Nice video. Could we also get a video show how some components are bigger or better than the competitors trucks in the class? Like how we have seen that the transfer case drive chain was larger than someone’s else.
Thank you for taking the time to make Tundra videos! 👍🏼

I wish Toyota would make a "Work Truck" trim with a front bench seat, vinyl seats and vinyl floors. Also, optional front brush guard with a built-on front receiver hitch. You wouldn't believe how handy having a hitch on the front of a truck can be.

I wish Toyota would build a base model, crewmax, 4x4, 6.5' bed, heated steering wheel and tow mirrors, leather interior, reverse camera and a vinyl interior floor. That would be the ultimate work/outdoorsman truck!!!

Looking at a Tundra now and hopefully you have solved the rusting issues. GM does not make a truck to last more than a couple years.

Disappointed with how much I like this truck. I was going to buy a Toyota as my next car. I was set on getting the Tacoma or the tundra and have been talking up Toyota so much. Very impressed with their trucks and they looks great. And I can appreciate them as an engineer. But the key fob subscription they’re requiring for models 2018-present is not only silly but has put a bad taste in my mouth about the company.
As a computer engineering I can understand software level features being behind a paywall if they actually take significant time and money to develop or require server and other service maintenance. But when you can revoke remote start from your customers and it’s a feature as simple as a bit flip or a line or two of code, it’s a little silly. It’s not because I couldn’t afford the subscription. It’s just has shown to me Toyota’s focus is not on the customer. Toyota probably lost some business from some people looking for a V8 truck. That didn’t scare me off. But I think they’ve lost me on this subscription. I’m happy this has happened before I bought my next car. I would have been so angry to get a new truck and find out I’ll have to pay monthly to use a feature I already had. And maybe Toyota will change their mind and make it up to their customers and my next car after this one might be a Toyota. But we will see.

Toyota can you build your own sports car, not giving your heritage away for profit. Every company can make their own sport car. Subaru has the WRX and STI, you didnt have to give them another sport car to compete with the GR86. You need to build your own sports car facility and start building your own sport cars. Supra should have been built already with your engineering. If I wanted a subaru or BMW, I would have gone there. Start innovating.

  • @xspower21

Here is why I feel this truck is an absolute let down in almost every category. And remember Toyota only does a major overhaul every 15yrs. Which is why by 2012-2013 the last Gen Trundra was becoming dated compared to other Trucks, so technically it's been outdated for the last 8yrs. When you objectively look at what this truck actually offers, it barely competes with 2020 models from the big 3. First, turning radius just became worst in class so this truck is harder to navigate than the 2nd Gen. The interior dimension shrunk for less space and front and rear head room went down so that it's now worst in class Yeah that makes tons of sense. Head room is down to around 39.6 inches which is why the truck is more cramped, and the bed is narrower and not, so we get less usability out of the bed from previous generations. So the truck overall is bigger, but usable space shrunk. 4 massive steps backwards. Zero tow/recovery hooks? They literally have an off road package and countless people work on farms and or places where the terrain can be a problem. So it's not a question of if you get stuck, but when you get stuck. So clearly Toyota doesn't want you to use your truck or knows it won't function well in those environments ( which makes sense since it is worst in class now for work usability) Why is the payload so poor, the highest rating is around 1940lbs, and most trims it's closer to 1500, hell the Ford Ranger payload is 1904lb, and I get they went coilovers, but those have been around for decades, am I too believe they couldn't get better #'s, and this is a prime example of Toyota just getting current with 2020 models, nothing special or great here. Then there is the new V6, why is the gas mileage no better than the current V8s from Ford and Ram, the difference is nominal, so they screwed us there and gave us an over complicated motor with no real return. Why does the most capable off road version loose all of its storage space in the cab to the batteries? When you're camping/off roading storage is a premium. Here was a prime opportunity for Toyota to be innovative in multiple ways. First, they could have found a new place for the batteries, say under the truck/bed like Rivian, maybe between the cab and bed?? Or get creative and design morage storage like RAM did with their power boxes built into the bed,or how about offering the basic V6 as a motor option? And they used old battery technology. Either way, zero innovation or creative was put into that area., so that's an utter failure on Toyota's part. How about the tail gate being harder for egress/ingress then my 2011 model, and don't give me the bullshit Mike Sweers answer of " We didn't want to add complexity ". That's an utter lie, they added twin turbos to a motor and had to design extra cooling for it, that's the definition of complexity. Just another complete failure on Toyota's part. The last Gen has always had dim lighting in the truck, well guess what, it's still dark as hell inside the cab, apparently this was to tough for the engineers to fix. Why after all these years does that back seat still have the tunnel hump. Many people flip the seats up to store/haul/move more items around, and many of us have our dogs back there. It's a simple fix, but still too tough for Toyota to figure out I guess. The all new navigation is a train wreck and does not function well at all, even Toyota has semi had to admit it. Every one offers auto start, but Toyota wants a yearly subscription or they deactivate it, seriously? Why not just come out and say " We want to start ripping our customer bases off where ever possible. Why is the crawl control and 4wheel drive engagement right where we all spill our food and drinks, they had a ton of dash real-estate to put it somewhere that made more sense, but nope, screw common sense I guess. Or how about the seats not being comfortable, it's hard and doesn't sit well beacuse the bottom cushion is not long enough, it might be fine for smaller men possibly but not for the average guy. We know the seats we never awesome in the last gen but they decent, not sure how Toyota managed to go backwards in so many areas. Now I only drove the limited but the interior felt low quality and cheap, like I was in an economy car . Vents were loose, seats had stitching issues, the center console slide was flimsy and loose. Everything just felt like it was going to fall apart in the first 3yrs or so ( maybe it was just a lemon ) but it was bad enough I went to another lot and it seemed about the same ( both were in limited trims ). And what's with that cheap pattern on the seats? Feels like your getting into a 1985 Yugo. Why on the TRD PRO are we forced into those cheap plastic fender guards, then on top on top of that, they used some cheesy camo print, I'm not a 25yr kid, at least give me options on a 70k plus truck to look like an adult. And that plastic always fades real quick and inturn makes the truck look crappy, the cheap camo print just exacerbates that issue, and hell I don't want those cheesy cheap camo prints seat, WTF? How come the wireless phone charger can't keep the phone charged when the navigation is running, great job there by Toyota, they gave us a pointless charger. The bed has a 400watt plug?!? That will barely power some basic tools, but if you buy a Sienna mini van it's comes with a 1500 watt capable plug, are you freaking kidding me? The mini van has a better inverter that their premiere work truck, that's just asinine. I understand looks are an opinion, but Holy Tosh.0 it's obnoxiously ugly, the grill is so large the plastic looks like that cheap plastic used to hold your socket set you buy from home depot. And why so much chrome. That has not been popular for well over a decade, is the Toytota team that out of date?? The truck looks almost identical to a gmc from the middle of the front door and back, apparently taking time to design their own truck was too much, it was easier to rip off the work GMC put in. In person the truck feels weak and feeble. And car and drive just tested the Ford Hybrid over the new Iforce hybrid, take a guess which won? Hint, it wasn't Toyota. The difference was nominal, but think about that, they had 15yrs for a redesign and it's literally middle to worst in category in almost every place. And their All New Impressive Iforce cant outpace last yrs competition. Seriously?!?! There are a few other things like visibility out the front window due the rake which makes it worse then the last Gen, so another one of the many steps backwards, and I could keep going but I'm sure you get the point. As a die hard Tundra guy who was going to buy new TRD PRO in 2019, I waited for the complete overhaul. It's sadly disappointing that we can't point to anything that outshines what's offered on 2020 models from the other manufacturers. Toyota literally just got current and barely does that. Essentially this truck is brand new but outdated already. Toyota should be completely embarrassed by this truck.
