I appreaciate how honest you both are when it comes to doing activities with Rupert. So many TH-camrs with children always make it seem like the activity went perfectly i.e no clean up was needed at all, the child was completely into the activity the entire time, and of course it all started and ended the same day/evening.

They're so funny at this age. They can't exactly form a sentence per se (though I heard him copying a few words there! I've gathered from some of your past videos Rupert's a lot more skilled at sign language) but they can still make it pretty clear what they want, are thinking, feeling, etc. He's a proper little dude in his apron :3

Seeing parents respect a child’s various stimming needs makes me so happy 🥲 it’s a perfectly reasonable request they can easily accommodate, and there’s way less chance he’ll grow up with those needs internalized as “overreacting” when it’s not. Kids also have an understanding of their own bodies and comfort.

I will never get parents who just want their kid not bugging them when they're cooking or cleaning when they're little, and then turn around and wonder why the kid has neither skill nor interest in helping with that sort of thing once they're old enough to do it themselves.

I'm trying to learn BSL/SSE so that when I have kids, it's a natural part of their language development and it'll hopefully come to them a lot easier than it's coming to me lol

Its also so great to see this montessori style respect and encouraging his capability patiently at his open speed.. Such beautiful parenting!! And omg also how amazing is sign language that hes able to communicate and empathise with complex emotions while signing.. So many kids at that age only just starting a few words have no way to communicate about that til much much later on when their vocab picks up around 2!! How wonderfully empowering for him! Im still so shocked by the news that baby sign was an invented code not a part of the usual sign language skill set, so I really appreciate seeing you guys using full sign so effectively in the same way id used baby sign in the past.. I wish id known that earlier on in my life, but great to see it now
This brought back such memories of cooking/baking with my daughter when she was Rupert's age. I think I learned more than she...certainly about patience and releasing perfectionism. On the other hand, she grew up to be a fine baker, so she may have learned something, too. And the memories made are, of course, most valuable of all.

I spent a great deal of time baking with my mom and grandma growing up. I love that to this day. Makes me miss my grandma but its a great way to remember her
This reminds me so much of my mom baking with my brother and me, absolute chaos and the whole kitchen needed cleaning from ceiling to floor but we all had a blast and it made for fun memories :3

Have you considered mixing bowls with silicone on the bottom? With a sous chef that’s 18 months old, it prevents the bowl from sliding, possibly off the counter and into many sharp pieces on the floor

I did notice that I could see his face a little more in this video than in others and I wanted to mention it in case it wasn’t intentional because it surprised me. (This is 100% *not* a criticism, I just think that you have changed videos when other people pointed it out in the past.)

Have you considered mixing bowls with silicone on the bottom? With a sous chef that’s 18 months old, it prevents the bowl from sliding, possibly off the counter and into many sharp pieces on the floor
