Wow! I see why Phyllis defied Clive Davis and did Sophisticated Ladies. She's in her element singing songs from a bygone era. I'm hearing the jazz greats of yesteryears but really hearing my all time favorite Sarah Vaughn. This ain't no damn pop. We were blessed that she stubbornly chose to show us the authentic Phyllis Hyman.

Some people do well with the right Medication Others never find what [Medication] works for them and it's a Struggle. And no one could ever take their talents, nor what they've contributed to music, away from them. But this is high level artistry. Something that so many artists' lack today. Wow. What a voice. Go back and look at some of the best female singers and you will see just what TALENT! is. Billie,Sarah,Ella.. The look of pain and joy on their faces. @dtrim84 You are right "VERY FEW COULD GO WITH HER VOCALLY." Her voice is so dark, rich and smooth. She's one of those singers that you will never get tired of listening too. You can get you a cup of coffee (or wine) and put Phyllis on and just sit back, relax, breath, think happy thoughts. There are soulful singers out there but none compare. GONE TOO SOON.
