Yes the B-2 has a massive unrefueled range so it could potentially choose to exit the area however it chooses. The issue is that once the bombs impact the chinese would scramble every fighter available. Three Gorges dam is petty much the middle of China so no matter which exit you pick the B-2 is likely to encounter VERY pissed off fighters. Worse yet the B-2 crew can't allow the aircraft to be captured. The B-2 might have a better chance if Devil had timed other strikes to occur just after and just before the B-2 drops its weapons.

I think you were on the right track with the Growlers to keep their eyes on something else, but in a REAL strike on something like Three Gorges, there would be dozens of planes on other missions in order to distract attention from the main target. Or more likely, the strike on Three Gorges would be part of a massive coordinated attack on CCP key infrastructure, command and control and air defense targets. There would definitely have been cruise missile attacks as part of it, so the scenario needs one or two of the Ohio SSGNs in it as well. And not for nothing, I am pretty sure that after the B-2 attacked, the plan would have been for them to go to very low altitude to use terrain to hide, and they would take a much different route to get out. I could be wrong about that, but it definitely does not seem like taking a reciprocal route and staying at 35000 feet is gonna be an effective way to escape.
