@@rockydavis94 your comment is an excellent way to highlight one of the main points of the channel. She IS all those wonderful things, AND she is disabled. I know you meant well, Society has put such a stigma on disability and Jessica does such a good job of breaking down those barriers. Welcome to the community, I hope you stay, Jess's content never fails to bring a smile to my face and I know we could all use a little more of that.

I just got back from a trip from hell, because the people I went with thought my disabilities were "too much". My wheelchair was broken by the airline, the hotel didn't give us the accessible room that we booked, and on top of that I've now lost friends because I had an autistic meltdown at the end of the trip, and they didn't like how that presented. Traveling can be so hard when you're disabled! This was a lovely vlog, and a good reminder that not every trip will be like this one.
Edit: thank you all so much! I was really not expecting any replies, let alone this many, and you all have made me feel considerably less crazy and more human.

    🌻For anyone interested in childcare:🌻
Actually the bit about Rupert beeing happy to explore as long as you stay in his field of vision (but not necessarily get involved) is very normal and healthy! Children of his age have two main 'systems' in their minds if you will. One is for exploring the world around them, while the other is for making sure they're safe (Meaning: their parent is near + all their needs are met + parent soothes them if they get upset). The need for safety and connection will always trump the exploration system, meaning if they are feeling unsafe they will stop playing and exploring and instead start looking for their parent/crying to make sure that they are still safe. Play can only really be picked up again when safety is re-established.
They don't necessarily need you to help them explore, but they do need to know that you will be there for them if something happens. ♥️
Children whose need for security and connection are constantly dismissed/only irregularly fulfilled will have difficulty both in exploring their surroundings properly (because their security system won't shut off and let the exploration system work properly) as well as in managing their emotions (because children learn to handle their emotions by being soothed and cared for by their parent.). They might become really clingy, upset and hard to calm down OR outwardly calm but really anxious on the inside. In cases of trauma children might also react in very "chaotic" and unusual ways.
That being said I'm happy to see that Rupert trusts you guys so much and that he feels safe to explore the world.♥️🧡😊
(The source btw: My university lectures on childcare and development😅🤗)

Its so adorable to see rupert and jessica in chairs.. It must be so nice for a child to have their adult on the same level, so often at that age kids want to be picked up all the time to be at eye level, and its so nice when adults get down to their level, so its a convenient happy benefit I think ☺️
Im currently trying to pick up the courage to take a wheel chair assisted flight to see my nephew for the first time, its so great to see you do it, to give me courage and imagine it all being ok, after several good and several bad assisted experiences Im a bit nervous 💖

Ru running. Awwww. It reminds me so much of my niece when she was a toddler. She was a runner 😖 and I had a cheap backpack whose water bottle holder never held the water bottles. So I accidentally bought a $160 AUD ($90 US) backpack and it was a game changer! Well worth the money because I could confidently (or, you know, as confidently as humanly possible when you have ick knees and ankles) chase after her without jettisoning water bottles every which way.

It's my birthday on the same day! Happy birthday in advance! This video makes me miss summer so much. I'm already ready for Spring. Malaysia looks so pretty, too. And Rupert is getting lots of hair! He grows so quickly.

I don't know if it's clear enough to bother anyone but you get a shot of Rupert's reflection at 7:07 and another child's background face around 7:20.
