On my first distrokid year I went Musician, everything it's dope and awesome, except that you can't decide the exact day and time of your release or send it to spotify playlists, then I upgrated to Musician Plus and now I have total control of everything. totally a good idea! :)
It really is worthwhile to have that extra control over your music releases.

Correct me if I'm wrong- One of the most important, overlooked feature of Musician Plus is that the artist is able to pitch their song to Spotify Curators which is otherwise not possible in the 'Musician' plan?
I didn’t actually know there was a specific feature through DistroKid for this? But if you mean that you can delay your release to give you time to promote, then yes.
Very helpful, thank you sir! Do you know if the musician plus plan also allows you to access your Spotify profile/iTunes profile as well? I started uploading music years ago thru Tunecore and I never was able to access my Spotify artist page.
All DistroKid accounts allow you to access Spotify and Apple Music artist features.

I got the musician's plus plan to upload with a 2nd artist name, when uplaoding as the second artist name, how do i link my TH-cam and spotify to that artist name and not my first one? Yes, you’ll need a separate TH-cam channel if you want to turn a second topic in to a second artist channel.

Yup. It’s a good idea in fact because you’ll have more time before the release.
If me and my friend are dropping a song together but we are separate artist and this will be the first time we drop music would we need 2 separate distrokid accounts or just one ? So in the artist name we put each other with the & symbol ?? Can anyone help ??

Hey there. So, sounds like you might have selected Facebook as a release location. Facebook then adds your song to it’s content library and doesn’t allow it to be used.
I haven’t quite confirmed whether this doesn’t happen if you exclude Facebook when releasing as a destination? I’m not sure there is anything you can do to change it once they have it flagged though?

Mr Johns, I would like to ask a question regarding the Musician Plus plan. So a friend of mine started a distrokid account (buying the Musician Plus plan) under her gmail address, so both her account and my account are under her gmail address. However it's really inconvenient for me to upload my stuff when it's her address and not mine, since I will be collaborating with other artists in the future. (for example, I will be doing a cover of another artist's song with his permission, and we'll be uploading the song afterwards) Is it okay if I change the gmail address back to mine? Is this going to accidentally create a new distrokid account that costs us more money? Will it affect the other artist account that is opened under my friend's gmail account? Or will this automatically cancel the plan we have been using?
So the main question is, under the Musician Plus plan, can the two artist accounts be under two different gmail accounts?

Hey there. Short answer is that a DistroKid account can only have one email address. You can change this, but it can’t be one that is already connected to a separate account. If you’re sharing the two artist names on one account and email address, the best would be to use a shared email address you both have access to. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid

Having the same address for two completely different projects sounds like a nightmare. (I couldn't find anything on their FAQ, and it's impossible to reach them with a request since they now use a Bot supposed to give answers haha)

If you want a completely separate experience, I would just add a second Musician plan under a new email address. The Musician Plus plan will be under your same DistroKid account, but will create a new artist name with a separate Spotify Artists page, etc. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid

Hey Tim. Great to hear from you as always. Yes, you can indeed use the Musician Plus plan to “share” an account with someone else. Just keep in mind that from a tax perspective, a singe entity needs to be named for the account. You can report out on earnings by artist name and then manually split them, but it can get messy if you start making a lot of taxable income. A good problem to have I guess?

I guess what I meant was that if, on my Musician Plus plan, I add another artist name (the young lady who I chose to sing my song - more on this in my email to you later this week), and then release a song under her name .... then I presume that only her name will appear on the music stores as the artist? I hope so, as I want to be in the background on this one! However, if she has her own Distrokid account, and I have mine but also have her as another artist on my account .... will that cause an issue - or not?
Further, if I select her 50% and me 50% to share any royalties ..... I believe that she also has to set up a Distrokid account so that she is recognised and the money is sent to her PayPal account on that? Sorry to bother you on this!

Another question... Spotify removed a LOT of fair and unfair songs and they blocked new artists to start their careers. So, if you got streams for like 1 month and after that, Spotify removed your song like that, do you still get those royalties u earned before they removed your song?
I would imagine they will still pay any outstanding royalties, assuming they weren't removed due to any sort of terms of service violation.

Hi Pete. Sorry I haven’t been here in a long time. I have a girlfriend since two months ago. LOL I’m in love. But still making beats. But yes. On Friday I got two surprises. I got my iPhone 12 mini with 64 GB and I also got my iPhone 12 promax gold 512 GB. I was supposed to get the iPhone 12 promax on December 9 but I got it earlier. It’s cool

But something cool and confusing with the 12 mini. The mixer is on the left Side of the stop button. I thought that since it’s smaller that it was going to be like the iPhone 6s or the iPhone 7 where you have to press the settings to pull up the mixer but no. Is right next to the stop button. Like the new iPhones. That is so cool.
I actually bought the 12 mini for my girlfriend. She really needed it. She’s blind too. She’s jumping from the seven to this one. It’s going to be a super exaggeration upgrade for her. And I showed her how to use GarageBand she knows how to make ringtones because of me. But her iPhone 7. The battery capacity is at 70%. 30 to GB So this is gonna be a huge upgrade.
Once I get my cases. I’m going to record and I will let you know the experience.

I'd say stay the he'll away from the wheel of playlist DistroKid offers... I spinned ''12'' I got a huge spike for one day. A bunch of streams and listens from people outside my target audience. Which already sends bad data into Spotify. You'll also get picked up by bot playlists. It's scammy as hell which no one expects from a feature offered by their distributor.
Thanks for sharing the info here Josephine. I’ve never used it a lot and never been in the top 100 even. But yes, anything that gets you in those scammy playlists can be dangerous.

Probably not. They are only really interested in helping you release your music. Most claims like this are related to US tax laws requiring withholding tax for foreign creators.

I hate how technology is making everyone think they are a "musician" because the can click a mouse
