My all time favorite Flyer player. He seemed to be such a genuine and decent man. I love and miss you, Pelle. May you rest in peace always. You earned it.
How can you be so horrible to fight about a person how is defense-less? Pelle made a mistake but the only thing that matters today is that we have lost the best goalie of hockey and a great person. Let him rest in peace; it's really unrespectably to say such things about a dead person. Will always love you Pelle!
Pelle Lindbergh for always in our hockey-lovers heart, and especially for us swedes... I was 13-years old when he died so I don´t remember him so well, in Sweden was NHL something you read about and looked the glimpse from our sport news, at the 80´s there was not all these TV channels like today... I have to go to Stockholm and visit Pelles grave sometime, it should be nice... Sorry about my english, I should love to write and speak english better but I hope you understand me anyway...? :)
Pelle was indeed one of the best and it saddens me even to this day that we've lost him for over 20 years now. I was a Devils fan growing up in north Jersey when it happened, and even though I hated the Flyers THEN, I prayed hard for him because he was THAT good. When I read in the NY Daily News that he had died, my heart just sank, it really did. If Heaven needed a goalie, they got a damn good one in you, my friend! I was born a Devil fan, but I'll die a Flyer one, God bless your soul!
So did many other teams and goaltenders. Yet, despite that, Brodeur, along with Roy, Hašek, and some others still put up HoF numbers in the period. Stop disparaging a goaltender because of the time period he played in. As for the silly success argument, compare both the Flyers and the Devils since the late 1980's. It's clear which team has had more success.
R.I.P Pelle!
