    🗡️Welcome survivors! Today we explore cop spit mechanics further to develop horde base build strategies, tips, and tricks! We go into great detail testing out a variety of blocks to see what works and what does not.
    💀And most importantly, we discover a block that allows the player to shoot, melee, throw grenades through and cops WILL NOT SPIT at it! By the end of the video, you all will be well equipped to make your own anti-cop spit horde bases!

    Follow these tips and you can minimize or eliminate the spit! Let us know how you want to use the cop-proof block! They are EXTREMELY sensitive to various factors so stay dry my friends :)

      I think you may have overlooked the positioning of the player camera (which is at head level) in your testing with the crown blocks. I noticed that every time your characters head was exposed/visible through the gap of the crown blocks, the cops spit. But every time your head was higher than the gaps of the crown blocks, essentially having your characters chest visible through the gaps while characters head was covered, the cops didn't spit. Edit: In your outro, where you state that they spit at the triangle blocks, they we're actually spitting at your head and not the triangle plates. Once they fill into your trap area, that's when they can see your characters head! This is also why it seemed that the cops don't like you standing on the half blocks. Standing on a half block positioned your characters head to be lined up perfectly with the gap between the crown blocks. In conclusion, the crown blocks only work to prevent spit when the player characters head/camera position is not visible to the cops. So it would seem that all the block shapes that head the characters head and still trigger cop spit are actually just broken, while for whatever reason, the crown blocks are working as intended.

    Very Interesting, i like watching 7dtd videos that test block shapes and their creative uses so this video is very great for me! I think the cop not seeing your head makes them not spit in the small window(crown corner block) , you raising the small window made your head visible and maybe thats why they started spitting even though you are standing on full cube blocks?
    Pretty sure cautious pancake 7dtd youtuber found the scafladders first and then jawoodle heard about it through his comments and played around with in his videos.

    • @pseudoposse
      @pseudoposse  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So when I raised the crown blocks by one, it was just the presence of non-cube blocks I placed beneath that caused the spit. I did a test, not included in the video, in which I stood there with no blocks, just the floor ones, and they didn't spit. Crouching has no effect on their spitting. You can stand and they won't spit assuming all the conditions are met.
      Is that so? I was under impression Jawoodle found the scaffold block but I could be wrong.

In Sorcery, the enemy sorcs would constantly fireball the base. I'm guessing both use the cop AI as their foundation. With how powerful these modded enemies are, it made the mods nearly unplayable on horde night. Ugly cube base here I come! At least now I can play these mods beyond day 6 (I always play permadeath). Thanks for the upload: it inspired me to do my own tests.
    In my tests it didn't matter what shapes were above and below me. The only thing that stopped puke was putting full blocks between me and the cops.
    Side note: putting a shape they spit at on the outside of a full block will make them spit. Only tested with blocks I use, I don't care about a fancy looking base, just a functional one. Also during my test cops didn't spit until they were within 15 blocks and usually didn't spit if I spawned them closer than 13. Best bet is build a barrier around your base but not connect to your base that will block their view until they are close. (asphalt is a good option if you have a mixer)

    I have blocks they puke at right in front of me and that's the only blocks that take damage from cops. I put plate blocks of steel all around on the second block up to keep regular zombies from wanting to stop to beat on them on the way to some stairs. It's 5x5x5 of solid steel blocks but even with that they'd still stop short to beat on the sides until I put those plate blocks over it. They will occasionally beat on my pathway but I shoot them. I'm not standing over those so the cops don't heave at those I guess. I have a couple of hatches inside with me that never take any damage. I like to make bases where I can kill as many as I can as fast as I can. I was hitting 1200 a horde night in alpha 20 but alpha 21 I'm doing good to hit 650. They slowed down something - don't know what.

    • @W1se0ldg33zer
      @W1se0ldg33zer 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't know what it's like now but it used to be if you had a large amount of them in tight quarters they'd do additional AOE damage to surrounding blocks. You'd see blocks just disappear with no zombies hitting it. I haven't seen anything like that with alpha 21 - I think it's been nerfed way down or maybe it's not like that at all.

    • @pseudoposse
      @pseudoposse  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah if you are putting plate blocks all over your base, that will be a huge cop magnet. Zombies in tight quarters definitely thrash around and do AOE damage. Pretty sure they still do.

      They altered the A.I. to 'dumb down' some of the zombies during horde nights to improve performance. Those are the ones that are stopping to beat on things randomly. It slows the entire horde down if they do it and block OTHER zombies while doing so....also causing them to beat on random blocks.

      @@pseudoposse Decoys have no structural significance. They don't need to last. They just have to be cheap. Same properties as ablative armor - but you could place them so they direct attacks away from the base.

    Any suggestions?

    • @pseudoposse
      @pseudoposse  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Absolutely! I would recommend you take a look at some pictures of something you want to build. Not necessarily 7 days to die images, but just pictures of whatever. Like a castle, or a bridge, or a log cabin, you name it. Then try to replicate it as best as possible. It will force you to look through all the block shapes and experiment to achieve the look you need. Otherwise, you have no incentive to ever look at the other shapes. Start with something simple to not overwhelm yourself from the start and just go from there.
      In our videos, we usually call out the blocks we use in a particular build. So I'd also recommend just noting down the specific block shapes you like and try to mess around with them yourself.

    if the crown corner pieces stop cop spit, is it blocking their 'sight'? if so, would this kind of base also stop screamers from seeing you? if so i could see these pieces being used as base barriers you can exploit, and if you're playing darkness falls, maybe even against demon firespit, too

    Zombies just destroyed my two chem benches through solid concrete and steel blocks 😂 they were on the second floor and the zombies were on the first floor ! My best advice would be to never place chem stations or anything valuable near a position in which it is in the potential line of fire. I never fight anywhere close to my valuables. what if, instead of trying to use 1/2 blocks in the base, you had the half blocks to the pathing? so they would walk across at the right height to line up with your crown corner bunker.. or do they spit at the pathing when there's 1/2 blocks on it?

      Yes, I do believe that this is correct. Cops will always spit when their eyes meet yours, irregardless of which block is used. A21 also notably has a glitch in which blocks that are solid to bullets, but non-solid to explosions (in terms of entity damage) are also able to be seen through by cops. Which is causing much of the mass confusion.
      I did my own extensive tests months ago and arrived at these conclusions.

    This feels like Devs hardcorded some Blocks into the behaviour of cops which popular to be used in player positions.
    I find this i very unintuitive, it breaks the logic that half, quarter etc. have the same "hit points" as full blocks.
    it would be OK if this is consistent and quarter blocks have only a quarter of the hitpoints and need a quarter of the resources.
    You put so much work into this, how is a player supposed to find this out in survival mode ?

    • @pseudoposse
      @pseudoposse  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It definitely feels that some blocks have different behavior despite them completely blocking line of sight. Whether is unintentional or not, it does restrict building options.
      It definitely would be tricky to test all this out in survival mode. It took long enough as is in creative mode :)
