I caught the most bass on Texas rig
52mins. I got a fishing license 2 months ago. Ur channel has been crazy helpful, and now a texas rig, which I've been using past 3-4 trips to local pond. This is good 52mkns
Heck yeah!!
I only fish for 8, 10, 12 pound bass.... still waiting for a bite.
😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
1 hour before bed. Perfect timing
Perfect video to fall asleep to!
This video really helped me understand how important the Texas rig is. Also congrats on 352k subs
Thank you!!
My dad isn’t a big fisher and don’t have many friends that fish either so this video was so helpful for my first real summer of fishing been catching tons of bass of my lake with help from this video!
I've been fishing for 35 years. And you teach me things lol. Great informative content. Maybe the best instructive videos I've ever seen. Good job. Keep up the good work.
I just wanted to thank you (again) for sharing your fishing knowledge with me/us. As a fishermen who has graduated from a spincaster to a spinning/bait casting reel, your videos have helped me actually LEARN how to rig baits and fish them. Videos like these are probably trivial to season vets, but for guys/gals just starting to take fishing a little more seriously, all your “how to” ones where you actually show the process, are extremely informative. For someone who has bought a bunch of new baits, but not really sure of the best way(s) to rig and fish them, this is great. I always look forward to your videos, and seem to go back to the ones I’m thinking about using that day. God bless!
Man I love to have you around! Keep learning!
Actually I've been fishing for 35 years and I know most of the things he talks about but I still learn something most videos he makes. One thing about fishing you never stop learning especially if you have someone with this much knowledge that knows how to teach it.
Man... I've been fishing a year and a Texas rig is my go to (it's all I've caught fish on) didn't think I could learn anymore about them and yet here we are. Super informative video.
I’m a beginner angler and have yet to catch my first bass, I fish a large reservoir with heavy vegetation around the bank. I’m looking forward to trying the Texas rig for the first time to try and hook my first bass! Thank you for an incredibly informational and helpful video.
I could listen to you talk fishing all day!
One hell of a video with all the information everyone wants to hear and learn it. I fish a lot of Texas rig, but I always questioned if i was using the right weight. I was told all around it is a 1/4 ounce or 1/8. But this explains what i needed to know to present the best presentation once it entered the water going down. Thanks, man... You are the best out there by far, and professionalism with knowledge to share....🎉
Just found your channels a few days ago. Fairly new to fishing and am more of a “I just want to catch anything” kind of guy. Recently been more interested in bass fishing and since summer is here I wanted to get some info on how the bite would be. Cannot stress enough how helpful your videos have been- I’ve saved so many of them to be able to go back to later. Thanks for all of your time and effort man!
Welcome aboard!
Appreciate what your doing big fan!!
I appreciate that!
I grew up fishing texas rig. I caught many in the 10 pound range. And my biggest a 12 pounder all in Florida. I used big worms 10 inch plus. And yes lil bass have no problem eating big worms. U catch just as many and entice the bigger ones alot more. And there are different techniques. I used to almost just shake my worm in the same place with a lil slack line let it sit for a few seconds then repeat. And lizards always worked good also. And when u cast let it fall to the bottom let it sit a few seconds. They eat worm reeling or swimming also
Yep!
I caught my first bass yesterday totally by accident never caught one before. Now I'm addicted.. I have watched like 20 videos on how to become a bass fisherman for beginners. I finally landed on your video. It is by far the most informative and comprehensive video I've seen. Thank you so much you took all of the guesswork out of what I need to get started. Again thank you so much. I have now subscribed to your channel.
Heck yeah!! So pumped to have ya around
The tug is the drug. You’re hooked now, welcome to the club 🙌
Just got into bass fishing, your channel has been a tremendous help for when I hit my local lake. God Bless Brother 🙏
I've been fishing Texas rigs for about 25 years and is definitely one of my confidence baits and go to lures. I've used French fries, slugos, straight tail, ribbon tail, magnums and creatures. But this year I discovered using the zman bulletZ with a crush city blt and it's been insane for large and small mouth. Great video, I agree with you so much in your videos.
Sounds like you’ve caught quite a few fish on them then!
Thank you again I learn so much watching what you put out. Had questions but you covered everything
So glad!
I love Texas rig!
Yessir!!
Great video Tyler. Thanks.
Great video! Thank you for the in depth look of all the details of a Texas Rig!
You bet!
Great video, awesome tips. Thanks👍👊
Hey I just started to bass fish and I’m getting pretty used to some of the baits and things and how they react and such but the one thing I’m not good on is terminal tackle and hooks and weight especially with Texas rigs so thank you for making this very usefull
Happy to help! Always feel free to comment with questions you have
The main two soft plastics i use are a 5 inch stick bait and a 4 inch craw. Almost always thrown on an unpegged texas rig with a 3/0 hook. I agree with craws being one of the most versatile soft plastics, Texas rig, jig trailer, swim jig trailer (turn it perpendicular and you have a decent swim bait substitute). As always, your videos are great, even if I didn't think I would learn something, I did!
Heck yeah!!
I’ve learned so much from your videos. Thanks so much
I'm so glad!
Great video! Texas rig fishing is one of my favorites. Really great advice on the weight sizes
Also that looked like an aggie ring you had on there. Let’s hope for a “W” today!
Gig Em!!
This is a good one!
You’d know!😂
Yo I just caught a 6lb bass with Texas rig thanks for tips that hooked helped too I threw it around the edge
Good stuff!
Dude, the first thing I saw once you started tasting these worms I was thinking about the tide pod challenge oh goodness!! Other than that you created an amazing instructional video and some fantastic information. Great beginners video on the correct way to start with the Texas rig can’t wait to use it and all other techniques you used in this video! Thank you for sharing tight lines and take care God bless!
Haha no tide pod challenge for me
Appreciate ya bud👌🏽
Awesome and informative video. One of my favorite 101 videos to date. Maybe you mentioned it and i missed it but if i was going to have a combo dedicated to fishing a Texas Rig what would you recommend? I do most of my fishing in central Minnesota on lakes with lots of grass
Any of the Mach combos that are MH. I’ve got two linked in the video description
52 minutes!?!?! Nice
Gotta hit y’all with everything!
Good info 💯😎
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for this!
You're so welcome!
Man as the seasons go by there's still so much to learn
Yes there is!
Just really got into fishing more this year. You content has been super helpful. Would crimping split shot on in place of the worm weight and bobber stop present any issues in a pinch?
Yes, it weakens your line
Dude no way!! I tried my first texas rig last night and caught a beautiful pike i was so excited!!
Agree with most of your points. I will say though, I also see value in pegging the weights when using elaztec baits to keep them down when the bait itself wants to float up. This might be specific to more bfs style fishermen since I like to bfs fish with Zman Ned baits so they're meant to float. In that case though, I would fs peg the weight!
Definitely beneficial for Zman stuff
I feel like the swimming worm is super underrated, use it with skirted weights for a larger profile. swim with a underspin EWG hook for flashier presence, fish it normal as shown here, I’ve even used it a jig trailer, I usually save my ripped up worm and cut it down to about 3 inches , that’s one little claw hanging off the back works great! Something different a lot of bass haven’t seen before
Great ideas!
Your comments about fat people were sooooo on point and can be used for many other demographics as well...WELL SAID SIR!
Great video I have just one spinning combo to make it easier can I use something to be able to change hooks and baits?
Best lure overall without a doubt for me. Year round. All weather. All conditions. Affordable. Big fish. Little fish. Texas rig dont care. It just catches.
Couldn't agree more!
Ive acraully caught a nice three punder using the caffine shad on a green pumkin jackhammer. You just have to bite an inch off.
Keep posting on tik tok cause that's what brought me here 👍
Heck yeah! Glad to have you here, stick around!
One of the biggest fish I ever caught was in a pond not a whole lot bigger than my back yard. At best a 1/2-acre pond, with a depth max of 10'. A ton of hydrilla in the center of it with a whole in the middle. I threw a floating 10" Mann's bubblegum floating worm over that hole a good 30 times. Eventually the fish got mad enough to hit it. It took about 4-5 minutes to get it through all the green slop it was living in. In the end that girl was 8.2 and then a personal best. (1987)
Rod Shimano Beastmaster 6'6" MH with a Diawa TD2 reel. 25-pound Berkley Big Game line and an Owner 6/0-7/0 striper rig and slimed in Berkley craw scent. Ya, I'm old but I still have all those rods and reels in my collection.
Dang super cool!!
Man is risking his health tasting plastic for our education. Bravo, great video
Thank you!
I always cut my Yama Senko’s in half whenever I Texas rig, and ever since I started doing that I’ve had MUCH more luck than when I’d rig the whole worm for some reason
How many rods do you have 500!?!? lol making us normal guys feel bad.
Love your videos man!
Great video. Wondering how you would change things up if fishing for SM vs. LM bass.
Downsize for smallmouth, and go with more rocky areas
Speaking of the swim bait, I have caught a ton using the 3.25” rage swimmers as a Chatterbait trailer. A lot of people say it messes up the action compared to a spunk shad, or other non paddle type but they work great for sure.
Thanks for the retrieval tips, I kinda haven’t figured out how to enjoy soft plastics much so need to put some work in on them! I’m much more of a power fisherman. 😂
Power fishing definitely is more fun! Haha you’ll figure it out
@@TylersReelFishing OK so this is kind of funny. I was thinking about trying the rage craw
anyways because my boys caught some bass last night and one of them had a crawdad sticking out of its mouth, then I saw your video today and it further inspired me to do so. Went out for a bit this afternoon and ended up catching a nice one on the craw 😂😂 I posted a short video of her if you want to take a look.
Congrats on 352,000 subs!
Thank you!
I've been watching your TikTok videos and finally subscribed here today. I have a local smallish lake that is heavily fished and pressured. It is like winning the lottery to get bass out of there. My next option is shore fishing on the local rivers (Pittsburgh area). Do you think the Texas rig can be effective there? Thanks your content is amazing.
Yes, but drop shot will be better. Search “TylersReelFishing drop shot” to find my master class on that
Happy 1st Father's Day Tyler!1
Great video. The only thing I think you left out was the correct way to set the hook when punching. Done wrong it can be hazardous to you or nearby people. Keep em coming.
Good tip 👍🏼
Would u drag a Texas rig swimming worm on the bottom with snot grass weighted or weightless or just keep it higher in the water column above bottom and not on bottom?
I generally throw 1/16 oz weight the heaviest I'll throw is 1/8. If I'm in deeper water I'll change lures but I'm typically in the sub 5 foot range
Yep
How to prevent gut hooking on a whacky? Are baitholder hooks best for a whacky?
Don’t let it sit for that long
Hey Tyler, I fish some smaller tournaments with a friend in the evenings. He sticks with a jig the whole time so we fish a lot of docks and standing timber and laydowns. Typically around 5ft of water. I have been using a weightless fluke just to give a different presentation. Any other suggestions? appreciate any insight. We're in NY if that makes a difference.
Nah, just learn to fish the jig better than he does
Not the right kind of video to ask this but Tyler how do you use ur trolling motor? As far as turning a d that stuff goes hands free?
7:12 lol bro was that a mudpuppy?!
that’s insane footage to just casually drop into the video! good job getting that
Haha yep! I've been filming underwater stuff for years. Look back at my old underwater videos!
@@TylersReelFishing done
Can you throw it under a dock? Can you throw it on a rock? Yes sam I am you can throw it round the clock😂
Hahaha
the hookset at 7:03 is crazy 😂
I came from IG😂
Ayyyy
What I’ve learned is that for creature baits and thin worms with lighter line if you can use a 1/0 offset hook go for it the bait last a lot longer compared to a 3/0. Which hooks do you use I assume gamagatsu? (rip spelling)
No, VMC Redline. Best hooks I’ve ever used
"The multi tool of fishing"
"A hopping piece of poop" 🤣🤣
Lol
Hi Tyler here in South Africa we dont have crawfish would you still use the ragebug?I have seen people use it here and catch but the soft plastic jerkbait is alot more popular because of the talapia we have. Anyways loved the video.😀
Yes, rage bug is not a crawfish only imitator. Bluegill and tilapia can easily be imitated by a flat creature bait
@@TylersReelFishing👍🏻
Quick question for you. Why does no one use a glass or plastic bead anymore? I was always taught growing up to have the bead to create additional clicking noise and act as a way to protect your knot from the bullet weight. Is this just old school or is there a reason the bead has gone away in many different people tackle boxes. Great video love the content!
I just don’t think you need it. But if it gives you confidence, do it!
i still do just because i’m used to doing it i can’t stop lol
EWG 3/0 is good for most plastics
What rod do you use for a weightless soft plastic jerk bait? Thanks!
It’s linked in the video description. Any M power spinning rod, or longer M baitcaster
@@TylersReelFishingreally appreciate the response!
What are your thoughts on the baby craw. I’ve been using them a lot lately and they seem to work well. They are like perfectly made trailers for everything lol. Let me know!
Baby craws can be great!
Have you ever thrown a fluke on a Carolina rig. I caught a bunch of spotted and a few largemouth bass on that the other day
Yep! One of the best for a C-Rig
How come no one talks about the hook slots/channels on Rage Craws? It's one of the big reasons they are my favorite craw no need to "texspose" for the most part since the hook can sit in the channel
So no wacky rig? 😢(btw struggling in clear lake.) will try different color worms thanks)
Search "TylersReelFishing wacky rig". Got a great video for ya
What lake do you fish in minisota?
Tons of em! I’ve probably fished 200 lakes in Minnesota
I feel like I can never find the fish with the Texas rig. Prob lack of experience but I just dont know where to target from the bank
Watch my 100 ponds series and try to copy everything I do, on your bodies of water. The easiest thing to focus on is the edges
@@TylersReelFishingthank you ill look more into them. Wish I lived in texas not socal 😭all decent lakes are like 2 hours away and no ponds have bass
I went for 4 hours two separate times with the same Texas rig just a green senko and got nothing
I’ve learned a lot ready to go fishing now 😂
You and me both!
hey TRF, i wanted to stop by and share my story with you from yesterday. Been a fan for a while, i love your videos and they've helped me so much. So a few weeks ago i was kayaking a river with a couple friends and, well, long story short my kayak got flipped and i lost some stuff, which included my only rod (and the lure on it), which was only maybe a year old. I don't have the money to replace it right now, so another friend lent me one of his in the meantime. I was still reluctant to go back out though, and to use my friend's equipment. Anyway, yesterday my friend i was kayaking with finally dragged me back out to our usual lake to shore fish. I was still feeling down, and hadn't caught anything in a while, and so i decided to take your advice and threw my texas rig 5" Ocho, and on my second or maybe third cast, it fell almost to the bottom but landed right on a nice 3-pounder's face. The first time he hit it he didn't quite have it so i actually pulled the worm out of its mouth, but i just let it fall again and he turned right back around and really smashed it. I landed that one, and then later switched to a texas rig craw, i think it's the Rage Bug, and got a good looking 1 and a quarter pound on my last cast of the day on that, with a nice slow crawl on the bottom. Really had a blast because i need lures to throw in this lake that aren't topwater, but it's insanely grassy. the texas rig works like a charm, and now i know that!
And tonight i went out to a different river to shore fish with my friend whose rod i'm using, and caught another 2 smallies on my new whopper plopper, the lure which i have spent at least $100 replacing because i've lost so many of them in ridiculous ways 😅
Anyways, just wanted to share with you and say thank you again for all your content, it really has helped a whole heck of a lot! More than i can even put into words, really!
howdy
Howdy
Do you ever use beads?
No
Is there a reason? I have always used a bead to keep the weight off my knot and it also clicks a little.@@TylersReelFishing
Never caught a bass on t rig
Now’s the time to do it!
Tyler. At 18 min in you start talking about why the hook sometimes comes out of a fishes mouth without hooking the fish. I recently saw a video that explained that EWG hooks often don't hook fish because the hook and the eye tie are on the same plane. Therefore, when you set the hook hard, like you were explaining regarding a pegged Texas rig, even NOT pegged, the hook comes out of the mouth without hooking the fish because it's on the same plane as the tie. It actually recommended NOT using EWG hooks for Texas rigging. It recommended using hooks that have the eye and hook point on a different plane. Like an Offset EWG or even a regular worm hook. ...Any thoughts on that? (th-cam.com/video/bvpV36RdMbg/w-d-xo.html)
Problem with straight shank on dragging is, it tears through your bait more easily. You’re going to lose fish and not hook fish with any hook you choose, and I’ve even seen it come down to the size and thickness of the lips and mouth that certain breeds of bass have over others. So many variables, so little time. Use what you are comfortable with and have success with.
@@TylersReelFishing Thank you for replying. I value your opinion. I don't get a chance to throw my worm rig much anymore. Sad because it used to be my second favorite way to catch fish. (yeah, top water's still #1) I fish some really tough ponds where I live and they seem to mostly have fish (bass) less than a pound. You'll laugh, but from time to time, I still break out one of my old 2/0 or 3/0 TruTurn hooks. They're over 40 years old! Mostly, I use #4 - #1 offset worm hooks on an old forgotten Zoom Meathead worm. (some of those are 35 plus years old too! I had a big fishing hiatus for the past 25 years. Now that I'm retired, I fish close to every day. Love your bank fishing series. That's what I do mostly. Just can't find ponds with relatively large populations of catchable decent size bass!) Having said that, I was targeting blue gill with ultralite gear today. First cast and 5 minutes later, I landed a 2 lb. 5 oz. largemouth. She hit a 1 gram jig with size 12 hook and a Zman Green Pumpkin LarvaZ. That was fun! Blessings!
Lets begin doesnt sound as TylersReel as lets talk about it
For certain videos, I take out the intro, which means the standard slogan must go too! Seems to help retention
I really appreciate the valid information you bring to the community! I have recently stopped following and sharing your videos due to the live scop video game fishing you sometimes promote 😒 I believe you have enough SKILL & KNOWLEDGE to continue promoting actual fishing! Please stop promoting the disgrace that is live scope cherry picking. Fishing isn't about winning a tournament!
95%+ of my videos do not contain Livescope. You can still enjoy and share my channel Mr. Cakes. But no, I’m not going to stop using Livescope if I desire. Sorry if the very few videos you see it in, bother you
5” stick bait or senko not in your top 5 for texas rig? that’s like talking about the best footballs teams and not bringing up the packers 🤣
That was a list for versatility. It can only be Texas or wacky
@@TylersReelFishing oh duh yep you’re spot on then 🎣
