I know this is an old video for you, but I wanted to tell you how thankful I am. I am a single mother, with very limited money, and I was able to fix my lawnmower myself because of your video. Thank you, sir.
Thank you so much. ❤❤ So much! my dad passed away couple years ago. left me the house, all of the tools, lane equipment etc. And the lawnmower stopped propelling… 😫Because of this video I was able to save me some money and repair it myself. Thank you so so so so so much. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the video! Nothing in the manual about this troubleshooting, so you turned this discovery project into a ridiculously easy task for the rest of us!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Using the information on this video, I successfully replaced the drive cable on my TB200. I am not very comfortable doing repairs like this, but it worked like a champ. Keep them coming.
I watch TH-cam vids as a doublecheck to make sure I know what I'm doing. I like yours for tips that make it easier. Ex: "always flip the mower to the exhaust side", "when you hit something hard in the yard it'll throw the belt everytime". Priceless knowledge for future troubleshooting. Keep it up man!!
This was so helpful for me to fix my lawn mower! When I went to add this comment, I was shocked to see that I had left one 4 years ago! ""Thank you, great video, turns out that the housing I have has two more bolts to unscrew, but we figured it out, and was able to fix it!" That was when my BIL came over to fix it and now it is clear to me why the upper plastic housing that HAD 2 bolts in it and now has only one and is ripped, lol!!!" Apparently I should have just watched the video back then and fixed it myself!! Thanks again! Probably will be back in 4 years.
Me & My dad just fixed this exact problem with my mower. Self Propel hasn't worked since 2 summers ago. I ran across this video and boom....everything works again! Thanks man! Got my Thumbs Up.
Thank you ! great disassembly video. Turned out that my TB 200 hadn't thrown a belt, there was no problem with the belt, build up accumulated crud, was keeping the belt from engaging. Once I gave her a good cleaning, and re-assembled There was an initial delay of maybe 2-5 seconds and I was again running to keep up. If it weren't for your video, I would have been in deep trouble with a simple project. I wasn't sure which screws to remove, and had picked all of the wrong ones.
Thanks Raleigh for the video, I too was about to give away 💰 to a shop for nothing. A simple diy fix, you nailed it. Hope you get those extra hands soon.
Great help - thanks for this. Please note that on my model, there were 2 bolts near the blades. I also noticed 2 others were missing, so I replaced them...
I have the exact same one. Was under it today bc it just stopped moving. Didn't have much time so I'll be back at it tomorrow but only got the two top ones off. This is a great video exactly what I was looking for. Thank you 🙏
Thank You for your video! My self propel stopped working last fall. I figured I could just do without. NOT! I followed your instructions and was able to fix my mower. I am so happy! Oh and BTW, I'm a 64 year old woman. Girls Rule!
Much appreciated, I've had this mower (or close to same model) for 9 years and today was first time with this, there were a few more bolts, but figured it out
First off, thanks for the video! My Troybuilt that looks just like yours had additional 3/8" screws. On the bottom where you had 2 and 2 on the edges, I had 1 more in the center. I also had 2 screws holding the back tang of the shroud, those were also located on the underside, but closer to the motor. I was wondering why my shroud wouldn't pull off and then I found the other 3 screws by looking where the resistance was coming from. Anywho, it worked, by my belt is so stretched out it's time to replace it. Off to search TH-cam for blade removal video :)
Thanks for the video. I have a yard machine brand and could not figure out how to take the cover off. The yard machine had a total of 7 screws, but looks very similar to the troybilt . Got it off and fixed it.
Thank you for sharing this. My Craftsman is nearly identical to this, but had three screws of a different head size along the front. Go figure. Anyway - your video saved me a lot of time and trouble and I'm back up and running. Thanks again!
Thanks for the vid. Try using various sized tripods. But I get the sneaking suspicions that you don't have the patience for that. Again, thanks for the vid. At least I know where all the bolts are for removal.
Thanks a lot sir,for the removal of belt guard.. hell,I had the wheels off and including the sprockets behind the wheels till I said..just look it up on you tube.. Thanks alot...😂😂😂😂😂😂
I replaced my cable and the lever is not tight that I fed th cable through. What did I miss? The level is just like a bike brake handle on the right side with a turtle mode and rabbit mode. Also my front guard has 2 clips that go around the bar and latch through a square opening on each side. They are difficult to get back on. In fact, one side popped off just as I got everything back together. Any suggestions? Tricks? I haven't watched a video yet where these were on the mower.
Good vid, but it would have been nice to know about that bolt near the blade. Was able to reseat the belt in the small amount of space I had to deal with without removing the cover.
I have that same mower with the same problem. Front wheels were locked up and front wheel drive was not engaging. Took off the cover 7 screws holding it on and the belt seemed OK but the wheel on that little housing was spinning freely with no resistance. Would it be fair to say I need to replace the housing. I finally got the wheels to unlock by pushing the mower backwards so now I can use it as a push mower.
Great video, this is my exact mower. But I did a girl thing and completely turned the mower upside down when I got baling twine wrapped around the blade. My husband would know better, but he recently passed away. Any suggestions on how to get it started again.
Help, no drive forward once leveler engaged. Belt did not jump out of pulley. Two front wheels inner teeth (gears), metal gears & pins& retainer clips are good & cable tightened. What could the problem be on my Troy-Bilt?
Although posting this video is appreciated, you failed to mention 3 other bolts. Although it’s possible I have a different model, the cover looks identical. There are two under the blade and one in the front center. Following your instructions I removed what you noted and couldn’t remove it assuming there were some simple snap attachment tabs that wouldn’t release. After a great deal of frustration and time until I finally removed those other bolts to get it off.
I have a question, do you think that I could turn my non self propelled lawn mower into self propelled? I figured I could just put a belt on the crankshaft and gear it to the front wheels and connect a throttle to it
U might try adding a transmission. I'd find the model that has the feature and locate the parts diagram. I'd then try to find a used transmission, as new tend to be cost prohibitive.
I know this is an old video for you, but I wanted to tell you how thankful I am. I am a single mother, with very limited money, and I was able to fix my lawnmower myself because of your video. Thank you, sir.
Np I’m glad it helped you
Always cool when you here that brother 😊 great job 👏
6 years later - I appreciate you, bro.
No problem my friend
Thank you so much. ❤❤ So much! my dad passed away couple years ago. left me the house, all of the tools, lane equipment etc. And the lawnmower stopped propelling… 😫Because of this video I was able to save me some money and repair it myself. Thank you so so so so so much. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That’s great news

Thanks for sharing. I repaired my lawn mower in about 20 minutes... Everything was just like you said. It made the repair super easy!!!!
Thank you........I have to do a lot on my own and I a huge appreciation for youtubers like you
Thank you
Me & My dad just fixed this exact problem with my mower. Self Propel hasn't worked since 2 summers ago. I ran across this video and boom....everything works again! Thanks man! Got my Thumbs Up.
My belt came off above the blade which is just 2 bolts behind the blade. Thanks for the info for taking the front cover off.
thank you so much this is 10x better than anything troybilt has to offer
Thanks so much! I was afraid to start it but your video made it easy. Appreciation to you for filming this one.
Thanks for posting this video, this is exactly what happened to my mower. Twenty minutes later, problem solved!
Thank you for this video. I felt such a sense of accomplishment being able to fix my mower myself using your help.
Thank you for this! My husband is sick with cancer and I was able to fix my mower without troubling him. ❤
Awesome, I’m glad you were able to fix it
Thank you for making your video easy to understand. With your help, I fixed my mower without asking my husband 😁
I’m an R word so most of my videos are simple

Thanks Raleigh for the video, I too was about to give away 💰 to a shop for nothing. A simple diy fix, you nailed it. Hope you get those extra hands soon.
Thank you for the video! I was about to send my mower into the shop until I found your video! You saved me easily $100
Awesome I’m glad it helped
This video helped fix my issue. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
Just ran into this problem with my newish self-propelled Troy Built mower. This was very helpful.
Thanks for the knowledge my friend, my mower just stopped going forward, I’ll try and fix it tomorrow, GOD bless!
Thank you!!
I have a different model, but you showed me enough to get the job done.
You are welcome!
Great help - thanks for this. Please note that on my model, there were 2 bolts near the blades. I also noticed 2 others were missing, so I replaced them...

I have a slightly different model but I was about to take off more bolts than I needed to. Thanks for the info.
You may be 'one man'...but...you're 'the man'! Thanks.
Thanks
Your video worked very well for me and I was able to fix my mower!!! Thanks for posting it!!! GOOD STUFF!!!!
Thank you for the video! I had the same issue with my TB240 model. You saved me so much time and money. Thanks!
Great video. Not the exact mower but helped me to figure out what bolts needed to come out. And...it was the belt that came off.
Thank You for your video! My self propel stopped working last fall. I figured I could just do without. NOT! I followed your instructions and was able to fix my mower. I am so happy! Oh and BTW, I'm a 64 year old woman. Girls Rule!
I'm almost 50 and was able to fix mine too! Yay girl power!
Thanks!!! I did it "all by myself" with multiple re-viewings of this video. lol
Much appreciated, I've had this mower (or close to same model) for 9 years and today was first time with this, there were a few more bolts, but figured it out

Thank you, great video, turns out that the housing I have has two more bolts to unscrew, but we figured it out, and was able to fix it!
Got it fixed! Thanks a million!
Thanks so much! Had my mower running - and self-propelling again! - in under 10 minutes!
Thanks for the video. I have a yard machine brand and could not figure out how to take the cover off. The yard machine had a total of 7 screws, but looks very similar to the troybilt . Got it off and fixed it.
Good help, friend... My mower had 7 screws under, 2 over the deck. Probably a different year/model.
Just saved us a TON of money. Thanks!!!!
Thanks for the video, just repaired a TB240 based off your instructions.
Thank you for sharing this. My Craftsman is nearly identical to this, but had three screws of a different head size along the front. Go figure. Anyway - your video saved me a lot of time and trouble and I'm back up and running. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this. By far the easiest that's been demonstration that I've found. Question though. What about coming off on the inside?
Thanks, man. Very helpful 😊
Glad it helped!
Raleigh,
Thanks dude, this was exactly right....
Thanks man! Saved me a bunch of time and money.
Just fixed my mower. Thank you ;)
Glad to hear it is working
Good lesson thanks
Thanks for the video- I'll chalk my issue to bad design and hitting a tree route, but I'm up and running Thank you again.
Well done and very helpful!
Thanks buddy u fixed my mower I was just the hands
Thank you so much for this video!
No problem
Thanks your video was exactly what I needed, especially the comment about "all 3/8"
Thanks for the bolt placement information✌
Thanks for the vid. Try using various sized tripods. But I get the sneaking suspicions that you don't have the patience for that. Again, thanks for the vid. At least I know where all the bolts are for removal.
I have 3 tripods now, man have I changed over time
Thank you for saving me some money. Awsome video!
Someone threw one of the lawnmowers in the trash. I took it home and drained the tank, fuel bowl, and cleaned carb. Mower started right up.
Thanks a lot sir,for the removal of belt guard.. hell,I had the wheels off and including the sprockets behind the wheels till I said..just look it up on you tube..
Thanks alot...😂😂😂😂😂😂
I know you don’t walk around in that southern grass , bare-footed? 😂 nice vid from Indiana.
Thanks Raleigh it worked for me

Thank you 🙏 Perfect video brother.
This video is amazing and really helped me
Very Helpful video appreciate very much. Have the same mower and I was about to take out all those other screws
Thank you for doing this tutorial. It helped me out tremendously.
Thanks for the video, helped me fix it.
It would be nice to have a way to adjust tension on the belt. Good video.
Subscribed & liked. You can flip it over the other way when it is empty of gas and your draining the oil 😁
Thank you very much, this video help me to fix my mower
Just subscribed, I like how you emphasize about removing the spark plug boot. So many TH-camrs don't do that.
I appreciate your comment
How to fix handle on self propelled mower
Thank you sir👍🏻
Thank you so much!!!!!
Hey thanks for the video! You taught my more than my dad ever did! 😂😂
I would recommend hand tools to tighten the screws, ya don't want to strip them out just camping the impact driver on them
Heavy impact them until the plastic makes a popping sound is my rule
Thank you
Thank you 🙏. I learned a lot from you.
Where can I get that plastic cover you pulled off? The plastic piece where you screw into broke off.
Thank you! This worked perfectly
Glad it helped you
Thank you!
Np
Good vid, but it would have been nice to know about that bolt near the blade. Was able to reseat the belt in the small amount of space I had to deal with without removing the cover.
I have that same mower with the same problem. Front wheels were locked up and front wheel drive was not engaging. Took off the cover 7 screws holding it on and the belt seemed OK but the wheel on that little housing was spinning freely with no resistance. Would it be fair to say I need to replace the housing. I finally got the wheels to unlock by pushing the mower backwards so now I can use it as a push mower.
is there a way to put more tension in the lever ?
Got a similar mower.on mine the belt is in place but it won't go forward, does the cable need adjustments? If so how would i do that?
That’s exactly what was wrong with mine. Thanks for the vid.
Great video, this is my exact mower. But I did a girl thing and completely turned the mower upside down when I got baling twine wrapped around the blade. My husband would know better, but he recently passed away. Any suggestions on how to get it started again.
Now is this the reason why my self propel lawnmower doesn’t propel on its own. It runs just doesn’t propel on its own.😅
Most likely
@@BayouRepairGuy thx it sure was the problem, runs great now. You’re the best💯🤟🏼
Help, no drive forward once leveler engaged.
Belt did not jump out of pulley.
Two front wheels inner teeth (gears), metal gears & pins& retainer clips are good & cable tightened.
What could the problem be on my Troy-Bilt?
What if you take off the cover and the band is still connected any ideas what it might be
These mowers are annoying. Thanks for the video.
Who’s your cameraman? Ray Charles? Great content though!!
I know I was on my first repair videos, I have a tripod and all kinds of equipment now
the ryobi speeds the process but have to watch the torque your exhibiting going into the plastic. Can strip them real easy
Great video, thanks man. Appreciate the info!! 💪👊👍
Thank you! Needed this!
Thanks!
Tmsonthr fix of self propelled was just to put the belt back on?
Although posting this video is appreciated, you failed to mention 3 other bolts. Although it’s possible I have a different model, the cover looks identical. Following your instructions I removed what you noted and couldn’t remove it assuming there were some simple snap attachment tabs that wouldn’t release. After a great deal of frustration and time until I finally removed those other bolts to get it off.
Missed 3 bolts on the undercarriage & most of the time the belt is fine.
And not bein mean, I was frustrated that mine wasn't working, so I apologize! Mine was literally just a dirty spark plug.
Np my friend
@Jones Vlogging Network filter was good, check valve good, blades clean, fuel/oil good. Sometimes, it's the most obvious part to check. My fault.
Yea u forgot the two screws under the deck . But good vid thx
I have a question, do you think that I could turn my non self propelled lawn mower into self propelled? I figured I could just put a belt on the crankshaft and gear it to the front wheels and connect a throttle to it
I have no idea
