@@Oktokolo Absolutely. I think in the video we did on the wedge narrow blocks last year, we color-coded it. It is a pretty simple setup itself, just takes a bit more time to create.
I would be curious if you could combine the wedge with one of those floating block type bases. For example when they jump to the little floating block they hit a sideways sitting wedge and it pushes them off the side, missing the floating pillar blocks all together or something.
Such a simple idea that works really well! eerie always finds a way to break the game lol. Crazy good editing taco, you are better than many of the larger channels!
Taco and I are really enjoying it, works quite well! The only thing to note is keep an eye on repairs (especially wood or cobblestone), and the higher the better. Taco always to hear about her editing so keep it on haha
I made a cage of scaffold ladders with a four sided post of ladders with the diagonal railings. Worked really well. Gonna see how long CAGE MATCH! Will last.
Great video. I was thinking a lot about a simple end game horde base design with ladders on single columns. I wanted to place those around my server for new players to have an easier time when joining late. Your video might have just added the final piece to this idea. My idea was to place 4 tall columns on the outer ends of a plus shape and have them connected on the top only with a forcefield or a different configuration (like a simple jump) that makes the zombies pathfind back down and up another ladder if you go over to another of the 4 columns. I think the "railing diagonal" will help make this work even for late game hordes. If you like the idea, feel free to use it in one of your videos. Keep up the good work!
Another great video! So simple and useful for early game when you let time get away from you and you haven't started a fighting position for horde night. Very clean editing Taco! The only issue I've found with my ladder bases is the animals. It makes the bottom very tasty to dogs and others that can't climb. Love your work (both of you). You're both very entertaining! P.S. - I don't like tour groups either😅
Animals can be a bit nasty but with the sniper rifle and grenades, they get taken care of pretty easily. Plus, that is why you want to add ladders as you progress. Definitely works in a pinch though when you are out away from home :) And thank you, we are happy you enjoyed the video and taco's editing! She does a fantastic job!
I love all the weathers you showcased in the video, this makes the video to the next level. I am having a lot of fun changing weathers in my world using your MOD. Great job! Look forward to taco character!
TacoBear could be on to something. Mod a zombie bear that when you kill it, it will drop fish tacos. Easy peasy, lol This base will help many new players as well as those of us that log on to our server and some sick bastard only left 2 game hours on the clock before horde night, lol
Haha love the fish taco drop idea! I definitely need to get working on that lol. I've had buddies do the same thing to me. But now you only need like roughly an ingame 30 minutes or so to build a base :)
This is a nice and quick mini-tower base Pseudo Posse. I like to use it just outside of difficult poi clears that have a lot of ferals or radiated. Especially in A21 my difficulty is currently outpacing my gear so it helps for tough clears. I use the diagonal railing at the top so I can clear them quickly with gun or bow. It needs to be high if you anticipate spiders and birds as well as cops will require more prep up top but it is really a quick and clever design. Just a tip if using them to help with poi clears...make sure you build it just outside of the poi reset area or you'll lose it next time you reset the poi for a job.
Very good tips! Height is definitely important and the higher, the better it works. It can also be helpful to put a regular railing block above the diagonal to prevent zombies that group up from jumping on top of each other to get above. This can happen especially if the ladder is too short, or if you are using a single ladder at a higher gamestage with too many zombies for the single ladder to handle. So adding that one block will prevent them from doing that.
This is a game changer fast an easy enuff to set up right outside nasty poi or right at a buried supply quest or right outside every trader in as a safe spot Awesome:)
It definitely works in a pinch! Just be wary that if you make it too short, a lot of zombies tend to bunch up on the ladder allowing them to jump on top of each other over the railing diagonal. A quick modification to protect yourself would be to place a bar/railing block on top of the diagonal so they cannot jump up :)
one thing im thinking is, maybe you need to put a really tough vault door at the top of each ladder just for safety.. so if they do break the sloping block u can just use a switch to close that vault door, and they will then start climbing another ladder... i know it didnt need it but if one slope does break by bad luck im assuming they will ignore all ladders and keep coming up the one with the broken slope and then it renders the rest of the base useless and they will sometimes get to the top and put u in danger.. so a way to stop them doing that and move them to a fresh ladder would be ideal
Yeah that is an excellent suggestion! You could definitely make the ladders multi tiered either with additional ladders as you mentioned or put some other pathing stuff they need to traverse if they break through. You are absolutely right, if they did manage to break through, they most certainly would follow that path as it is now the easier one.
It definitely works very well! Though I recommend placing a regular railing on top of the diagonal for later hordes as if there are too many zombies, they can jump off each other over the railing. The block over the diagonal will prevent that
@6:30 you cam place 2 plates blocks below the ladders, in same orientation. This stops you from hitting your head on the ladders when jumping up to climb.
This most underrated channel ever Amount of info this dude throw at his viewers just 🎉 I have question Do cop can spit while they are climbing ladder? Thank you
Wow... I am gonna use this for sure. I wonder will that work with a spear for super, uber early game. Good lord, you can collect that much wood and cobblestone almost by accident.
You can absolutely use a spear though you cannot reliably hit through the railing diagonal. I am not sure if you can hit through the security gate diagonal but that might work too. However, the spear is long enough that you could hit them from the side :)
Does it need to be over the magical 11 block height to avoid the zombies going into rage mode and bringing down the column (assuming you are not using a POI and just a single pillar like your first example?).
To prevent rage mode, or at least bring the chance of it to near zero, it needs to be at least 11 blocks high. However, I think using a single column support for your position would inevitably get collapsed as the 11 magic block height doesn't necessarily reduce the rage chance to none. The single column would only work on like the first or second horde at most. You would want to build more supports or use a POI for later hordes.
So I was thinking about your design and I think that what you need is a way to close off different paths in case of breakage. I am pretty sure that ladders can have 1 block spaces between them and still work (at least I know this works for players). So, maybe you could use some hatches to open and close different paths. If that doesn't work, you could just have bridges going to the different ladders near the bottom.
You can definitely have 1 block spaces between ladders that zombies will still climb. That could work to direct the flow of zombies to specific ladders. Good suggestion!
i also told cautious pancake about how you can stand on top of drones (at least you could in alpha 20) - i dunno if they will move or not.. i never tried it on horde night but if u could position a drone in the right place like somewhere just off the edge of a building or chasm, i wonder if u can be virtually safe all horde night with no base just by sitting on the top of a drone? all u would have to do is make sure there are no cops and birds & spiders by shooting them.. and after that once u have all normal zombies it could possibly be totally afk?
You would need to kill them without falling off the drone. It may be able to work, not sure if the spit could push you off or something. Definitely worth a try haha
@@pseudoposse birds and spiders can definitely push u off ladders so im guessing they can push u off a drone... but like i said it just takes 5 minutes with a machine gun to clear off any potential enemies that can hit u and so long as the drone doesnt move during horde night after that its pretty much afk cos no new zombies spawn in once max number is there (unless u kill some)

You definitely need a roof if you want to AFK.

You could definitely work it as a melee base. It is a bit tricky to hit through the railing blocks though it is possible. It is easier to hit from the side however!
@@jnewcombe It is definitely doable as I have done it before. Essentially, you need to slightly tweak the design by first, adding a regular railing bar on top of the diagonal as sometimes, they can jump on top of each other if they bunch up too much (especially since melee will have lower DPS). Secondly you can extend the fighting platform to the sides a bit so you can attack them from the side instead of through the bars. If set up properly, it should work pretty well as a melee base. Good luck!

For the first horde or two, there won't be any birds. As you progress through game, you want to expand upon the core design which is why the endgame base I showed has a roof to protect against birds.
It's strange that exploding zombies on a mere wooden ladder is not destroying the ladder... are you in god mode or something ? Also when too much zombies they will damage the columns while trying to climb. And if they dont have a way to climb they will break your base down.
It's a cobblestone ladder in the beginning. Yes too many zombies would break down ladder which is why the later in the game you progress, you want more ladders as shown in the last base. And even then, none of the ladders were destroyed as I was killing them fast enough.
Early hordes won't have cops and as you advance, you'll definitely want protection as in the late gamestage horde base we do at the end. Simply build walls around your platform and that should protect you.
