52mins. I got a fishing license 2 months ago. Ur channel has been crazy helpful, and now a texas rig, which I've been using past 3-4 trips to local pond. This is good 52mkns
Your not kidding that kid has incredible knowledge for his age. I'm almost 60 yrs old and I've been bass fishing since I was 17 yrs old. He is definitely a information machine.
I'm from Montana, fly-fishing since birth. Moved to Oklahoma December of last year and am now learning how to fish for Bass. Your videos have been instrumental. Bonus though is that you're a believer in our almighty Lord and Savior! Keep the vids coming, I'm learning so much. Thank you!
What part of Oklahoma? I grew up in the panhandle, but in OKC now. if you are in the area I'm always down to go fishing if you want a fishing buddy! Christ is King!
I just wanted to thank you (again) for sharing your fishing knowledge with me/us. As a fishermen who has graduated from a spincaster to a spinning/bait casting reel, your videos have helped me actually LEARN how to rig baits and fish them. Videos like these are probably trivial to season vets, but for guys/gals just starting to take fishing a little more seriously, all your “how to” ones where you actually show the process, are extremely informative. For someone who has bought a bunch of new baits, but not really sure of the best way(s) to rig and fish them, this is great. I always look forward to your videos, and seem to go back to the ones I’m thinking about using that day. God bless!
Actually I've been fishing for 35 years and I know most of the things he talks about but I still learn something most videos he makes. One thing about fishing you never stop learning especially if you have someone with this much knowledge that knows how to teach it.
I’m a beginner angler and have yet to catch my first bass, I fish a large reservoir with heavy vegetation around the bank. I’m looking forward to trying the Texas rig for the first time to try and hook my first bass! Thank you for an incredibly informational and helpful video.
Got back into fishing about a month ago, before then i had not done it since i was a kid. Not only do i wish i started up again sooner but thank you Tyler for all the awesome videos you have up on your youtube. They ALL have been invaluable for me getting into modern bass fishing. Youre the best sir, and all the best to you and yours!
I caught my first bass yesterday totally by accident never caught one before. Now I'm addicted.. I have watched like 20 videos on how to become a bass fisherman for beginners. I finally landed on your video. It is by far the most informative and comprehensive video I've seen. Thank you so much you took all of the guesswork out of what I need to get started. Again thank you so much. I have now subscribed to your channel.
The main two soft plastics i use are a 5 inch stick bait and a 4 inch craw. Almost always thrown on an unpegged texas rig with a 3/0 hook. I agree with craws being one of the most versatile soft plastics, Texas rig, jig trailer, swim jig trailer (turn it perpendicular and you have a decent swim bait substitute). As always, your videos are great, even if I didn't think I would learn something, I did!
Moved to a 4/0 Roundbend straight shank more than 20 years and my hook up rate dramatic increased. With the exception of Mag Fluke or big swim bait. Straight shank really helps. Try it.
I’ve been getting skunked and or just getting tiny guys all season, I started binging your videos when they came up one day, after trying some of the things I caught 8 last night!
Man... I've been fishing a year and a Texas rig is my go to (it's all I've caught fish on) didn't think I could learn anymore about them and yet here we are. Super informative video.
I've been fishing Texas rigs for about 25 years and is definitely one of my confidence baits and go to lures. I've used French fries, slugos, straight tail, ribbon tail, magnums and creatures. But this year I discovered using the zman bulletZ with a crush city blt and it's been insane for large and small mouth. Great video, I agree with you so much in your videos.
Just found your channels a few days ago. Fairly new to fishing and am more of a “I just want to catch anything” kind of guy. Recently been more interested in bass fishing and since summer is here I wanted to get some info on how the bite would be. Cannot stress enough how helpful your videos have been- I’ve saved so many of them to be able to go back to later. Thanks for all of your time and effort man!
Dude tht tip about the stopper and the weight being a "battering ram" such a good point! Always ran stoppers on my rigs just to keep it "neat" looking... not anymore!! Constantly yankin it out their mouth on hook set, now i knw why!
I've been fishing for 35 years. And you teach me things lol. Great informative content. Maybe the best instructive videos I've ever seen. Good job. Keep up the good work.
One hell of a video with all the information everyone wants to hear and learn it. I fish a lot of Texas rig, but I always questioned if i was using the right weight. I was told all around it is a 1/4 ounce or 1/8. But this explains what i needed to know to present the best presentation once it entered the water going down. Thanks, man... You are the best out there by far, and professionalism with knowledge to share....🎉
My dad isn’t a big fisher and don’t have many friends that fish either so this video was so helpful for my first real summer of fishing been catching tons of bass of my lake with help from this video!
Just want to tell you that you did a great job explaining everything. I just learned how to do the Texas rig today while at the river. But after watching your video I can’t wait to get back on the water. Thank you
Tyler your Teaching first method and Marketing stuff later truly sets you apart from everyone else. Thanks for your Great videos and motivating attitude. God bless to you & your family 😊
I grew up fishing texas rig. I caught many in the 10 pound range. And my biggest a 12 pounder all in Florida. I used big worms 10 inch plus. And yes lil bass have no problem eating big worms. U catch just as many and entice the bigger ones alot more. And there are different techniques. I used to almost just shake my worm in the same place with a lil slack line let it sit for a few seconds then repeat. And lizards always worked good also. And when u cast let it fall to the bottom let it sit a few seconds. They eat worm reeling or swimming also
I feel like the swimming worm is super underrated, use it with skirted weights for a larger profile. swim with a underspin EWG hook for flashier presence, fish it normal as shown here, I’ve even used it a jig trailer, I usually save my ripped up worm and cut it down to about 3 inches , that’s one little claw hanging off the back works great! Something different a lot of bass haven’t seen before
I always cut my Yama Senko’s in half whenever I Texas rig, and ever since I started doing that I’ve had MUCH more luck than when I’d rig the whole worm for some reason
this got me thinking. you fish up north? i'm in western pa and most of the stuff people throw on fishtube is massive for my local ponds and lakes. most of the bass i catch are on crappie magnet split tail grubs lol. definitely gonna try cutting my senkos next time.
Best lure overall without a doubt for me. Year round. All weather. All conditions. Affordable. Big fish. Little fish. Texas rig dont care. It just catches.
Agree with most of your points. I will say though, I also see value in pegging the weights when using elaztec baits to keep them down when the bait itself wants to float up. This might be specific to more bfs style fishermen since I like to bfs fish with Zman Ned baits so they're meant to float. In that case though, I would fs peg the weight!
Hey I just started to bass fish and I’m getting pretty used to some of the baits and things and how they react and such but the one thing I’m not good on is terminal tackle and hooks and weight especially with Texas rigs so thank you for making this very usefull
Thank you sir. Now I can pretend I know more than I do when I talk to my uncle. I can't wait to use this out on the bank. Hopefully I can catch my 1st bass.
What are the differences between Texas rig and Carolina rig? Can you fish them the same? Does one do better in certain situations than the other? Loving these masterclass videos
One of the biggest fish I ever caught was in a pond not a whole lot bigger than my back yard. At best a 1/2-acre pond, with a depth max of 10'. A ton of hydrilla in the center of it with a whole in the middle. I threw a floating 10" Mann's bubblegum floating worm over that hole a good 30 times. Eventually the fish got mad enough to hit it. It took about 4-5 minutes to get it through all the green slop it was living in. In the end that girl was 8.2 and then a personal best. (1987) Rod Shimano Beastmaster 6'6" MH with a Diawa TD2 reel. 25-pound Berkley Big Game line and an Owner 6/0-7/0 striper rig and slimed in Berkley craw scent. Ya, I'm old but I still have all those rods and reels in my collection.
Great video! Texas rig fishing is one of my favorites. Really great advice on the weight sizes Also that looked like an aggie ring you had on there. Let’s hope for a “W” today!
Speaking of the swim bait, I have caught a ton using the 3.25” rage swimmers as a Chatterbait trailer. A lot of people say it messes up the action compared to a spunk shad, or other non paddle type but they work great for sure. Thanks for the retrieval tips, I kinda haven’t figured out how to enjoy soft plastics much so need to put some work in on them! I’m much more of a power fisherman. 😂
@@TylersReelFishing OK so this is kind of funny. I was thinking about trying the rage craw anyways because my boys caught some bass last night and one of them had a crawdad sticking out of its mouth, then I saw your video today and it further inspired me to do so. Went out for a bit this afternoon and ended up catching a nice one on the craw 😂😂 I posted a short video of her if you want to take a look.
Great video. The only thing I think you left out was the correct way to set the hook when punching. Done wrong it can be hazardous to you or nearby people. Keep em coming.
Just really got into fishing more this year. You content has been super helpful. Would crimping split shot on in place of the worm weight and bobber stop present any issues in a pinch?

I've been watching your TikTok videos and finally subscribed here today. I have a local smallish lake that is heavily fished and pressured. It is like winning the lottery to get bass out of there. My next option is shore fishing on the local rivers (Pittsburgh area). Do you think the Texas rig can be effective there? Thanks your content is amazing.
Quick question for you. Why does no one use a glass or plastic bead anymore? I was always taught growing up to have the bead to create additional clicking noise and act as a way to protect your knot from the bullet weight. Is this just old school or is there a reason the bead has gone away in many different people tackle boxes. Great video love the content!
I really hope this MEGA video helps you catch more fish on the Texas Rig! If it did, shop for your tackle using the links in the video description!

For punching mats I would use a heavy duty Jika Rig. You can get away with a lighter weight and the rig helps keep the bait a bit off the bottom muck.
