Hey there Pete, quick question regarding of making a second artist name. I have uploaded a track for a friend of mine, where it's still in the pre-release process as of now (more than 2 weeks) and was wondering on how to claim the second Spotify Artist Page, due to it telling me I've already claimed an 'Early Access Account' where I wanted to claim his account before the official release. @@sketch2745 Yup! We'll also need a different email for the group than I'm using for my solo project. Will I be able to do this through my 2nd artist name? Thanks!
If you need a completely different login and email address for the DistroKid management you’d need a separate account. You can do al this through the one account and you will get a lot of the Musician Plus benefits from doing this, but it will be slightly more difficult to manage.
Hey, I have a question. If you can create 2 accounts, how can you access the 2nd account? I mean, you obviously don't have access to this account, or do you?
Hey there. You have one account with DistroKid that has the two artist names. Once you release your first song with the second artist name you then have access to select between the two (or more if you have multiple artist names). You’ll also eventually have Spotify for Artiats and Apple Music artist accounts set up once you have multiple releases. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid

I havent gotten clear info on this. Hey there. This video might as more focused on creating a new and second artist name. Hello, I have a quick question. I just upgraded my plan to musician plus and was charged $35 even though I paid my $20 fee for the basic membership just a few months ago. I won't be charged $55 every year will I?
Hey Sally. With this within your first year? They will pro-rate your payment in the first year but not in subsequent years. You will only be charged the single yearly amount from now on however.
Hi Pete, i've released some cover song, now I want to delete and release them as one album, do I need to choose a cover song again or re use ISRC code and find?
You will need to again declare them as a cover song but not sure how this works for having the single and the song on an album. You might need to reach out to DistroKid directly to confirm. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
Generally you can simply add a featured artist to the title. Or if it’s a collaboration where you want to split royalties, you can use the Teams feature. All of his is covered over on my DistroKid FAQ - studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
If I don’t put the their name on the title. Will it still show up on the artist page if I used their name in the credits and used their email for splits?
Hey there. The artist name and title are completely separate from the meta data you enter. The stores will just grab the artist name and title directly. If there's a featured artist, or you have splits set up, it won't really do anything on Spotify, Apple Music etc.
Great video, and I love the track from what I heard. If I add featured artists to a track, and they don't currently have a Spotify Profile (They haven't released anything yet) how does that work?
Features artists are only part of the track title so will not show on your Artist pages. You can set up splits in DistroKid for sharing revenue. th-cam.com/video/RSME-UlEzfg/w-d-xo.html
Hey, John. Hope all is well. So just to be clear, I release my music using a second artist name by releasing my songs with both my real name and my stage name? Thanks!

I could be "B-Dawgg" instead, which isn't taken
You can use a duplicate name, it I always recommend to try to pick a unique name, as it prevents issues with songs showing up on the incorrect artist in Spotify, Apple Music etc. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
If i released music as a different name prior, but then deleted the music because of how common the name was and then created a new one. Now its time to change it again. do you know if Ill be able to use a second artist name with distrokid considering the first name I registered doesnt have any music released?
You should be able to use the second artist name if you have Musician Plus. If you want to change your origins artist name I believe you would need to ask DistroKid - studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
Thanks for this video! When I try to type in my second artist name, Spotify automatically says "You're all set!", I don't get the chance to say that the artist is not already in Spotify, although I haven't released anything under this name before and there doesn't seem to be any artists of the same name when I've searched on Spotify... Is this ok? Will it still create a new artist account, or does it seem to think one already exists?
Hey there. Yes, if it’s a new name it should just go through and create the new artist. You can always use the “Fixer” tool afterwards if there are any issues.
When I upload a song as the second artist name "wendigo" will it upload to my original artist TH-cam the one I'm using to comment rn? If not do I set up another TH-cam channel for my second artist name?
Yup. Second channel needed.
Thank you so much! Nobody would answer this directly!
🤘😎
Does this apply to Spotify and apple as well? Meaning do I have to reclaim this new artist name after releasing under a new name
This helps thank you 😊
Hey I really need this i’ve been coming to lotta platforms on TH-cam that no one really helped me...my question is how do you Connect your toner mic to settings in iPhone because my mike just sounds really harsh quiet is there anyway I can reduce that or do I need to set my microphone in
Garage band for iOS not Mac users...
Hey there. I would suggest providing more information over at the GarageBand Users Facebook group as there are a heap of great folks there who may be able to help. studiolivetoday.com/gbu
Hello. All well with the video but what about the official artist channel on youtube ? Do we have the right to open a second official youtube artist channel or does the auto-generated video goes on the first ? Thank you
Hey there. So the DistroKid release will go on a “topic” channel. You can then apply through DistroKid to have an artist channel and merge your videos with your music. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
@@PeteJohnsMusic Yes , but do they give the right to us to have a second official artist channel ?
And by the way your videos are super good ! I watch you for about a year !
thanks, was just looking on how to do this!
You’re very welcome my friend. I hope you get value from the other videos here on the channel and consider subscribing. 👍
@@PeteJohnsMusic thanks man will do. Quick question. Once you upload a song with a second artist will it automatically use info from your first. Like pic background and stuff on Spotify and iTunes do you just have to do all that over again or how does that work for 2nd artist? Ty
Hello, do you know how can i add this new artist to my Spotify for artist?
I believe it will set up as a separate artist once you release.
I’ve got a question
So how do I change the profile of the second artist
Hey there. Gnats the profile where sorry? Might be a question for DistroKid. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
@@PeteJohnsMusic Oh okay, no it's my second year. Thank you for responding!
What if I wanna make a collab? How would that work?🤔
Generally you can simply add a featured artist to the title. Or if it’s a collaboration where you want to split royalties, you can use the Teams feature. All of his is covered over on my DistroKid FAQ - studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
@@PeteJohnsMusic Alright thanks!
@@PeteJohnsMusic Will it automatically create a Spotify profile for the artist that's featuring?
i’m unable to claim my spotify for artist account on my second artist alias i recently uploaded a song for. so frustrating
You’ve reached out to DistroKid for help?
studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
Hey, John. Hope all is well. So just to be clear, I release my music using a second artist name by releasing my songs with both my real name and my stage name? Thanks!
Hey there. You can choose whatever artist name you like but the second artist name would be for a second separate separate project. You can’t release the same song under two artist names. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
@@PeteJohnsMusic
I think I get it now. Thanks!
Thanks for the video !!! But I'm having a problem. I have Musician Plus account and one album under each artist name. Now I when I want to add a single to one of them Distrokid says: "Your current plan only allows 2 artist names. To use more artist names, please upgrade your account." But I am not trying to add an artist name just adding songs to the existing ones. Please maybe you can help. Support is silent as dead. Thank You.
Hey there. You should just be able to use the drop down to select one or your two artist names. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
@@PeteJohnsMusic I am using the drop down. DK tells me that Spotify, Apple Music and TH-cam Music already has 1 artist with this name (One month ago I uploaded an album from the same account). I am choosing "That's me". But in the end: "Your current plan only allows 2 artist names. To use more artist names, please upgrade your account."
I wonder if there's anything like this for artists. As in painters.
That’s a great question! Unfortunately I lm definitely not an expert in this area.

It sure what you’re asking sorry? All my DistroKid info is here. Http://studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
Will doing this create a seperate account on Spotify for my second artist? Or will I have to make a whole new account
It will create a new Spotify for Artists account for you.
@@PeteJohnsMusic will I lose previous progress on my other account ?
thank you so much :) will it then automatically be connected to the personal spotify profile, where the first artist page is already connected with?
It will create a new Spotify Artist profile once you have released multiple songs.
studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
Is there a way I can remove the second artist I added on my distrokid?
Good question? If they have no active releases and you want to change to another artist name you might need to get DistroKid to fix this for you. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
can you edit the second artist Spotify. like Spotify for artists?
Once you release, an artist account will be set up for your second artist. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
@@PeteJohnsMusic thank you
Would this be a way to make a second topic channel
Yup. You’ll get a new topic channel once you release your second song under your second artist name.
@@PeteJohnsMusic thank you! I already have a personal topic page for my own music, but I was thinking of creating a second topic page that includes not only just my music, but along with the music that my team composed altogether. I do have one more question, if my music is already on my personal topic channel, but I also be able to include it on my second topic as well?
Hi is there any way to make the second artist name the main one?
I don’t believe so? But I’m not sure it would make any difference?
Hi Man! Awesome Content 🤙🏻 I have one problem still and i'm not able to find any solution.. i have the + abo, so i can have two artist accounts. I did write a song with a friend of mine and we want to be both main artists for this song on our release, that's why i chose the + abo. but somehow it is not possible to have both accounts for our first co-release-upload.. if we use our names with a "," in-between, then we only get one spotify account access and not two... is there any solution for that or am i on a wrong train of thoughts.. 😩 thanks for your answers and the whole community :) cheers
Hey there. Maybe check in with DistroKid directly on this one as I’m not sure. studiolivetoday.com/distrokid
Thank you!

Hi Pete I was gonna ask because my friend recently dropped a song on spotify, my Spotify name IS "VIVID EVIL" and when he dropped it it didn't go on my account it went onto another account called "VIVID EVIL" the exact name so I don't know what to do but I'd rather get the credit for being a feature instead of a random person 😂
DistroKid has a “Fixer” tool that can…. Fix this! You’ll just need to go to your DistroKid account and provide some details.
@@PeteJohnsMusicone more thing are u able to remove song after releasing them
Hi! Does anybody knows how to add a band which name includes “&” sign without the system detecting it as two diffrent artists?

Any way to EDIT and EXISTING RELEASE to add a second artist or it has to be done during the initial upload? Thanks, very thorough and helpful btw.
Hey there. Generally need to remove and re-release for changes like that. th-cam.com/video/VrCaDHtiizA/w-d-xo.html
Will I get verified on my second account as well on TH-cam and Spotify, I just searched tht everywhere but no answers, thank you in advance ☺️
I’m actually not sure sorry? I’m in the same position as just releases a song using my second artist name, so will definitely make a video once I find out.
