Had the same issue on pretty much the same mower did everything you did but added some red grease to the shaft so prevent future issues, hopefully.
Bro, thank you so much for this video. I bought like 3 diff replacement wheels before I realized that bushing comes off and that's why none of them fit. Smh ya video was the key.

My exact mower, exact wheel and exact problem. I used common sense to get myself to 7:35. I did not realize the bushing came off and didn't want to disassemble the left side of my mower to check to see. Thank you.

As for the mowers around here, I have become quite the mower fairy in my area and people are happy to have some weird guy always take away their junk equipment from the gutter. At least that’s what I tell myself.

@JohnDoe-gi1vr spoke to a manager at Lowe's. Apparently, they do carry replacement parts, I'm just waiting for his phone call.

that exact story was mine i grabbed from the side of the rode checked the oil saw it had somthing kinda grey stuff but it was high enough checked the gas checked the air filter cokroach flew out replaced the air filter with one I had lyin around 2nd pull fired up seized front wheels ended up soaking um in wd40 and hit em with a heat gun then just twisted it with chanel locks thre a few bolts on it changed the oil and it was redy to go

What is the tool you used to clean the rust off?
It is a brass wire wheel drill attachment. I bought it on Amazon. They aren’t very much but I suggest always going with brass to not scratch up the metal.
The wheel pops right off with a long screwdriver or a prybar, no need to prop. Still good info overall

Sooo I cracked the thing we were getting off with the vice grip. Anyone know where I can get another?
I don’t have the mower anymore so I can’t find the part exactly. But I believe you can get pvc from the hardware store very close to the bushing size that will do the same job and not rust. Again I don’t have the mower anymore but when I run into it again this season I will find the right size to fix the broken bushing problem.

Why not add a little red n tacky grease to the inside of the wheel bearing to keep from rusting up again?
Exactly,, Years ago had the same issue , repair guy told me that keeping the wheel shaft greased on a regular basis is part of the maintenance routine to keep mower running correctly.
Yes parts will eventually go bad especially plastic parts but regular maintenance will prolong their life span…

Yep that should work just fine. As long as the rust build up is removed a little then you are good.
couldn't you just close the fuel line off then run it dry ????
Umm, ain’t ya gonna mess up those splines with the jaws of that vice grip?
The splines are just there to dig into the plastic so a little extra damage wont matter on the outside as long as it fits inside the wheel and doesn't crack
