    A 9 inch standard popsical is crazy big for flip tricks. Those egg shapes seem like they’re a better shape for tall people because they have the size for stability but the geometry for easy of movement

      The 9" popsicle actually felt pretty normal for flip tricks but I was skating 8.75" boards for years before that. Yeah dude, that's exactly why I love them so much! They feel bigger and more comfortable but still also skate similar to a popsicle 👌🏼

    Now I'm more of a shaped board skater myself (I personally love the early 90s shapes and yes Welcome skateboards are a fave of mine!) But I'd argue these boards aren't really egg shaped at all. To me they seem more like a mid 90s football shape given how wider they are in the center than on the top or bottom (To me when I see the the actual shape of an egg, I see more of a tapered teardrop shape and given that, these 'egg' shape boards are more or less two eggs conjoined at the bottom to form a more or less glorified football shaped deck.) Either way, shaped decks breath new life into skating and offer loads of fun and challenge to the overall plain Popsicle!

    • @LeonPaxton
      @LeonPaxton  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They definitely are a football shape dude, I think Heroin just coined the term 'egg board' and use that a lot to market their products and stand out from the original 'football' shaped boards. Agreed dude! They are just ay more fun to ride and you can still do everything on them 🙌🏼

    Im looking to get back into skating and definitely need a bigger board from the 7.75" i skated 15 years ago....Seems like I should get a shaped deck after watching this, but my stupid question is...Does is actually make you a worse skater because you are using these boards as cheat codes, or are they just ahead of the curve and you think many more people will ride the more shaped decks in the future? Skating has its waves and what place do you think the egg and other new shaped decks have in skateboarding?

    • @LeonPaxton
      @LeonPaxton  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sick man, welcome back!
      That's a good question man! I just think it's a good idea to ride certain boards, trucks and wheels that suit the style of skating you actually want to do.
      Skateboarding always have certain trends that just keep rotating and coming back though so the shaped boards are really popular at the moment but they also were way back in the day before popsicles became the norm.
      I think the difference now is that people are seeing how much you are still able to do on shaped boards and a lot of pros actually ride shaped boards in their professional level of skateboarding they are doing so it's refreshing to know that you don't have to ride the same set up as everyone else does and you can tailor your skateboard to what you like and what type of skating you want to do 👌🏼

      @@LeonPaxton thanks for the reply g love the content, just got back into skating after 10yrs and you inspired me to get one of these egg boards lol. Would you say there's a noticeable stability difference as the wheelbase, and other measurements are slightly different? I ride a 8.25 and I'm 6'1 with size 12 feet so I want a bigger board, I plan on using it for flips and cruising around. Finally what trucks would you suggest running for either board? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work🫡

      Dude, thanks so much! That's sick man, glad to hear it 🙌🏼
      I guess the difference in stability comes from having a board that is much wider but since the wheelbase and length are shorter and the boards taper down to a smaller kick, it makes the board feel much more comfortable and stable under your feet but then is still able to operate well doing all types of tricks since it's a little shorter if that makes sense.
      I've got a video coming out soon about how to pick the right size egg board in comparison to your popsicle size and how to choose the right size trucks for your egg board too so hopefully that will help but I have 9" wide Indy Stage 4's on my 9.4" egg board and 9.125" wide Indy Hollows on my 9.5" symmetrical board 👌🏼

    Never listen to anyone that doesn't have one street video only skates park. Things are not perfect you couldn't land anything in the real world.
