@@pocho3881 dude just get a psvita i got one cheap at 65 pounds without memorycard memorycard 8gb for me cost 8 pounds.ppsspp games on this the most demanding games will lag on this device(retroid pocket 2).On psvita you can download adrenaline and load all the psp games you want with no lag.Hacking the psvita is relatively easy.After hacking install homebrew browser, plugin browser and pkgj(to download psvita games with one tap).There are a lot of tutorials on youtube but once you start to understand its childplay.I suggest to take more than 8 gb memory card btw. You can also play other emus and ps1 games but anything above ps1 other than psp won't play full speed. Never got retroid pocket but seeing that its cheap most probably it won't play the most demanding emulators at full speed.Also psvita battery is very good and there are some newgen games like ninja gaiden, assassin creed or killzone.

I have to agree. I still like my RG350. It plays all my retro games (and way more) as I remember them, has game saves, sturdy feell and controls, USB-C battery life is long and common to find ever needed replaced.
I've been following the development of this device via your community and I really appreciate the feedback they've taken and the nods to classic retro game color schemes in the RP2. Great review and killer price point!
A small Idea. How about a series like: Whats the best Handheld for *console*. Like for example what is the best retro handheld to emulate N64 or Gba i feel like you can easily find a review for any retro handheld but you cant really find a definitive answer for what Handheld is the best for emulating System x. You could directly compare all games at the same time with other handhelds. I would love this series
I think realistically the only way a console will emulate a certain platform better is if it has more power. Sadly for retro handheld consoles real power is in short supply, we are still not at a stage where retro consoles can compete with even mid range phones on cpu power and because of that emulation quality will always suffer especially on newer systems.
I really like this idea! I unfortunately agree with corsinivideos as well - like, it's telling that this video and many others about the RP2 Don't have huge playlists of many 'SNES and lower' games, as this is one of the few systems that Finally wouldn't have problems with them. However! I think that would mean a Lot of 'PS1 and up' comparison videos for the next year or so of dedicated handhelds - or really, whenever the Snapdragon 865 phones get to 'midrange or lower' pricing
@MultiTarded Saturn is impossible on this device, N64 is hit or miss and requires some tweaking (despite most videos showing great performance and describe it as out-of-the-box ready...it's not), Dreamcast is same as N64 and may require switching emulators/settings per game (not ideal), DS works well 99% of the time and GBA is awesome. Overall this will run GB/GBC/GBA/GG/TG-16/Genesis/SNES/WonderSwan/DS/PSX flawlessly. N64/DC are on a per emulator/settings basis with variable performance. Saturn is all but impossible.

It’s only $80, as much as just a single old school NES or SNES cartridge used to cost back in the day. This thing seems pretty damn affordable to me, at least for what you’re getting out of it.

that games almost 20 years old considering the average oc back then wasnt great and phones outpace it i cant see why not also runs vs is actually playable is 2 way different things a pi runs n64 games are they playable....eh somewhat deppending on the game but give it a try or look it up who knows what you might find!
I’ve this for almost 7 months now. Its a beautiful console and i’ve beaten zelda oot and the GBA castlevanias, and some NES games. Now i’m going for some PS1 titles. All of the above have worked amazing. Even if the n64 games have a hard time from time to time in open areas (like hyrule field), it works perfectly for me. Go for it, the design is a bless
I actually bought one of these for my little brother's Christmas present last month after watching this video. I also bought one for myself too. In due time, I'll be able to put this thing to the test and see just how good it is. Thanks for introducing me to this item, I know for sure I'm gonna have a real blast with it.
Vinny Avalanche wtf are you talking about this is amazing, native android gaming (just being able to play half life on the go would be worth it to me), then being able to emulate n64, Dreamcast PSP, DS, nothings gonna top that for awhile until we have one that plays GameCube and PS2
@TheGrayton2000 really all you need I’ve got a 1000 and I was surprise that it runs N64 games at least a few lower effort/popular ones like I’m pretty sure it’ll run paper Mario and I’ve got it playing Mario 64 but for some reason (probably the rom) it freezes the whole system when I collect the whomp star so shouldn’t be your go-to but it’s cool. Edit: I was surprise, I really need to reread stuff before I hit post
Great stuff Taki, thank you for the review. For me the fact that this has a pixel density of 229ppi (more than the Vita and fractionally below the 236ppi of the OG Switch's screen) is the real sweet deal of the device - allowing all systems to look sharp and clear. Really it's kinda mind blowing that you can get level of quality and features for $80 (In the UK I got it just under £70 including the shipping). What a deal. I was relieved to hear the Indigo model comes with all white buttons. Of course if the sticks and buttons could all be grey that would be more authentic to my GBA of the past, but since that's not possible, I think indigo with all white buttons and sticks will look fantastic too. I could not work with half grey and half white though - it just looks wrong. Anyway my Indigo is ordered!
Yup this is what i ordered. I have a black DMG but can remember the many times i played at the Gameboy Demonstrationstand at our local Warehouse. Tetris. Love the og colorway.
I had to decide between GBA-color (indigo) and SNES-color (16bit). In the end i chose indigo because i fear that the 16bit color could turn yellow due to sunlight (my original SNES turned yellow...).

Personally I use a Ps4 controller on my phone then use DIG as a frontend to sort my roms. Then i use a combination of retroarch 64, m64, and ppsspp. People who buy these products are usually one looking for the retro feel. The price ranges of these are enough to get you a phone thats stronger than these retrodevices but thats not what theyre paying for. I personally wont get one since I have no connection to that era of gaming since Im 19 but I can see why someone who feels nostalgia for that would get one of these type of products. The convenience of having a seperate emulation device from your main phone, the retro feel, the telescopic view, the built in controllers, and etc. Thats what theyre paying for.
I've been sorta lurking through your videos, taking into consideration the pros and cons of each emulation handheld. This has a perfect size and shape, USB-C charging, RetroArch (which I love as a frontend on my PC, and it also means I can rewind. :P ) and support for up to PS1/N64. Damn, usually I'm never tempted by these Chinese emulator handhelds, but this thing looks really really nice. I would probably pick one up if Dreamcast ran better. Has anybody tried using the reDream emulator on it? That emulator works really well generally. Don't know if it would make a difference between the emulator this one comes with.
@@NiqueSir Ok, I actually understand why you're getting snarky here, but I do want to bring up a point that I don't think gets brought up often enough when it comes to handheld game consoles. I used to be a big fan of the handheld consoles, but as I grew older, I began to use them less and less, but I didn't know why. But when the Switch came out, it finally occurred to me exactly why this was. So let me just ask you, when is it a good time to play on a mobile console? Obviously not in the house, otherwise you might as well just hook the console up to the TV (Switch) or just use your computer to emulate it with a nice controller of your choosing. Alright, so any time you're not at the house. Easy enough. But wait, you probably also shouldn't be playing your handheld when you're at your friends house. It's kinda rude and you should socialize anyway. Ok, so not at your house or anyone else's house or at get-togethers. But wait. You can't really play it at work during lunch breaks because obviously you're eating. And the 15 minute breaks aren't a lot of time to play, although I guess you could squeeze it in. Ok, so not at your home, at get-togethers, or at work. But wait. Obviously you can't play when you're driving. So you can't use it during travel, although I guess you can use it on the bus or plane. So there you go. The only time a handheld console really is able to use its mobile advantage over a PC or home console is if you're on a bus or plane. But people say we're on electronics too much and should take some time to break away from them. And what about reading? Maybe you should try getting through that back catalog of books. Coming back to the laptop now, for the few places you can actually play a game, a semi-competent laptop is better than the handheld because: 1. It can handle outputting video to any TV, making it into an instant split-screen/local play machine. 2. It can handle almost any emulator you throw at it, with full support for advanced features. 3. It can connect to the internet and download whatever you need straight to the device. 4. It can do literally anything else you want it to do if you don't want it to play games, such as play movies, or do something for work.

Dude you should get a 3ds hacked, if you want psx games get a N3ds. I have an old3ds and I have nes, snes, megadrive, gbc, gba, nds, neo geo. Also this year appear the n64 emulator, but it is in Beta and is very promising
Hacked 3DS is no big deal. The PSP runs the same old-school Nintendo games as a hacked 3DS, but has a larger screen. What I REALLY want is for someone to finally make a handheld emulating device that can play *Gamecube* games. Why hasn’t this been done yet?
Awesome little system! I bought a second hand 2DS for $30 and installed CFW to do basically the same thing, only trading PS1/n64/DC for 3ds games. Glad I went that direction, mostly because of price, and so my gf can play animal crossing new leaf/corpse party, but I'm definitely picking up one of these when the next generation comes out and the emulation performance improves a bit more, playing crash team racing on it is too much to pass up. Really an amazing time for nostalgia gaming.
It lacks L3 and R3 buttons, requires tweaking and/or updates for some emulators to run better, and is based on Android. Despite those “flaws,” I love it and ordered one, and an Anbernic RG351V, too. I also appreciate you mentioning the ergonomics as that matters to me with my hands.

Great review. I had no idea I could stream my steam games to this device. This is becoming my next hand held, although I do want the analogue pocket also.
This is amazing! Personally, I would love if Retroid launched a third model, shaped like a DS, in which we could play DS games using both screens, and if we were playing any game that only needed one screen, we would have the option to choose which screen it would be on. And, in such games, we could have the option to show any other open app we desired on the screen not being used by the game. Such as a text app, with which we could take notes of stuff in the game, or a drawing app (in the bottom screen, in this case a touch one), for handwritten notes or drawing important symbols, very useful for memory games.
I’ve been using my Retroid pocket 2 plus for a few days. It works great with my only complaint being it’s size. I find my hands cramping after playing on it for 30 minutes to an hour. My best comparison is playing roblox on a non-plus model iPhone.
I just got into emulation, it is very intimidating at first. With this one, it comes with android out of the package I'm pretty sure (like mentioned in the video), so you could get a gba/gbc/whatever emulator on the google app store or go to the retroid app that you could download on the console (it explains this in this video th-cam.com/video/KoUYu3-9Igg/w-d-xo.html ). sorry if that sounded like a garbled mess haha

That Nintendo Wii theme you are using on Dig is a theme I made for it!! Is that on there by default?? So weird EDIT: Also in my defence, that theme was made for 16:9 screens, so any parts of the layout that are a little off are not my fault, haha

@@taylorthurston3680 I own one and I will say that compared to the RG351p, which is another handheld very similar, the quality isn't all there. Buttons have almost not travel and unlike the retroid, the RG device has two analog sticks and they both click for L3 and R3. The viewing angles on the RG351p are really good as well. Doesn't matter how far you turn it you will be able to see.

@@soulest2081 does this handheld play xbox games? the for all consoles previous to that generation the dpad being parallel to the face buttons is better
But if the dpad was on top and the analog on the bottom you would accidentally hit it with your thumb because it sticks out. Then the analog would have to be a low profile one like on the right side thus making it worse to use. I personally like this layout because I also like to play 3D games on handhels. But if one wants a 2D game handheld only then its another story.
I think this product can improve a lot more and most of the people won’t mind paying up to 40 dollars over the $80 if their will be a better experience

@@davidlynn5362 yeah but tbh this thing blows any rg350 version out of the water. Even the upcoming rg351. The RP2 feels so well built in my hands. It just needs a real joystick on the right. Streaming steam n using TH-cam and Instagram and viewing ur email etc, plus having n64 dreamcast n psp on this makes it untouchable at the moment. All other handhelds need to catch up to this. Love the RP2, I use it everyday

I ordered mine (indigo colored) a few days ago. Im actually hyped about this one. I've always wanted a small but powerful retro console with good build quality.
@@tristandell The additions really elevate the game from "good" to "fantastic." The splitting of leveling between the dragoon levels, the additions and the regular character level ups ensures that you almost always have someone either about to level up, or leveling up now, or just now leveled up and gained a new move. Additions are both highly entertaining, _and_ challenging, and actually confer a powerful benefit if you take the time to learn them. To this day, it's the most entertaining battle system for an RPG, and in fact, it kind of ruined other RPG battle systems for me. It's ridiculously simple, and it makes no sense that games like Final Fantasy continued to have rudimentary battle systems for 10 games while the Legend of Dragoon was doing MULTIPLE things better than any other game in the genre.
Selrisitai Agreed on pretty much all your points. Have you ever played Lost Odyssey? Combos aren't as crazy, but that game is amazing as well. Better story than LoD by far. Amazing soundtrack too. Quite a few party members you can switch around-but many party splits that make the game more dynamic and give party members more use.

@@xxGravyBabyxx nintendo simply cant have EVERY single game available as much as we would all like that its just not possible for so many many reasons first nintendo dont own the rights to all the games im sure you remember those logos at the start of your games those were the publishers and developers the true owners of those games in order for nintendo to release those games again they must reach licensing agreememnts with those publishers second is cost it costs money to convert generate the media and other things needed to release a game and for nintendo to want to do so they need to make money there a company not a charity as much as they want to make you happy they need to keep the lights on or theyll go bankrupt so only games that prove worthwhile to nintendo to give the re-release treatment too will get chosen like mario and zelda games with huge fan bases third is licensing again some games simply cannot be re released no matter how bad nintendo or you or the publisher want it some games are based on franchises whos license agreements have expired like publishing rights to movies so any games based of a licensed franchise like say starwars could not re release the game without getting permission first which there highly unlikley to get next is games like conkers bad fur day the rights to that belong to rare rare belong to microsoft now and getting a agreement between nintendo rare and microsoft is highly unlikley theese days then theres publishers and developers who went bankrupt years ago and nintendo could never get licensing for those games are essentially in limbo forever nintendo would LOVE to make you happy and they dont like upsetting you because there out to make money and if your happy they make money but sadly in todays world its just not possible to do what your asking
@@Sarge92 Why are you acting like it's so hard? It really isn't hard to put a rom on the Switch, it can most definitely emulate up to GameCube perfectly. Nintendo has no problem. The thing is, they're making us wait (NO, you can't excuse how they haven't released a ton of first party games which is why people are so mad) I just don't see how you can realistically defend their laziness besides for the only issue of licensing and that's only for their third party games. It's not applicable for the hundreds of thousands of first party games they haven't released....
My brother is very much into retro gaming and this would be a great way to have all the classics in one place. I'll try to get my hands on this sometime in the future.

I don’t really know why no one in the reviews isn’t talking about this really bad input lag issue, When I first got the unit I was experiencing around 100ms delay on retroarch which in my case is straight up unplayable for faster paced games like f-zero and sonic advanced, with around 10-20hrs total of tweaking I’ve managed to get the delay down to around 20-30ms which is pretty good, only problem is, is that I with all the latency fix settings (run ahead, gpu stuff) I can only really gameboy and NES games properly, all the other systems run super slow and with audio stuttering issues which is really poor and a major letdown for how much hype this system is getting. If anyone knows a miracle fix I would love to know, I really wanna like this handheld, but I can’t ignore this massive issue.
Great review, I wasn't blown away by this device when i first saw it but can see it certainly has some notable advantages over the RK3326 devices. I'm sort of torn on it, as the advantages are considerable ( shoulder buttons, wifi play etc) but it also has certain shortcomings too. I'm just not sure how practical it is for someone just interested in basic 1 player retro gaming. Superficial as it is as well, I just think the device looks a lot worse sat next to the RG350/351 and in terms of control layout just not as well laid out or as practical to carry or play with those odd analogs. Even colour wise I think anbernic devices look better. I also like the simplicity of emulec or batocera on RK3326 devices, yes not as customizable but also just easier to just turn on and play with one straight forward UI. I think as well it seems outside of DS that emulation performance is fairly comparable. I think I will wait to to see what anbernic offer with the RG351 and if retroid refine this product further and release an amended version. The limitation of PSP emulation are still frustrating though. I think mainly because many years later we are still not quite on a level where a PSP (for PSP games) is fully replaceable on a retro handheld. I also have a serious pet hate for old versions of android pre android 7 but also using android without a touchscreen. Ironically I think ZPG actually already nailed the form factor /OS /Screen combination with the original ZPG. Wish they could have just released a new updated version with a modern android version with perhaps an upgraded MTK cpu or something rather than a RK3326 device.

I still like my RG350. It plays all my retro games (and way more) as I remember them, has game saves, sturdy feell and controls, USB-C battery life is long and common to find ever needed replaced.

A small Idea. How about a series like: Whats the best Handheld for *console*. Like for example what is the best retro handheld to emulate N64 or Gba i feel like you can easily find a review for any retro handheld but you cant really find a definitive answer for what Handheld is the best for emulating System x. You could directly compare all games at the same time with other handhelds. I would love this series
I think realistically the only way a console will emulate a certain platform better is if it has more power. Sadly for retro handheld consoles real power is in short supply, we are still not at a stage where retro consoles can compete with even mid range phones on cpu power and because of that emulation quality will always suffer especially on newer systems.
I really like this idea! I unfortunately agree with corsinivideos as well - like, it's telling that this video and many others about the RP2 Don't have huge playlists of many 'SNES and lower' games, as this is one of the few systems that Finally wouldn't have problems with them.
However! I think that would mean a Lot of 'PS1 and up' comparison videos for the next year or so of dedicated handhelds - or really, whenever the Snapdragon 865 phones get to 'midrange or lower' pricing

MultiTarded oh it runs almost everything in Dreamcast, it ran jet grind radio at 30 FPS
@MultiTarded Saturn is impossible on this device, N64 is hit or miss and requires some tweaking (despite most videos showing great performance and describe it as out-of-the-box ready...it's not), Dreamcast is same as N64 and may require switching emulators/settings per game (not ideal), DS works well 99% of the time and GBA is awesome.
Overall this will run GB/GBC/GBA/GG/TG-16/Genesis/SNES/WonderSwan/DS/PSX flawlessly. N64/DC are on a per emulator/settings basis with variable performance. Saturn is all but impossible.

I’ve this for almost 7 months now. Its a beautiful console and i’ve beaten zelda oot and the GBA castlevanias, and some NES games. Now i’m going for some PS1 titles. All of the above have worked amazing. Even if the n64 games have a hard time from time to time in open areas (like hyrule field), it works perfectly for me. Go for it, the design is a bless

@TheGrayton2000 really all you need I’ve got a 1000 and I was surprise that it runs N64 games at least a few lower effort/popular ones like I’m pretty sure it’ll run paper Mario and I’ve got it playing Mario 64 but for some reason (probably the rom) it freezes the whole system when I collect the whomp star so shouldn’t be your go-to but it’s cool.

Great stuff Taki, thank you for the review. For me the fact that this has a pixel density of 229ppi (more than the Vita and fractionally below the 236ppi of the OG Switch's screen) is the real sweet deal of the device - allowing all systems to look sharp and clear. Really it's kinda mind blowing that you can get level of quality and features for $80 (In the UK I got it just under £70 including the shipping). What a deal.
I was relieved to hear the Indigo model comes with all white buttons. Of course if the sticks and buttons could all be grey that would be more authentic to my GBA of the past, but since that's not possible, I think indigo with all white buttons and sticks will look fantastic too. I could not work with half grey and half white though - it just looks wrong. Anyway my Indigo is ordered!

Yup this is what i ordered. I have a black DMG but can remember the many times i played at the Gameboy Demonstrationstand at our local Warehouse. Tetris. Love the og colorway.
I had to decide between GBA-color (indigo) and SNES-color (16bit). In the end i chose indigo because i fear that the 16bit color could turn yellow due to sunlight (my original SNES turned yellow...).
Just ordered a Retro colored version for my downtime at work. This review was awesome, very thorough and informative. I'll definitely be sticking around Taki, you earned my sub!

The only problem of this handhelds is that they keep coming out, and there is always something better.
There's no point in getting one of these, actually. A PSVita can do all of this, but better.

Personally I use a Ps4 controller on my phone then use DIG as a frontend to sort my roms. Then i use a combination of retroarch 64, m64, and ppsspp. People who buy these products are usually one looking for the retro feel. The price ranges of these are enough to get you a phone thats stronger than these retrodevices but thats not what theyre paying for.
I personally wont get one since I have no connection to that era of gaming since Im 19 but I can see why someone who feels nostalgia for that would get one of these type of products. The convenience of having a seperate emulation device from your main phone, the retro feel, the telescopic view, the built in controllers, and etc. Thats what theyre paying for.
I've been sorta lurking through your videos, taking into consideration the pros and cons of each emulation handheld.
This has a perfect size and shape, USB-C charging, RetroArch (which I love as a frontend on my PC, and it also means I can rewind. :P ) and support for up to PS1/N64. I think this may be the one I jump on. Thanks for such an informative review, Taki!

Damn, usually I'm never tempted by these Chinese emulator handhelds, but this thing looks really really nice. I would probably pick one up if Dreamcast ran better. Has anybody tried using the reDream emulator on it? That emulator works really well generally. Don't know if it would make a difference between the emulator this one comes with.

@@NiqueSir Ok, I actually understand why you're getting snarky here, but I do want to bring up a point that I don't think gets brought up often enough when it comes to handheld game consoles.
I used to be a big fan of the handheld consoles, but as I grew older, I began to use them less and less, but I didn't know why. But when the Switch came out, it finally occurred to me exactly why this was.
So let me just ask you, when is it a good time to play on a mobile console? Obviously not in the house, otherwise you might as well just hook the console up to the TV (Switch) or just use your computer to emulate it with a nice controller of your choosing.
Alright, so any time you're not at the house. Easy enough. But wait, you probably also shouldn't be playing your handheld when you're at your friends house. It's kinda rude and you should socialize anyway. Ok, so not at your house or anyone else's house or at get-togethers. But wait. You can't really play it at work during lunch breaks because obviously you're eating. And the 15 minute breaks aren't a lot of time to play, although I guess you could squeeze it in.
Ok, so not at your home, at get-togethers, or at work. But wait. Obviously you can't play when you're driving. So you can't use it during travel, although I guess you can use it on the bus or plane.
So there you go. The only time a handheld console really is able to use its mobile advantage over a PC or home console is if you're on a bus or plane. But people say we're on electronics too much and should take some time to break away from them. And what about reading? Maybe you should try getting through that back catalog of books.
Coming back to the laptop now, for the few places you can actually play a game, a semi-competent laptop is better than the handheld because:
1. It can handle outputting video to any TV, making it into an instant split-screen/local play machine.
2. It can handle almost any emulator you throw at it, with full support for advanced features.
3. It can connect to the internet and download whatever you need straight to the device.
4. It can do literally anything else you want it to do if you don't want it to play games, such as play movies, or do something for work.
I'm kinda lazy with setting up tech emulation stuff so having it pre configured is AWESOME.

Dude you should get a 3ds hacked, if you want psx games get a N3ds. I have an old3ds and I have nes, snes, megadrive, gbc, gba, nds, neo geo. Also this year appear the n64 emulator, but it is in Beta and is very promising
Hacked 3DS is no big deal. The PSP runs the same old-school Nintendo games as a hacked 3DS, but has a larger screen. What I REALLY want is for someone to finally make a handheld emulating device that can play *Gamecube* games. Why hasn’t this been done yet?
Awesome little system! I bought a second hand 2DS for $30 and installed CFW to do basically the same thing, only trading PS1/n64/DC for 3ds games. Glad I went that direction, mostly because of price, and so my gf can play animal crossing new leaf/corpse party, but I'm definitely picking up one of these when the next generation comes out and the emulation performance improves a bit more, playing crash team racing on it is too much to pass up. Really an amazing time for nostalgia gaming.
It lacks L3 and R3 buttons, requires tweaking and/or updates for some emulators to run better, and is based on Android. Despite those “flaws,” I love it and ordered one, and an Anbernic RG351V, too. I also appreciate you mentioning the ergonomics as that matters to me with my hands.

Personally, I would love if Retroid launched a third model, shaped like a DS, in which we could play DS games using both screens, and if we were playing any game that only needed one screen, we would have the option to choose which screen it would be on.
And, in such games, we could have the option to show any other open app we desired on the screen not being used by the game. Such as a text app, with which we could take notes of stuff in the game, or a drawing app (in the bottom screen, in this case a touch one), for handwritten notes or drawing important symbols, very useful for memory games.
2 screen (One of them touch) would end up too expensive imo.

I’ve been using my Retroid pocket 2 plus for a few days. It works great with my only complaint being it’s size. I find my hands cramping after playing on it for 30 minutes to an hour. My best comparison is playing roblox on a non-plus model iPhone.
I wish I understood emulation. I'd love one of these machines.

I just got into emulation, it is very intimidating at first. With this one, it comes with android out of the package I'm pretty sure (like mentioned in the video), so you could get a gba/gbc/whatever emulator on the google app store or go to the retroid app that you could download on the console (it explains this in this video th-cam.com/video/KoUYu3-9Igg/w-d-xo.html ). sorry if that sounded like a garbled mess haha

@@taylorthurston3680 I own one and I will say that compared to the RG351p, which is another handheld very similar, the quality isn't all there. Buttons have almost not travel and unlike the retroid, the RG device has two analog sticks and they both click for L3 and R3. The viewing angles on the RG351p are really good as well. Doesn't matter how far you turn it you will be able to see.

But if the dpad was on top and the analog on the bottom you would accidentally hit it with your thumb because it sticks out. Then the analog would have to be a low profile one like on the right side thus making it worse to use. I personally like this layout because I also like to play 3D games on handhels. But if one wants a 2D game handheld only then its another story.

The RP2 feels so well built in my hands. It just needs a real joystick on the right. Streaming steam n using TH-cam and Instagram and viewing ur email etc, plus having n64 dreamcast n psp on this makes it untouchable at the moment. All other handhelds need to catch up to this. Love the RP2, I use it everyday

But tbh, my RG350M is almost perfect for me. I like the form factor and the build. Missing reliable N64 capability is the only thing that makes me even look into other handhelds right now.
@@CHAOS3RDEYE My understanding is that this product is about the same performance as a OGA/RK2020/RG351? in that both still only able to run some 3D PSP games fully with many other 3D games dropping frame/slow down etc.
Have anyone did a direct review comparison with Retroid Pocket 2 against RK2020? Would love to see that.

The splitting of leveling between the dragoon levels, the additions and the regular character level ups ensures that you almost always have someone either about to level up, or leveling up now, or just now leveled up and gained a new move.
Additions are both highly entertaining, _and_ challenging, and actually confer a powerful benefit if you take the time to learn them.
To this day, it's the most entertaining battle system for an RPG, and in fact, it kind of ruined other RPG battle systems for me. It's ridiculously simple, and it makes no sense that games like Final Fantasy continued to have rudimentary battle systems for 10 games while the Legend of Dragoon was doing MULTIPLE things better than any other game in the genre.
Selrisitai Agreed on pretty much all your points. Have you ever played Lost Odyssey? Combos aren't as crazy, but that game is amazing as well. Better story than LoD by far. Amazing soundtrack too. Quite a few party members you can switch around-but many party splits that make the game more dynamic and give party members more use.

first nintendo dont own the rights to all the games im sure you remember those logos at the start of your games those were the publishers and developers the true owners of those games in order for nintendo to release those games again they must reach licensing agreememnts with those publishers
second is cost it costs money to convert generate the media and other things needed to release a game and for nintendo to want to do so they need to make money there a company not a charity as much as they want to make you happy they need to keep the lights on or theyll go bankrupt so only games that prove worthwhile to nintendo to give the re-release treatment too will get chosen like mario and zelda games with huge fan bases
third is licensing again some games simply cannot be re released no matter how bad nintendo or you or the publisher want it some games are based on franchises whos license agreements have expired like publishing rights to movies so any games based of a licensed franchise like say starwars could not re release the game without getting permission first which there highly unlikley to get
next is games like conkers bad fur day the rights to that belong to rare rare belong to microsoft now and getting a agreement between nintendo rare and microsoft is highly unlikley theese days
then theres publishers and developers who went bankrupt years ago and nintendo could never get licensing for those games are essentially in limbo forever
nintendo would LOVE to make you happy and they dont like upsetting you because there out to make money and if your happy they make money

@@Sarge92 Why are you acting like it's so hard? It really isn't hard to put a rom on the Switch, it can most definitely emulate up to GameCube perfectly. Nintendo has no problem. The thing is, they're making us wait (NO, you can't excuse how they haven't released a ton of first party games which is why people are so mad) I just don't see how you can realistically defend their laziness besides for the only issue of licensing and that's only for their third party games. It's not applicable for the hundreds of thousands of first party games they haven't released....

I don’t really know why no one in the reviews isn’t talking about this really bad input lag issue, When I first got the unit I was experiencing around 100ms delay on retroarch which in my case is straight up unplayable for faster paced games like f-zero and sonic advanced, with around 10-20hrs total of tweaking I’ve managed to get the delay down to around 20-30ms which is pretty good, only problem is, is that I with all the latency fix settings (run ahead, gpu stuff) I can only really gameboy and NES games properly, all the other systems run super slow and with audio stuttering issues which is really poor and a major letdown for how much hype this system is getting. If anyone knows a miracle fix I would love to know, I really wanna like this handheld, but I can’t ignore this massive issue.

Great review, I wasn't blown away by this device when i first saw it but can see it certainly has some notable advantages over the RK3326 devices. I'm sort of torn on it, as the advantages are considerable ( shoulder buttons, wifi play etc) but it also has certain shortcomings too. I'm just not sure how practical it is for someone just interested in basic 1 player retro gaming. Superficial as it is as well, I just think the device looks a lot worse sat next to the RG350/351 and in terms of control layout just not as well laid out or as practical to carry or play with those odd analogs. Even colour wise I think anbernic devices look better. I also like the simplicity of emulec or batocera on RK3326 devices, yes not as customizable but also just easier to just turn on and play with one straight forward UI. I think as well it seems outside of DS that emulation performance is fairly comparable. I think I will wait to to see what anbernic offer with the RG351 and if retroid refine this product further and release an amended version. The limitation of PSP emulation are still frustrating though. I think mainly because many years later we are still not quite on a level where a PSP (for PSP games) is fully replaceable on a retro handheld. I also have a serious pet hate for old versions of android pre android 7 but also using android without a touchscreen. Ironically I think ZPG actually already nailed the form factor /OS /Screen combination with the original ZPG. Wish they could have just released a new updated version with a modern android version with perhaps an upgraded MTK cpu or something rather than a RK3326 device.
