    Fantastic Donald well done hitting the step up! I went from a Giant Trance to a Stumpjumper Evo with 160/150 and I feel I could ride anything now if I can get the guts to try. Biggest difference is possibly moving to 29" wheels I can definitely roll larger features now. Enjoy your new bike

      Thanks Robert! Yeah, I feel the same, bigger travel and wheels are certainly boosting my confidence. A big difference for me as well is that my old bike was an xc bike with steeper head angle and the top bar was high so I couldn't get the seat out of the way when going down steep trails. Which made me feel like I was going to go over the bars unless I leaned really far back but then that put me in a terrible body position. It's also got a longer wheelbase which makes me feel more centered and balanced on the bike. I'm very happy with it. 😁Cheers mate.😀🤙🤙🤙

    Nice one man! what a belter of a bike....I expect you will be at home with it in no time... you'll be ploughing through stuff you never thought you could do before.

      Cheers mate, I'm getting to grips with it now. It has taken a bit to get used to as it's so different from my old bike. But it's certainly inspiring confidence in me to be able to tackle things I would have struggled with before. 😀🤙🤙🤙

    Yes! New bike days are the best, Rallon is a really good machine man, once you get used to the big wheels you will be flying! 😃💪

      Cheers mate, they are great bikes. Nick McAlindon "N29 Mountain Biking" used to have one so I'd seen them up close and knew they were great bikes, so eventually after much research and speaking to other MTBers about other bikes I settled on it. Glad I did as it feels great. I'm happy to have joined you in the Orbea gang! 😀🤙🤙🤙

    Always great getting a new bike, nice one! 29er and longer travel seems to fit the bill with yourself, recent hire bike had 29 wheels definitely easier getting over rough terrain, well done on that step up have looked at it myself and thought nah! 😂 Higher irl, thanks for sharing Donald! 😁🤙

    • @muddymongoosemtb9873
      @muddymongoosemtb9873  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Gary.👍😀 the 29er wheels certainly help rolling over stuff and I've found they are faster rolling. I was pretty daunted at the prospect of the step up before even though I thought I could probably do it. The new bike gave me the confidence and to be honest I was relaxed when I came to do it. It wasn't as bad as it looked. As Pete was saying on the video, with enough speed the jump kind of takes care of you itself. Should give it a go when you are next at Braefoot. 😀

    • @garyalexander3281
      @garyalexander3281 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@muddymongoosemtb9873 Sound advice from Pete about speed it's just trying to get the balance between going faster to clear the step up and not going too fast, losing control and going flying 😂, reminds me of one time doing jump line at Beecraigs on old bike getting in the air but feeling myself getting flung forward managed to recover but was scary 😱

      @dangerousdave1970 cool, I've not been to Pitlochry yet. My mate Paterson recommends it but he says the trails are pretty steep and difficult. I know you like the steep stuff so I can well imagine that they are tough trails. 😀🤙🤙🤙

    • @dangerousdave1970
      @dangerousdave1970 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@muddymongoosemtb9873 for the most part they are, but there's some not too difficult stuff up there also. V1 & V1.2 are really nice and not difficult. Conons DH is also pretty straightforward. for the most part totem is pretty straightforward, but does have 1 wee tricky bit. and then the rather amusingly named 'shut yer puss' which is one of the greatest trails i have ever ridden-and quite straightforward also, then there's Cathros DH trail, which is ok and not difficult. other than that, the other trails are pretty nuts

    funny question what do you put your tyre psi to ? loving the new bike i have the one down from you and i love it :)

    • @muddymongoosemtb9873
      @muddymongoosemtb9873  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers TimmyTea! I run tubeless tyres and usually run about 20 psi on the front and between 22-24 psi on the back. On this occasion as it was so dry and had been for a while before coming out I pumped the tyres up more. I can't remember what psi I pumped them to now. But it was very dusty and slippery so I put them back to my usual settings that I'd run when it's wet and that helped get a bit more grip.
