nvm I did some more research. So leave your legacy is only if like your credit card doesn't go through or theres some bank error, but yeah if you leave they'll take everything down.
Main issue is Distrokid with additional fees. Example my project has 12 songs thats an extra $12 alone just for Shazam which is a mandatory store for an indie artist. Plus $5 for this, $2 for that. Tunecore seems better
Charles Cleyn as a radio personality and artist as well Shazam is an important element to indie music. If I debut a song on air, without Shazam listeners wont be able to find the record. This is instrumental in furthering your reach & fan base
Remember that Shazam is owned by Apple, which is why songs on Apple Music are AUTOMATICALLY added to Shazam. You do not need to pay separately for Siri or Shazam as long as your song is on Apple Music
Tunecore is just very expensive. It offers more for a higher price, therefor its not something i would recommend when starting out. Maybe if you become a larger artist and the music starts paying for itself plus excess moving from distro to tunecore is a better idea. I started off on tunecore and found it too expensive for starting out and moved to distro kid and have loved it ever since. I dont think i would move even if i gained a larger following
So charles, can we arrange our copyright if we distribute our songs into one of those agregator? I mean, for example, i uploaded my music instrument songs into youtube to promote my songs to anybody who want to use my songs for their content, and if they pay the licence they can use my music for fully monetize on their content. Is that possible to do that?
my friend is an artist, he has a distrokid account and i’m also his manager. he already posted some songs with distrokid 🤩. sometimes he’s busy and he cannot post his songs by himself. I just created a distrokid account and i’m wondering if it’s possible to upload his songs with my distrokid account ? i guess it’s possible to do it by using his name and adding his spotify and apple music url when i want to upload the music but i’m not sure
If I get the second tear an I have other artist feature in my songs from time to time am I allowed to do that with out a problema. Or what do you recommend if I will be the one using my own platform an have people feature in my songs. Does it matter how many people feature my song an am I allowed to upload it.or having the second tear I will only be able Tj upload the songs only I sing or rap in?
DistroKid either added that in disguised to be taken as a joke, or it probably simply just means if you stop using distributors, your music will be on the platforms forever, even if you die...
I just watched another vid pointing out that if you're based outside the U.S., Distrokid withhold 30 percent of your royalties for taxes. This channel has 340k subs and a lot of industry respect, so I assume it's true. Have you heard of this? P.S. I asked the same question on another channel - he also offered a 7 percent discount to sign up to distrokid - and he immediately blocked me. You seem like a decent guy, so I hope you can share some honest insights into this. Thanks. *EDIT* My apologies I see you addressed this in a comment below. Do Tunecore, cdbaby and others have the same restrictive tax laws as Distrokid for musicians outside of the U.S. or Canada?
Hey brad, ya that’s true. Actually because of that video I think distrokid is starting to become more transparent about it. But ya you have to pay the US income tax because it’s an American company but since you already pay the income tax in your own country, that doesn’t make sense right? This is why countries have tax treaties which means you don’t have to pay 2 taxes on one income. so for me I’m in Canada and I only pay the Canadian income tax because of the tax treaty with the US
@@CharlesCleyn Okay I understand - thanks Charles. Do you know if the same applies for tunecore or cdbaby? If so, can you suggest any good digital distributors outside of the U.S.?

Main issue is Distrokid with additional fees. Example my project has 12 songs thats an extra $12 alone just for Shazam which is a mandatory store for an indie artist. Plus $5 for this, $2 for that. Tunecore seems better
True, it adds up. Is shazam included with tunecore?
Charles Cleyn yes it’s included
Charles Cleyn as a radio personality and artist as well Shazam is an important element to indie music. If I debut a song on air, without Shazam listeners wont be able to find the record. This is instrumental in furthering your reach & fan base
Remember that Shazam is owned by Apple, which is why songs on Apple Music are AUTOMATICALLY added to Shazam. You do not need to pay separately for Siri or Shazam as long as your song is on Apple Music
Oh really? Didn't know about this, have you tested this?
Could you use both?
Tunecore is just very expensive. It offers more for a higher price, therefor its not something i would recommend when starting out. Maybe if you become a larger artist and the music starts paying for itself plus excess moving from distro to tunecore is a better idea. I started off on tunecore and found it too expensive for starting out and moved to distro kid and have loved it ever since. I dont think i would move even if i gained a larger following

Does TuneCore or DistroKid is able to deliver any kind of CopyRight document to be registered to USPTO? Thank YOU
So charles, can we arrange our copyright if we distribute our songs into one of those agregator? I mean, for example, i uploaded my music instrument songs into youtube to promote my songs to anybody who want to use my songs for their content, and if they pay the licence they can use my music for fully monetize on their content. Is that possible to do that?
So all in all tunecore is the best music distributor?

I just created a distrokid account and i’m wondering if it’s possible to upload his songs with my distrokid account ? i guess it’s possible to do it by using his name and adding his spotify and apple music url when i want to upload the music but i’m not sure

Warning, Distrokidd Leave legacy only works where the artist dies.
DistroKid either added that in disguised to be taken as a joke, or it probably simply just means if you stop using distributors, your music will be on the platforms forever, even if you die...
I use distrokid.
You can always change it over.
