A very assertive young lad who knows what he needs: clean hands at all times
Seeing parents respect a child’s various stimming needs makes me so happy 🥲 it’s a perfectly reasonable request they can easily accommodate, and there’s way less chance he’ll grow up with those needs internalized as “overreacting” when it’s not. Kids also have an understanding of their own bodies and comfort.

I appreaciate how honest you both are when it comes to doing activities with Rupert. So many TH-camrs with children always make it seem like the activity went perfectly i.e no clean up was needed at all, the child was completely into the activity the entire time, and of course it all started and ended the same day/evening.

Claudia is wearing makeup?!? Also, I appreciate that you're involving him in the cooking even though it makes it harder. That is so important for child development, not only of skills but of character, and the expectation that they will pitch in and help with family chores to the extent that they are able. I will never get parents who just want their kid not bugging them when they're cooking or cleaning when they're little, and then turn around and wonder why the kid has neither skill nor interest in helping with that sort of thing once they're old enough to do it themselves.

My favorite part was when you had him tap the bowl of flour, and he said "tap tap" and you could see his hand tapping the bowl 🥰
They're so funny at this age. They can't exactly form a sentence per se (though I heard him copying a few words there! I've gathered from some of your past videos Rupert's a lot more skilled at sign language) but they can still make it pretty clear what they want, are thinking, feeling, etc. He's a proper little dude in his apron :3

As someone who started having scoliosis at a very young age, and has to live with it and with the incredibly stressful, shameful body dysmorphia it gives me, to see Jessica gracefully accepting this part of herself almost brings tears to my eyes. It gives me hope, too, it brings peace to my mind that is constantly scrutinizing the reflection in the mirror, how I stay still, how I walk, how I seat, how I breathe...
Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

😂 14:30 I was so glad Claudia mentioned that, I thought I'd somehow missed that her hair was shorter from the beginning of the video, but no! This was a beautiful video, I appreciate getting to join you in your Christmas family activities without featuring Rupert too prominently or showing his face. I also noticed what Jessica has talked about, with Rupert talking to her in sign, it was really cool to see that authentic interaction!

Language is so interesting... When you said biscuits, I thought baking powered biscuits but no for us North Americans we call them cookies. Rupert is such a cutie, enjoy every stage, it all goes by so fast.

"Rupert hates having anything on his fingers ever." I have never related to a toddler more in my life. Literally the worst part of baking is getting my hands sticky/dirty. I too have wash clothes on hand to wipe my fingers the moment anything gets on them.

Not me sitting here missing my kids being babies😭😭😭😭😭. My "babies" are a teenager and a pre teen. Cherish every moment❤ Time truly does move too quickly.
Don't forget to cherish your pre-teen and teenager too, before they are off to collage/living on their own. ;)

why do I see Ru as like so intelligent for his age like he seems to have so much more awareness and knowledge than other kids his age like honestly you are actually amazing mums. I think some of it might be because of the fact that he signs and speaks and I have seriously considered learning ASL so I can teach it to my kids when I am older. he catches on to your instructions so fast what a smart little man! keep up the amazing work I love your family so much
I'm trying to learn BSL/SSE so that when I have kids, it's a natural part of their language development and it'll hopefully come to them a lot easier than it's coming to me lol

And omg also how amazing is sign language that hes able to communicate and empathise with complex emotions while signing.. So many kids at that age only just starting a few words have no way to communicate about that til much much later on when their vocab picks up around 2!! How wonderfully empowering for him! Im still so shocked by the news that baby sign was an invented code not a part of the usual sign language skill set, so I really appreciate seeing you guys using full sign so effectively in the same way id used baby sign in the past.. I wish id known that earlier on in my life, but great to see it now

Small people recognise other small people
This brought back such memories of cooking/baking with my daughter when she was Rupert's age. I think I learned more than she...certainly about patience and releasing perfectionism. On the other hand, she grew up to be a fine baker, so she may have learned something, too. And the memories made are, of course, most valuable of all.

This reminds me SO much of my grandmother who recounted my uncle when he was a baby adding his toy soldiers to her electric mixer when they were baking together! She was a fantastic grandmother and you two are fantastic mothers involving Roo in everything!

This reminds me so much of my mom baking with my brother and me, absolute chaos and the whole kitchen needed cleaning from ceiling to floor but we all had a blast and it made for fun memories :3

I love your Baking Bad series, and this video is my favourite.
