid, and well ridden over the meaty roots half way down the brick road descent, 2nd time.

      Thanks David, I was actually pretty pleased at managing to get over those roots, second time especially as it was going uphill- not my forte as you know.😂😂. It is a great trail that one.😁🤙🤙👌

    Nice vid! Never been there myself but think I'll wait for the drier weather, my lack of proper riding gear ensures I'm soaked to the skin with mud cos I can't keep out the fun bits either on 2 wheels or on my arse

    There's a decent rock drop on the red brick trail, keep left at the start and you get a nice run onto it.

    nice video. I think you'd benefit from focusing on your steering and it'll allow you better more reactive control while riding trails etc. Also keep your speed when going over things like roots etc even in wet or dry will allow you to pass safer and smoother than slowing right up ever will dude. all the best to you!

    • @muddymongoosemtb9873
      @muddymongoosemtb9873  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the advice mate.👌😁. I totally agree that going quicker over roots and other obstacles etc makes it easier and smoother, like in this video I can see I went over the rock roller really slowly which made it more difficult. Funny thing is at the time I didn’t feel I was going over it so slowly! 😂😂. Steering is something I’ve been trying to work on all year, I understeer a lot, I’ll keep at it, thanks for the advice mate I appreciate all the help I can get!😁😁😁🤙

    Well done on the root riding, something I need to master.

    Good videos mate, new subscriber and just getting back to MTB after...20 years roughly! Last time I had a MTB I was doing the paper run. I’m guessing your pretty local to me, given your accent and the trails you’ve been riding. If you were to recommend 3 trails for a beginner...which would they be? Keep up the good work lad

    • @muddymongoosemtb9873
      @muddymongoosemtb9873  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate!😁. I was very late in getting into mtb too - so glad I did, it’s brilliant!🤙🤙. My local trails are at Braefoot next to Dalgety Bay in Fife. There’s a trail there called Justice which I found to be a good trail to start on. Braefoot has a lot of good trails to progress on. Berm Baby Berm at Glentress is a fantastic trail too. A River Runs Through It at Pitmedden is another fantastic trail a bit more challenging than the previous two but still manageable for a beginner. I hope that helps mate. Happy shredding!😁🤙🤙🤙
