A great voice and a distinctive talent. When you heard her, you knew it was her voice. One of the best God gave us. A devastating ending to an exceptional talent! God rest her soul.
She did a song called "I Refuse to Be Lonely". Loneliness and relationship difficulties were a common theme in her songs. They are in Adele's songs as well, but with Adele I always got the feeling she was mostly just singing the words being expressed (very well, of course, but essentially acting/performing). With Phyllis I got the feeling she was living the lyrics. Makes one wonder if she should've given an older man a shot as it seems like the young ones were just playing around with her heart.

I wish TV One had been able to use more live footage for Unsung. These moments capture the essence of who Phyllis Hyman was as a human being. Smart, funny, introspective and of course battling mental illness. The bio on her Strength of a Women is great but there were a lot of hatters in there too. PH, a bright star, a genius an Angel.
I haven't seen anyone with her style. Nowadays too many women think that skin exposure is sexy and classy but they need to look at pictures and videos of Phyllis...
There aren't many words to describe Phyllis. She was so unique and beyond talented. There will never be another. EVER. You wouldn't know the turmoil she was going through in this interview.
Magnetic and gifted performer that I never heard of. Thank you You Tube. Amazing how many really good performers that never got top billing/fame. People who just listen to the popular music radio, etc are really missing out.
Makes me so sad to know that such a beautiful, funny, talented, gifted human being left us way too soon. Phyllis, I’m so sorry this life was too much of a hassle for you to deal with. Often times I feel that way myself Where it Seems like it would be easier to just check out and leave this shit all behin, but I know that no matter what we’ve gone through or are going through, it will all pass in due time. Though your corporeal essence has been gone over 20 years now, Thank sophisticated lady for giving us and leaving us with your beautiful voice for an eternity. You’ll never be forgotten.

She desired true love...she deserved to be loved right. Now she's in the greatest of all Arms....Yahs!!
She was Special......
She was one of the Greatest singers in the world missing u 💓
I had such a crush on this woman and she passed away.... wish I would have met her, I Love this woman... what an incredible artist
She could wear the heck out those crowns as only a woman of color can!
I haven't seen anyone with her style. Nowadays too many women think that skin exposure is sexy and classy but they need to look at pictures and videos of Phyllis...
A breathtakingly beautiful woman and funny a beautiful combination. So sad
She is beautiful!
you just never know what's going on with some people until it'd too late; may she rest in peace and she was wonderful
Nice. Rest in Paradise Phyllis. 🌈☀️🌄👍🎬📺🎥
Amazing soul ❤ I wish we knew more of her in mainstream media. She was a queen.
A funny breathtaking beautiful lady with a beautiful voice
But beauty, talent and riches will never earn, secure or guarantee happiness. I'm am sure she knew she was beautiful and talented as she was one of the most confident and capable artists we have klnown. She was simply not happy.
I loved and love her music...to this day she is track 2....RIP MS HYMAN.
