I didn't go in totally blind, but I might as well have. I watched the trailer before the movie and assumed it would be like a fucked up Home Alone, like they'd get trapped in the house by a serial killer or robbers and theyd torture them with whatever they had laying around, the twist that the *kids* were the main antagonists hit me like a paint can and I was officially invested.
Even then I thought it was still just gonna be a fun horror comedy that I wouldn't be able take too seriously, then Garrett's death had me literally screaming NO at my tv.
I went in expecting nothing but bloody parodies of home alone traps and left with emotional damage.
Hearing james call luke a "sloppy bitch" at 6:19 is the best thing I've ever heard 😭
When his friend died I felt like a sense of dread, he was whimpering, looking at his best friend with glassy eyes and calling for his mother-idk why that kill just deflated me so much.

I thought Ricky was literally just a kid trying to act cocky and like an adult and would do a 180 once someone actually got hurt/killed and was completely flabbergasted and rather disgusted to see him not react to murdering someone, and in fact even liked the death and did more of it. It was a huge twist that I feel like made everyone realize that this was an actual revolting perverted killer
Luke?
I love how this movie subverts your expectations. In any other horror movie, Luke might have ended up actually having to protect Ashley from *insert generic horror villain here* after his little fake home invasion was revealed. Instead though, Luke is *THE* horror villain, an entitled, smarmy, selfish little bastard of a villain and I not only love to hate him, but I love to root for Ashley to escape from him. This movie is totally an underrated gem more people should check out.
Luke's actor is so talented. He's so good at being an incredibly frustrating character.

You know on paper Luke lost but with real world affects, I doubt police would believe that a 12 year old boy killed this many in one night with no lethal injuries. Honestly it’s probably gonna go down in a “no one gets punished cause police are incompetent/ one guy gets punished way too late cause police are incompetent” sense
Yeah I found the ending pretty unsatisfying tbh. Like, sure, it heavily points to Luke not getting away with it, but I wanted to _watch_ him coming face-to-face with the consequences
The police will believe it once they hear the whole story.
I disagree. There is enough evidence that Luke couldn't cover up that even I can think of. Including time of death not matching, fingerprints missing where it should be, rope burns on the tree from pulling the body, prints on the roof in the snow matching an adolescent, evidence missing where it should be like where did the weed butt go? They would find it heavily concentrated. The likelihood a child could sleep through all that and would he have been in bed during times of death. The more I think about it the easier it falls apart.
@@Alphasnowbordergirl this exactly. anyone who thought about it long enough would realise how quickly it would fall apart, because the plan was made by a 12yo boy who thinks he's a genius who knows everything
i would assume it's based loosely on the real life 15-year-old who killed his whole family. the interview footage is on youtube, reminds me a lot of this
Ashley definitely has my respect for not going with Luke's advances, she didn't deserve what happened to her. Luke's definitely insane

He made a pun their talking about stranger things
Despite what the ending implies in the credits "I'm worried about her, can we go an check on her at the hospital?" YALL REALIZE the parents called the cops lol. The whole family has to stay there and be questioned. There's literally no "Oh excuse us officers, we're going to be leaving to follow the ambulance". Even the kid who they will claim was asleep has to stay. With the body count there's going to be INTENSE questioning for everyone about everyone elses's relationship with the victims.
Since she's still pretty lucid, she'll have more enough opportunity to tell them who actually did it before they put her in operation.
So despite what some are thinking, 100% this kid is getting caught.

“You better watch out, you better watch out, you better watch out, you better watch out, you better-“
This movie is reverse roles of “The Babysitter”
well yes but no cause the babysitter was at least sorta likable cause of their awesome hanging out montage and turned out to be psycho and with a different name for the movie probably coulda been a surprise killer.
the kid in this is never likable at all he's just a horrible little shit all the way through with his "nice guy" routine while being a gross little weirdo trying to watch a horror movie with her to get in her pants, get her drunk, and force a kiss on her complete with nasty creepy molestation later.
if all that woulda happened in the babysitter she woulda been a creep, a murderer, and a pedo on top.
so yes the premise of babysitter killing kid and kid killing babysitter are indeed the exact reverse plot but the killers in them are characterized completely differently with the age difference lending way to an even larger divide.
on top of that ones a cringe worthy horror comedy full of tropes while the other is actually well written, directed, and acted with a power ranger/ stranger things kid in it to boot.
theninjamaster67 I think he means that the babysitter and that kid switched roles as a survivor and a killer
@@theninjamaster67 Couldn't have said it better myself! That's why I really didn't like this movie and LOVED The Babysitter. I might have enjoyed this a little more if it wasn't so misleading from the trailers because I expected it to be a Christmas version of You're Next / Home Alone where the traps were realistic and there were a group of criminals breaking into Luke's house

I felt really bad for everyone in this movie that died. Ricky for the fact that he was a nice dude and the fact that he pissed his pants before he died almost made me cry. Jeremey because he was pretty rad and honestly just nothing was wrong with him at all. Garrett because he was Luke's best friend and he got shot twice. Poor Garrett.
Nah fuck Garrett. Dude had legit, no problems with his friend on a rampage. It literally took some kind things towards him to rethink stuff. Dude should’ve called the cops on his friend ages ago.
@@johnselig8598 But have you ever seen your friend go on a rampage? No? Then you don't understand what Garrett was going through. He was terrified when Luke started going crazy, and he didn't call the cops because 1) Luke is his best friend and I'm sure he was internally defending Luke in his mind, because he struggles to think someone he loves and cares about is in the wrong (That's how psychology works) and 2) was scared of what Luke would do to him if he called the cops. Self preservation is strong, call it fucked up, but that's just how the mind works and how humans work. Also, he did show sympathy and regret for what happened throughout the entire movie.

instead luke dies
Maximos Dellis what she kills him?
no the sequel could be ashley’s new life but luke kills her friends
Maximos Dellis that could work
Likely won't happen in the slightest. I take that his "desire to see Ashley at the hospital" is his last attempt to get away with murder. Her survival destroyed all of his plans.
Garrett, Ashley's boyfriend, and Ashley's ex-boyfrriend are all corpses in his house. Everything he could've gotten away with; now unraveled because she survived. She is capable of telling everything she witnessed. It'll cause an in-depth investigation which will end in Jake's conviction because of his efforts to clean up matters.
I don't believe a sequel is needed, nor would it make this movie better. The whole story is that "You're not as smart as you think." Jake constantly fooled everyone in his life. Elaborately lying to everyone so he could get his way. He thought he researched the perfect murder plan and thought he'd get through it all. But multiple things occurred that caused diversions in his plans.
- Ashley refused to drink and fought back every time she could.
- Garrett's attempt to free Ashley ended in Jake murdering him, adding an unexpected body to the count.
- Ashley's Boyfriend pissing himself thus getting Jake to clean up after him.
- Ashley's survival trhrough her cunning and quick thinking.
This is truly terrifying. I think the fact that this kid had a relatively normal life, and still is such a psycho, is just terrifying.
The final act was a roller coaster of "no, he *can't* get away with it" to "fuck this movie, he got away with it" to "his cover's blown! Great movie!"

It wasn't some Christmas nightmare, as the cat from the start would lead you to believe when you see it later again in the movie? Douche-nozzle boyfriend actually being kind of alright, just before he dies? The goddamn best friend dying?
Man, this one hit me hard. I'm glad she lived, but damn this was depressing.
Garrett’ last words being “I want my mom” is SO heartbreaking! Like, I honestly liked his character. Yeah, some of his actions were a bit selfish, but at the end of the day, he was just a kid, and he had a sort of redemption arc towards the end, which made his death even sadder :(
Get down Mr.President
Get down Mr. *E*
MRS.OBAMA GET DOWN
Im dead😂😂😂😂
Donald Duck
armida leyva I hope nobody interprets this as a Jojo reference.
Levi Miller is such an amazing actor, the fact that you really wanted to punch a character from frustration.
IKR
Reminds me of Doloria Umbridge's actress getting that condescending "hem hem" that made us all want to strange her.
I think a bigger plot twist if luke forgot about the security cameras and have the parents check them at the end after the ambulance scene.
There is no way he would have forgotten about that tho, that’s like the most obvious thing.
@@alexvancini2155 no im talking about how he planned everything out down to the littlest of problems would’ve been a shock if he had forgotten the most obvious thing.
This is one of the first videos I have saw on your channel I’ve been trying to look for it for years!
I really wished there was an extra scene with us seeing him actually getting caught. Like this ending is great and I love it but seeing actually get arrested and have to live the consequences would have been the best.
I agree, it would be more satisfying seeing him face the consequences.
Legit as soon as I read in the comments that he doesnt die by the end of the movie I stopped watching lol
AHHHHHHHHHHH ITS A BLUE BIRD
@@miloandkevinreview you know it is. eat your cereal
@@sandiegovanilla8625 Ok
This director fully embracing what child actors are capable of. Super impressed
Aw man!
I really wanted to see that little demon get what he SO VERY MUCH DESERVES!
Anyone out there in the world of TH-cam, please make an extended version of the end where he pays the ULTIMATE price for what he has done!
“Close the door Ashley”
“And GET DOWN MR PRESIDENT”
“But he’s not gonna shoot his bestfriend”
...Right after he just shot his best friend.
Before*
@@polishspy3088 After*
He shot him twice.
I feel so bad for Garrett
There is actually an end credits scene where Luke says he wants to visit Ashley in the hospital. I smell a Halloween 2 type sequel! Hospital style
or the scream 4 type
I agree too
@@madib1163 Huh?
I don’t think they will make a sequel since it was made in 2016 and anyway they can’t shoot it this year because of the virus which probably means the kids will be too old and I think it’s better with a mystery at the end for what’s gonna happen
@@mintimilk2368 yeah....ur right about the age thing....but I honestly really wanna see what will happen
This is the only one I actually watched after the kill count-one of my favorite movies now. It’s just SO good
the name of this movie always reminds of that one vine
*”ya better watch out ya better watch out YA BETTER WATCH OUT YA BETTER WATCH OUT YOU BETTER WATCH-“*
I love the fact that he skipped the last part when Luke saying to his mom that he wanted to go to the hospital to see Ashley is doing fine.
@Kamareon Davis really, or did I missed something ?
I mean yeah cuz it means nothing. They aren't leaving that house because THEY HAVE TO stay for questioning and she'll just tell the cops at the hospital he did it before they put her in Op. Plus if Luke claims he was 100% asleep then he will need no medical attention, so he doesn't need to be sent to the hospital. Luke, and his parents are going to be grilled on Luke's friend (ESPECIALLY LUKE since his friend is dead) her boyfriend, and ex. Because honestly if I was questioning them I would be suspicious as hell why Luke's friend was even around if he was asleep? Like yeah he's dead but that doesn't explain why some 11 year old is there at his friends place as his ass is passed out from pills with 3 literal 18+ year olds. Luke really fucked this up by killing his friend because its the one thing that is the outlier in this "3 way 18+_ year old murder"
I like how Garrett is literally killing his teammates in The Forest, in which the objective is to help your teammates survive.
He probs joined a random person's public session
He killed one of the AI enemies that annoy you when you play
@@elekfarkas9635 going to fast, couldnt tell what he was killing, just know he was killing
@@jupiterx9669 Boi, I played that game, and can recognize that crouched stance anywhere
@@elekfarkas9635 chill, I've played it too. I wasnt paying enough attention cuz my life ain't revolving around a kid playing a game in a movie
I like how this movie cast’s patrick who narrated a series of unfortunate events .
19:14 in the movie; when he was talking about his mother use to rock him to sleep, then she started to cry and say she knew how it felt, then there was a heartbeat. Wonder what that ties into.
I like how much you can tell that James has a problem with this kid.
Doesnt everyone

I love the stranger things refrence right before Jeremy's kill because the actor who plays him also plays Billy.
“Stranger things going on here” I love that you said this considering he was in stranger things
The saddest thing in this film... “I want my mum”
Dude fr like that lowkey ruined it for me
i cant get over how much garret is so not trying to get killed but he gets killed happy luke prob sentenced to death
I honestly feel bad for garret
I kinda cried a little when he said that
That actually got me a bit.
Something I’ve noticed. At 2:37, the game they’re playing is “The Forest”. A survival game where your stuck on an island fighting for your life. Minus the plot of the game, I think that it’s a perfect fit for this movie
It's really cool to see an indie game getting shown in a movie. Movies usually only show mainstream AAA games like Call of Duty.
Knew it looked familiar.
I knew it but wait isn’t that game only for VR
Zeraki & Zero Markiyomo no, it can be played regularly. Me and ‘da boys’ completed it on PS4
Oh ok I didn’t know
I actually watched this with my dad, this is one of my favorite Christmas movies mainly for the "cover it up" aspect
