  • On Saturday, May 18th, after driving to Niagara Falls and back to be with family for the day, I drove to some Crown Land where I car camped for the night so that I would be ready to start early the next morning for my backcountry camp adventure in Algonquin Park. On Sunday, after doing a short day hike, I inflated my Alpacka packraft and paddled and portages for 3-1/2 hours to get to silent and serene Linda Lake. There, I enjoyed a wonderful stay, enjoying the solitude and a roaring campfire amid the seeet sounds of the Spring peepers and the lovely lulling of the loons. On holiday Monday the 20th, after paddling out the next morning, I prepared and enjoyed a unique meal of ratatouille with mashed potatoes.
    So much and so little happened in such a short time that was also like a wonderful little eternity; an entity of time into its own. Please come along for one of my most precious solo adventures…

    Beautiful adventure! So tragic about the moose and the people that were hurt. Life is special and you have to enjoy every moment because you never know. You learned some valuable lessons on this trip and we learned as well. Awesome video! Thank you.

    I just returned from a camping adventure myself so I am a little late with watching and commenting on the video. I am pleased to see that you produced a couple of videos while I was gone. This one was very well done for certain. You picked a great way to spend your time outdoors on this one with the addition of the pack in and camp and the journey between sites that you accomplished with your inflatable kayak. Great views of an enchanting area that offers some challenges along with the beautiful scenery. Thank you once again for allowing us to join you. Keep on doing what you do and enjoying yourself. See you on the next one.

    I find I always particularly enjoy your videos that include some packrafting. I think this is because I'm so envious that you have one and I don't yet!
    I think your packraft was not losing air, but almost certainly it underwent a reduction in air volume as the air inside the pontoons cooled from conductive heat loss to the cold water. It's normal to have to top up inflatable boats when they are in colder water. It's worth keeping in mind that after you top it up and bring it up on land the air inside will expand again when it's no longer in contact with the cold water, and if it's sitting in direct sunlight, that volume of air inside can increase as the air expands. This could lead to a rupture at a seam (or a failed valve).
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers! :)
    - Martin

      MARTIN! I miss you! We need to meet for a coffee and catch-up! Thank you for your always knowledgeable comments… Yes, that helps! I knew about the air expanding in the heat but had not thought of the opposite reaction caused by the cold water. Knowing this now brings much peace of mind. I hope you are doing well, my friend. Great to hear from you. 😊🫶🏻✌🏼

    May I make a suggestion?
    Consider making the videos with no loud intro and outtro music … the videos are perfect company for me to fall asleep to … except I can’t because of the loud music at the end … and beginning too, if I have them playing on repeat or back to back 😮😢❤

    I really like that tent. Specifically that it uses one pole. I noticed you're using a stick, which you could acquire on trail. Are you thinking about going without trekking poles on the GR5?

    • @Womaninthewoods13
      @Womaninthewoods13  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Heck no! Trekking poles all the way, especially in the mountains! But for my paddle-in spots, no, I don’t bring them for the relatively short and generally flat portages. It’s a great tent, Phil. I highly recommend it! 😊✌🏼
