Hello! COMPOUND dev here; thank you covering my game! And thanks for pronouncing my name correctly; most people (understandably) assume it's "muh-kech-nee" so respect for getting it right. As for the background story of the easter egg, the user called Diency who you mention as the second commenter in the video, was my first "superfan" and singly-handedly found dozens of bugs so I agreed to add a couple of easter eggs of his choice into the game. The wet floor sign was one of them. There is actually another one equally well hidden! BTW you don't need cheats to get to either of the easter eggs; there are proper super sneaky in-game ways to get there :D

Order and chaos had holiday events where npc would wear Christmas costumes in the whispering island area the event was being held. There were also lottery based items you could try to get. My guess is that npc was just left over after the event ended

Crazy how almost everything featured on this channel is new to me, and when it isn’t he manages to provide new insight or opinions on it. And he gives credits for the discoverers so that’s way more than a lot of typical “creepy video game discoveries” channels can say.

I think I might know what's going on in Bioshock.
Every model has an index reference number. She has predetermined actions in that particular scene. I think they animated the scene first, then put copies of her in there for the shadows, but her copies started acting out the scene too, just some different starting points, causing chaos. Normally, you make a second character index slot for all characters that get a scene, in order to avoid issues like this. The cheapest & fastest way to fix it was to just load in another character to do the shadows, as long as the player couldn't see it.
i thought it had something to do with game fuckery
They could also just used a random model to have shadows, especially since there isn't a specific animation for the scene, but a random animation.
More likely they just wanted to the lighting engine to hit a model in a particular way to create an effect. It doesn't matter what model it is (provided is has the light collision data) because the player isn't supposed to see it, so they just chose a model at random and called it a day.
@@leons.kennedy2747 That's close to what I was thinking, though Cohen wasn't a random choice - I think they specifically used that model for several reasons. One, it would have already been loaded into the map from the earlier encounter, two, Cohen's model likely had more complex articulation than a random Splicer would have, so mapping the dance routine to him would have been easier and three, his model was already solid and had the proper light blocking values to create shadows under the door where the ghost model didn't.
That's all pure speculation mind you, I have no idea how Bioshock's models actually work. I'm just going on my limited layman's knowledge gleaned from other gaming channels that try to explain how game programming works.

The Droid in Jabba's palace is probably a reference to the "Assessment" room, aka the "Droid torture chamber" scene from episode 6. The droid model in question there is supposed to be CZ-4 (You can tell by the Chasis) Who was in a heap with its arm raised in a corner of the room in the movie.
I came here to say that. There's a droid getting tortured on this map in BF2 I believe.
I have better footage of this on my channel here. It actually has a face texture as well and defo is CZ-4. Good catch Madhagael!
I was just about to type that also. C3PO actually backs up into this droid while leaving the droid chamber in the film.
And this same droid is seen in a more complete state on the Jawa sandcrawler in the film A New Hope episode 4.
I thought it might also have been a placeholder for the C3PO scene wheres his dismantled.
Now I'm gonna preface this by saying that this is just pure speculation with no evidence, but I think the out of bounds droid in Jabba's Palace could've possibly been an unused asset for an unfinished part of the map. Jabba's palace (in general Star Wars canon, not the game) has a torture chamber for droids, which could've been something the devs wanted to include but never got around to. If that's the case, then the droid is an asset the devs made and would've likely appeared in the room, maybe along with some droids actually being tortured. Again, just speculation but that's the first thing that popped into my mind.
EDIT: He's actually in BF2 being stretched at the northernmost command post.

@@doc_eh2747 Actually found this bit from CZ-1's Wookieepedia page: "The Tatooine protocol droid costume was used three times in the Star Wars films: twice in A New Hope for both CZ-1 and CZ-3, and once in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi for a droid in Jabba's Palace named CZ-4."
So apparently this droid (not really the same but c'mon, same costume for the same line of droids) was actually in Jabba's Palace.

The OOB model in Dust is actually a snowman the devs had used to scale the statues in the distance. At least, that's what I remember when I read about it months back. Always nice to see that game get love.
I'm just glad that Dust an elysian tail got in. And when I saw this I grabbed my Xbox 360 out and started playing after 9 years ago and I found it too. ( P.S , I really love the game so much I bought it again for the Switch to see if it was in Switch version but sadly its not. But at least I can play my favourite game on the go.

I didn't know that Baba Yaga was a real thing before this video. I play Wizard101 semi-frequently, and if you get to the last third of the game, there is a character called Baba Yaga who is pretty integral to the story. I always just thought they gave her a weird name, but it makes sense now considering she is the myth-school scholar.

Oh, Guild Wars 2 has a lot of other interesting OOB discoveries, hehe. Also, you can get to the portal with a flying mount easily, of course it still doesn't work and you only get to see the edge of the map

My favourite video game mystery is still that one where there was a floating platform and people would try to build structures to reach it. Can't remember what game that was, but the fact that a kind of cult developed around this phenomenon was fascinating. It's a study of human psychology in microcosm.
So the model in Battlefront is likely a protocol droid being tortured that just never got finished. Jabba has an entire room dedicated to torturing droids in Return of the Jedi, so you likely arent too far off from a chained up C3PO.
When you start watching oddheader, you realize just how interesting video games are. They aren’t just stupid entertainment, they’re a whole world. Even the stories behind the game are interesting.

The Bioshock one is simple, Sander Cohans model is already loaded for that level, so rather then load another model to cast the shadows they just use Cohan

This is the first time I've ever seen Dust: An Elysian tale mentioned on YT. Safe to say I was pleasantly surprised.

4:49 In Dust Elysian Tail, out of bound object is holding a trident like weapon with cloths wrap around it. But If you watch closely, you can see the same huge cloth wrapping in the game's background of that level.

OG Xbox Battlefront lost 99% of its players when Halo 2 released. We logged on a few days later just to see how many people were playing and it took like 20 minutes to get a match with like 2 other people

I think i may be able to explain the Bioshock one. Its most likely they used those models to create the shadow effect you see from the other side of the door. they probably just reused the Cohen models because they could cast shadows unlike the Jasmine model and the dance was used cause it was already programmed into the game and was easier than making all new models/animations.
Looking at the Guild Wars 2 one, I can speculate a bit; it might be something the team added for the future (because they may have had plans for that area at some time), and they either haven't added it in yet or the idea was scrapped. WoW has something similar pre-Cataclysm in Stormwind; there's a large barred gate with an instance portal on the other side, and there's an identical tower sitting nearby the tower housing the Stockades dungeon that also houses an unused instance portal (or this one also leads to Stockades, can't remember). There's also the unused instance portal in Vash'r that WAS going to be a raid based on the zone, but was scrapped earlier on, yet the portal and tunnel wasn't (and hasn't been, even in Shadowlands), removed.
I remember that one! When a friend and I used to mess around on a private server (a local one, so no other players besides us two) I actually found an unused map that looked like a variant of the Stockades (same props, same textures and same overall design). It didn't seem finished as it was only like two rooms or so and a few hallways, but I'd assume it was related to the Stockades somehow. I've also heard that there was supposed to be areas for player housing at one point, and that the portal was likely meant to lead there. Perhaps the Stockades were meant to be longer at some point.
Some other finds from that time: the area outside of the map in the Deadmines had an unfinished area that looked like a test version of the Outlands, with a few floating islands and upside-down Dalaran domes. Outside of Zul'Gurub there was another very large unfinished area the size of a small outdoor zone with a lot of red desert environments, a Dark Portal and several Orc buildings as well as some strange thorny plants. It looked somewhat like a cross between Durotar and Hellfire Peninsula. There was also a tiny Goblin village on a few islands way, way off the coast of Tanaris (with more buildings underwater iirc), an unfinished area south of Silithus that was likely an early version of Ahn'Qiraj, a small area with a road and a few trees behind the gate to Kul Tiras, and a dwarven farming village on a cliffside area above the Wetlands that was accessible through a tunnel from the Ironforge Airport, both of which had plenty of NPCs walking around. There were also inaccessible areas on the second level of Ironforge and Undercity, and Mount Hyjal was pretty much a finished zone (except for NPCs and enemies), despite not being accessible.
@@cupriferouscatalyst3708 OH yeah, now I remember! The Stockades copy was supposed to be a max level dungeon or something, like a harsher prison than Stockades. God, brings back memories.
And that other SW portal probably did lead to player housing, I know there were early concepts of it since the start. But honestly, after the whole garrison debacle and looking at the cluster fuck that is FFXIVs player housing system, Blizzard probably canned that idea after WoD. And IIRC, the hidden area outside the Deadmines was just a test area I think? I remember hearing or reading a dev thing about how they test stuff outside of the dungeon areas because how the hell you gonna get there?

Could be an easter egg the developers put in reference to Slippy Slides, another TH-camr specializing in out of bounds discoveries. Maybe they put it there for him to find. His logo is a wet floor sign. The wet floor sign is different than his logo but close enough.

I remember on Skylanders swap force there was a creepy kids laugh on the second level.
I also remember there was a ghost and a creepy kid laugh in one of the puzzle rooms in wilikin village in Skylanders Giants. I was stuck on the puzzle, so I spent a good 3 hours in there, and this weird ghost would randomly appear. It was strange.
That intro made me think, "what if you walked into a room in your house and it was entirely different" and then reminded me of a dream I had some time ago where I woke up and came out of my room and all the rooms in the house were swapped around
5:17 If I had to take a guess, I imagine that droid was just going to be decoration for the droid torture chamber as it's body did make an apperance in Return of a Jedi. When EV-9D9 tells the guards to take C-3PO away to bit fitted with a restraining bolt the droid is right by the door with C-3-PO reacting to it. Though in the film it's missing the lower halve of it's body. Either it wasn't completed in time or they decided it wouldn't fit in the game's version of the room.

GW2 Brisband Wildland portal; That map portal has been there from day 1 and that half of the bridge didn't use to have an invisible wall blocking access. Old map breakouts before the Path of Fire xpac that added mounts you could get close to the portal and even walk past it but there was just a drop into the map box under the playable map. Lots of these holes exists in lots of the maps generally as dev oversight because they don't know how a player would figure out how to get there in the first place.
The portal is just an unused asset from early in development, probably from an idea that was discarded along content expansion. No idea if it ever will be used, but 9 years since launch and coming on 3 xpacs later and it's still unused.
For number 7 Bioshock, I think there's two reasons;
For one, Cohen as the mesh is there to make those shadows that you see behind the door, instead of actually making an animation of Ryan beating Jasmine they went for the easy route which I can't blame them at all.
For two, the reason it uses Cohen's model, is...Yes, you are right Oddhead, it's just for fun this time.

I actually returned to GW2 after a 5 year hiatus, and ran into that bridge again not even a week ago. Taking their time is an understatement, it's been 9 years! Didn't notice the "portal" in the distance though. (It's actually a gate to another map, you see them everywhere when traveling between maps.). But hey, new expansion coming in Feb, so maybe it'll be something this time? Guess we'll see...

I’ve done some out of bounds on warframe and DE actually fixed 1 of them back in 2018 by then end of the single platform extraction on an icy corpus planet, if you were to jump above the door on the outside you were able to go inside but now there’s an invisible wall and now you can only LOOK inside. Another one is on the Ceres tileset and I have it saved on my PlayStation and only shared it with one of my friends, it was a neat out of bounds but it’s more for the fun of it than usefulness compared to the icy corpus one were if your team was slow on extraction you could hide in that spot and be invincible yet be able to shoot through the walls and kill enemies. 🌈 The more you know 🌈
There's a new expansion coming out soon for GW2, I expect the portal will finally lead to a new map area sometime during that campaign.

The Valorant one is a common Easter egg. Every map has these animals (usually multiple of each) and while this is definitely dedication to put it that far i wouldn't say it's weird or crazy to see
we're starting to have some not so crazy out of bounds discoveries when 2 of the entries are an unused hole in a wall and and something that can be seen outside of the normal player boundary.
that latter one reminds me of this house currently outside the player boundary in Genshin Impact.
you can get kind of close to it, but its clearly a low detail model.
what i wonder is if it will still be there when the game is updated so that area will be playable.

Meat is not a snake and does not use a top hat and cane ever. Meat is wrinkly, it has sort of a crying eye and sad mouth. 100% not it.

Bioshock is probably making use of an animation that was already loaded into memory. Funny to me it's a dancing character, for casting dancing shadows..!
