Did OIC conducted any drug test for this event?

They were all tested, but with the PED's it was not a day of competition drug. They were taken over time, either orally or by injections. In 1989, when the Berlin Wall came down, secret documents were found, saying who was getting these Peformance Enhancers. It was years down the road after many of these GDR swimmers/track/field retired, that the side effects were noticed. Faust Gold is a great book detailing how many in the GDR were given shots/pills, and what long term effect it had on these women's health!!!!!

It should also be noted, that 2 years after the 1976 Summer Olympic Games, where the GDR women dominated in nearly all the swimming events losing only to the Soviet Union in the 200m Breastroke and the Americans in the 4x100m free relay, in 1978 the GDR women only won 1 Gold Medal. Many of the GDR women may have failed their drug tests in 78 and were not allowed to swim in those championships. I am not sure, if this occurred, but it seems really odd, that in previous Worlds and in 1976, where they dominated in the swimming championships, they could only win 1 Gold Medal, and that was won by Barbara Krause, who was not in Montreal 2 years before.

You “forgot” to mention that the American women had a stellar competition at these championships. The USA featured a 14 year old Cynthia Woodhead who came out of nowhere to obliterate world records set by the ominous GDR women! Moral of the tale: the USA is just as questionable in a lot of ways.

@@TheCopper05 from what I recall those worlds took place after one of the East German athletes failed a drug test. They might have weaned their athletes off of them just in case.

It's serk as in jerk not search.....can americans talk properly??????

Actually, you should have used the word 'speak ' instead of 'talk'. What is with the improper spacing? Why did you not capitalize Americans? It is not a surprise that the people who constantly complain about other's grammar or speaking or pronunciation are not capable of those things themselves.

And in fact, he gave the wrong pronouncation, too. It is unlikely that english speakers get that one right. You don't have an equivalent of the "ch" at the end in english.
So it is made into "search" which sounds faulty for germans. Peace! from Germany
