I have never caught a fish on a jig really wanting to get into it
This video will help!
Neither did I until this year. I almost fished a jig exclusively all season long and have broke my PB twice with large mouth and got a new on pb small mouth also on the jig. Now I can’t put it down…. Once you get bit a few good times you won’t want to fish another lure 😂. I love jigs now
I caught my pb on a swim jig after watching Tyler a few months ago
I love a good swim jig
It took me forever to get the feel for it but now I’ve caught a few I am hooked. It’s usually my first go to especially on a overcast day.
Thank you for posting another jig video!!! I’ve watched all of your jig videos and absolutely love it when you post videos with them. Great work keep it up!!!
Glad you like them!
Everything you do is very professional! Thanks a lot for all the hard work you put into growing the sport of fishing! Keep at it Tyler!
I appreciate that so much!
Great info Tyler! I’m gonna buy some jigs from your links before my next fishing weekend for sure. Can’t wait to figure them out with awesome info. Keep it up man, you’re doing an awesome job!!!
Binged watched all your previous jig videos and a few other content creators. Yesterday I caught 5 bigs in an hour with it. I'm hooked on the jig!
That is awesome!
Great video Tyler. Your 100 cast video with the jig is what got me hooked. 🎣🎣
Great stuff! You pros make it sound/look so easy. I feel more confident after your videos, and I can’t wait put all this into action. Appreciate it!
That’s my whole goal! I want you to feel more confident and equipped to go do it yourself
@@TylersReelFishing love it! Keep up the good work buddy!
Thank you Tyler. I just started fishing a jig. Need all the help I can get!
Glad I could help!
I just bought a few jigs after watching your amazing channel. I haven’t been out try them, but this was helpful. Keep up the great videos and God bless!
I appreciate that! Hope you get em from the video description!
Excellent timing tyler. I could never. And I mean, NEVER. Catch bass on a jig. And I was about to give up on it until this video. Thank you so much.
Don’t give up! Make this the time you decide to commit now
Always love your tips videos, you are my first stop to refresh or learn a new lure technique.
I appreciate that!
You are right Tyler,I've heard my whole life that the jig is an almighty killer as far as bass fishing is concerned, however I've been an avid angler my whole life but never gained confidence in a jig...maybe it's just that the bite comes differently than other baits
It’s time you COMMIT!
Thank you for the help I used your advice and the fish were crushing my jig. Wasn’t throwing them much before but now I love ‘em.
Glad it helped!
Set my PB up here in NEPA on a jig a month ago all because i watched your videos a couple years ago. 7.32 lb behemoth! Always a pleasure!
I’ve been a diehard rubber worm bass fisherman for forty and racked up some big ones, but I’m always looking to try something new. Very informative video. Thank you.
New subscriber have gone back and pretty much watched all of your older videos really? Enjoyed your college fishing tournament videos.
Thanks for the sub!
This is exactly why I watch Tyler. Starting throwing a jig this summer with minimal success. Only caught a few. Didn’t realize I was supposed to have a trailer on the jig!!🤦🏽♂️I will be out tomorrow morning with a big ole craw on there. Thanks Tyler!!
You’re welcome!
Back in January this year I finally decided to buy a jig ( it was a casting jig) because i never used one before and I pitched right next to a seawall on the rocks and ended up catching a 4lb bass as my first ever bass on a jig
Man, you're one of the more informational people I've watched. Awesome video! I have remained absolutely invested in finesse jig fishing man, I've caught so many on them it's ridiculous. A brown jig with purple or red flake, and a green pumpkin purple trailer has been a go to since I gained confidence.
I love to hear that, means a ton! I’m making a finesse jig specific video soon👍🏼
@@TylersReelFishinglooking forward to it! Keep up the good work buddy!
Never really use a jig but decided to only throw it last night and i caught roughly 15-20 bass. Definitely changed my mind on it.
Heck yeah! Love to hear that
Yes sir! I am still building my confidence in Jigs but it is becoming one of my favorite baits to throw! Thank you for all the great info!
You’ll get that confidence soon!
@@TylersReelFishingthank you Tyler! What's your favorite color to throw this summer?
I’ve started to fish a jig and watching your videos have made me a better fisherman thanks for this videos.
Heck yeah! Love that
I wasn't into jigs for the longest time, and now i love them. i have caught so many bass on them and ended up getting my pb on it
They are PB catchers that’s for sure!
Always amazing content Tyler. Thank you!
I appreciate that!
Caught my PB on a black and blue football jig mid winter. I havent used jigs much since then but im going to try and fish mostly jigs for a whike to get a better feel for them. Thanks for the info!
They are an all year round bait! Never take it out of your rotation 👍🏼
Couldn’t ask for a more perfect video!
Thanks Tyler! I am new to bass fishing and I am loving the content!
Glad to hear it!
I just bought the lews mach crush. Can't wait to get it in. I may have been suckered in because I like how it looks but I will see.
Growing up I personally have never given a S about a jig. After watching your video I did some research and found that todays jigs are amazing. So many colors and styles. Anyways, I've been hitting 3 ponds close to my house here in central Ohio. For the 3rd day in a row I have gone out and caught 1-3lb bass every day using a beautiful pbj buckeye lures jig. I went from never using them to making them my most go to lure. They look so pretty all set up with a nice bait cast. Throw it way out, let it drop then wait 5 seconds and you get someone's attention. Thank you so much for making me a believer of these and giving them the respect, they deserve because they work!
I literally caught a 5 pound bass on a jig in the first week I bought one!
I was looking for a video to get better with the jig and I probably watched 5 videos on the jig from your Channel. Thanks for the vid!
Love to hear that!
the setting of this video and the lighting was the best. Must have been a little overcast. Do more from this dock! Excellent explanation.
Great video young man. Thank you
Awesome tips Tyler, thanks for sharing 🎣🙂
You bet!
Another great tip video Tyler love your channel i have been watching a long time
I appreciate that!
I typically use a T-rig being a bank angler but I have caught a bass on a jig. It was a Strike King. Can't remember if it was the bitsy bug or the other little inexpensive one they make but I do remember that it was black and brown with a black and red Zoom UV speed craw and I was pretty excited about it. Nothing crazy, maybe a pound to pound and a half but it was the coolest thing because I had zero confidence in anything happening other than loosing the jig, which I did a few casts later but it was still pretty awesome.
Got a green pumpkin strike king bitsy flip jig and some green pumpkin yum craw chunks for 5 bux total at walmart on clearance. They have been slamming the green pumpkin wacky worm for me but I've seen guys in bass boats throwing jigs along the sides of the river so I'm gonna give it a try! Your videos taught me how to rig it up and how to fish it so I have a feeling I'll catch some fish tomorrow on it! I just hope my heavier spinning rod can set the hook! Gonna get a baitcast for next season and learn that but in the meantime might as well try it anyway!
Update: Went out and caught 6 Largemouth on the jig! I lost 1 fish at the boat and had a few nibble bites I missed but it worked great! I went back to walmart and bought the rest of the jigs and crawfish! haha
A Texas rig worm used to be my favorite way of fishing till I gained confidence in the jig. It is by far my favorite way to fish now.
It just gets a bigger bite for sure
Nice video! The jig has worked its way up in my arsenal quite a bit over the past year. I feel these tips may offer a 9x improvement in fish quantity, 10x may be too much 😜
I’d say 10x is too low, realistically these tips increase by 73x but I didn’t wanna be facetious
😢W😅😅😮
Awesome video brotha.
Appreciate it!
Awesome video trf ❤❤
Thanks!
Swinging swim jigs are pretty sweet.
I've been binging on your info...thanks! I've caught some decent sized bass on tiny hooks and I'm learning to understand frogs and hooksets better. Caught my first few bass on a jig from your tips and a buddy on the pond...all great advice, thanks! Googan fan here, though...PB has been theirs, and my Moby Dick has my Googan jig awaiting my retrieval....call me Ishmael.
Love to hear it!
Bro ur content us helping soooooo much
Bout to use those links for some pb&j’s and that crush combo
Thank you!!!
@@TylersReelFishing yessir
I have a bunch of jigs I haven't had luck on, hopefully this changes that!
I am confident it will!
You young man have explained your points about jig fishing better than most.
This was very informative, and now I want to go jig fishing .
Glad it was helpful!
Great vid Tyler! During the hot summer do you go w the football to get the bass at the bottom? I’m getting skunked right now and may try that to get the ones laying around in the 10 ft range!
Yes, the football deep, or the cage under docks
Love the post tyler
Thank you!
I’ve had most of my luck with a yum paddle tail as my trailer on a jig
Was that my Boy?!? The jig’s up 😂😂
I love the stealth fider jigs
Some of the best!
Dope video! Sometimes, I feel like one of those hard ass kernels at the bottom of the popcorn bowl that just won't pop.
Me too mark, me too
Good info. Btw. . What's the rod and reel you're using in this video?
Hi Big T big fan here but I have a question do you do videos for truscend lures if so I swa you in a video if not um go see it I saves it well keep being you awesome A+ angler
Ive only ever caught my bass on straight retrieves with the jig lol. Crazy...
Where are you located? I'm up in northern Minnesota.
Do you have a video on the magdraft or big swimbaits in general if not can you make one?
Yep! Search “TylersReelFishing swimbait”
I started making weedless hidden-eye lead-free jigs made out of a bismuth tin alloy. I would absolutely love for you to try it out!
Sure man, sounds awesome! Send me a picture of one TylersReelFishing@gmail.com

@@TylersReelFishing now it's sent. Not sure what was going on with the last email
Idk if you will see this but I was watching a chad Hoover video about jigs and making sure that your rod was fast or super fast so that your jig was not jumping too far over cover under water I was curious what you thought about this I’ve been playing around with it and I see what he means when the tip is more soft when you pop it over cover then it’s more like a spring but when you get the hook set then it keeps them pinned better so it’s kind of a toss up
Ehh, you can just adjust your rod movements and hookset for whatever rod you have
My son and I just started fishing and we were out a local spot by some docks and I threw a jig on (mainly because I have no idea what I'm doing and just wanted to get a feel for all our new gear) and caught a small perch. No trailer/tail on it. Is that normal? Do Perch like jigs as well or was this one just desperate?
Can you use this jig in environment that has a lot of lily pad or grass without getting hang up?
What about using a paddle tail or fluke for a swim jig, if so wouldn't that be three trailers?
Nice
Very nice
Ya I lost my jig to another fishing line
i wanna see tyler fish out my local pond, no matter the technique or lure i use i can maybe pull out a quarter pounder or a 2 every now and again, its an insanely difficult pond
I recommend any quarry pond that is open to the public. There’s a half dozen out by where I live and they’re full of 3-5 pounders since people tend to not eat them out of dirty ponds.
Trim the weedguard and snip a tiny bit of the skirt guys.
Is there a video for fishing the east coast? Im having trouble catching fish here.
Gotta be more specific than “east coast”. Where do you fish?
Another video!!!
#saved. hi it's me again. lol. Just got back from 10hours of fishing and one fish. I think I'm the problem lol. idt I know how to use a jig well. I'll let you know tomorrow lol. Thanks for the free HD tutorial
You’ll get it!
I just went out today with the new tackle I been gathering 😈 can you do a tutorial on fishing shoals 😅
Really anything works on em, depending on the depth! A jerkbait over the whole thing can usually tell you if there are fish there, and if you should slow down with a bottom bait
@@TylersReelFishing I’m out fishing a skip jig rn in my pond
Ok, this is just my newbie stupidity asking but what’s the easiest way to learn the bait that’s in the lake you’re fishing? Just figure out what other fish there are in the lake? I’m fairly new to this but am absolutely falling in love with it. 😁🎣
The best way is to use your eyes, at different times of the day, and the year when the forage is active. You should also use as much Internet research as you can, and is available, and ask people who fish around you what they have learned about the forage in your body of
Water
@@TylersReelFishing awesome! Thanks Tyler, you’re the man! Again, I’m super glad I found your channel. Very personable and explain things to where even I can understand and apply them. We have a lot of lakes up here in Washington state so I’ll just do a little research. You’re the man!!!
Best fishing advice channel on TH-cam. Idk how you don’t have 3 million subscribers yet. I used to only fish for catfish, but I’ve gotten into bass fishing hard this year thanks to your channel and a couple others. Thanks for all your advice Tyler!
I appreciate that! Maybe one day!
Me and my friend bought some new jigs so hopefully this works
These tips should help!
I love jig fishing 😂 everything else besides hard jerk baits
heading out tomorrow morning using the jig with a trailer. Let’s see how it goes 😅
You got it!
What about a grass jig? Which was named California swim jig or a poison head? I use those instead of standard swim jig.. what's better to just swim..
As long as it’s somewhat cylindrical, it can be a swim jig
GYOOOOOOOOOSH!
That’s the spirit!
On topic of hard hooksets my buddy caught his bass ever and it was on a jig his hookset wasn’t even a hookset he just started reeling faster lol
Like I said, you CAN hook em on it with a little hookset, it’s just gonna be harder
Caught my first ever fish on a jig like 2 weeks ago on my 3rd cast. I go to throw my 4th cast and got hung up. 😅 lol.
We love a Big Hookset out here
Oh 100%
If you could have only ONE jig and trailer, what would they be? And what color?
TYLERREELFISHING
I'm a teen, but I'm only 5,6ft hopefully still growing, And a 7ft Through 7,6 rod just seems to long for me. I was hoping you could help me get the right rod without having to buy a couple of them to try.
Do you have any advice?
It’s not too long for you, trust me. A longer rod will help you get further casts and better hookup ratios. Get the combo I have linked in the video description, or anything by Mach, and you’ll be set 👍🏼
It might be a little to pricey for me,
I was hoping for a combo for between 100 and 150, but I definitely will be thinking about it,
Also I fish a lake where the biggest bass I've caught is the 5 pounder, would the medium heavy be overdoing it?
Also should I get 7ft or 7,3? Whatever you say I'll give it a try!
Thanks for the advice!
I am not sure why, but almost fishing TH-camrs fail to mention one thing about jigs. They talk about casting a 1/2 oz jig, but fail to mention that the bait they will cast is more like 3/4 or even 1 oz after the trailer is added.
You’re right about that. But that’s a fact that I don’t think really matters. Unless you’re one to push the weight range your rod can handle, which I don’t. I throw my jigs on MH and H power rods
I guess I just pay too much attention to the actual weight of a lure. As far as the weight rating of a rod, as Matt with TB says, it is only a suggestion. @@TylersReelFishing
I went fishing yesterday at a pond and I had 4 bites on the jig but every time I set the hook hard it would just fly out of there mouth
They probably small ones
@@TylersReelFishingok thanks I know there was at least a one pounder because I sight fished him about 4 feet of the bank
I want to catch one on a jig but here in Florida there’s so much vegetation and the bottom is so muddy and weedy, makes it near impossible
I have caught lots of fish in Florida on a jig. Go lighter like 3/8, and swim it above the vegetation. Unless it’s “snot” grass, you should be able to hop the jig around the grass
I’m a saltwater bass fisherman here and was wondering why more freshwater bass fisherman don’t use braid with a flourocarbon leader
Because you don’t need to. One more connection that can fail
I will always stop what I’m doing for a jig video. What is your favorite brand jig?
There are so many-I have a Buckeye Mop Jig tied on after finding more brands locally.
Be blessed.
I have been with OutKast tackle jigs for 5 years. Amazing small company out of Minnesota that truly makes some fantastic jigs. Check em out in the video description👍🏼
@@TylersReelFishing I’m on a quest to find the best jig for me so thank you, I’ll order me a few to try out.
Be blessed.
I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well th-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.
Am I just fishing it wrong, or does the jig head paint always come off? How do you deal with that?
You must have a bad jig. I’ve never had bad paint issues with Outkast jigs
I’m using the OutKast juice jig
It also happens with my thunder cricket
I still have yet to catch a fish on a jig.
Follow these tips and you will!
Never use a chunk type trailer?
Not much
🤞🤣🤣🤣
You said "wire" more than once. Do you mean the hook diameter?
Yes
Thanks.@@TylersReelFishing
First again
Yuh
Well, i'm on the struggle bus when it comes to the Jig😔
Well, no more!
Went fishing during lunch today and felt a good bite but the hook didnt set 😢 better luck next time.
You’ll get it!
Sooo are you not sponsored by strike king anymore?
I have been with Outkast jigs for years before I was with strike king. My SK contract excludes jigs. Still happily with SK for everything else
I've caught 2 bass on a jig in 2 years..lol
Let’s get that number higher 👍🏼
i see in most your bait casters you use looks like florocarbon instead of braid to floro why is that
I don’t trust the connection knot on line that size. I trust it on small line like 15lb braid to 10lb fluoro. I just don’t tie a good enough FG to go from 40lb braid to 17lb flouro
Bubba I love you and your videos they are so instructional your good at showing, telling and teaching. Buuuttttt there is something missing the reason why you're not bigger there's got to be a reason why have you reached out people like norm or ayo maybe ever Marlin baits something of that nature I propose a TH-cam tournament maybe?
I like that you tried my other idea of showing a dummy, how to fish and then the dummy getting it. I just wish you would have used a dummy and not you. You're too smart to play stupid. Sorry, but it's the truth. You need an authentic dummy. Find new one. It will work comedic relief. Don't just be instructional. Be entertaining also. Bill dance I wish I could talk to you in person cuz I have a bunch of other ideas. I just don't want it type it out. You ever come to Central Florida? Hit me up bud. God bless you. I hope your audience finds you. It's a massive one I already know
I almost feel like you have your guard up too high You're not yourself. I feel like you're trying really hard to figure out what people like instead of not caring that much and just having fun when you have fun. Other people have fun when you smile, other people smile. Have fun show that side. Do you have a best friend someone that you joke around with that? You can just be you around, not Tyler from TH-cam show that side still do your thing instruct. Tell people how to do stuff. Show them how to do it. I just feel like you're in a shell this is just a fans opinion. I don't have much else to do everything in the morning. 4:30 a.m. Central Florida time. Been watching your videos since 3:30 a.m.
I figured it out. Be a mullet business up front party in the back. Write that on a mirror and live up to it
I’m 100% not in a shell lol, but I appreciate the input! Glad to have ya around
I’d rather use 3 hook black rubber worm with red/orange dot on back an I’ve cought su monster large an small mouth
Might as well expand your lure horizons!
@@TylersReelFishing nah I got too many 😂 but jus saying u should use em one video for a couple casts
wow!what a secret…….
