Two years ago my daughter and her high school choir group took a field trip to New York and the empire state building. When they got to the top of the building they were forbidden from singing our national anthem or anything deemed patriotic. I was not there but when I called the school to find out how this could possibly be I was told that there were official looking guards on the roof to prevent just such a celebration of patriotism from happening because someone might be offended... Something like this happened near me. An elderly man who was a vet of both Korea and Vietnam and was wounded in both wars had a flag and pole in his yard for many years. The city came up with a new ordinance that no flag pole could be erected on residentially zoned property. One would think he'd be grandfathered in. So they nailed a notice onto his front door damaging it. The notice was like the one this man got. He refused citing the first amendment. So they fined him and it was a lot more than $50 a day. He continued refusing to take the pole down and he refused to pay the fine stating it was unconstitutional. The city then sent him a notice informing him that they were beginning proceedings to take away his house which had been in his family for five generations. He owed no taxes or anything else on the house. This ended up in the newspaper and his neighbors rallied around him, myself included. We all bought and erected flag poles and we all got similar notices. Soon people all over the city put up flag poles and flags. The day of the auction for his house came and over 2000 of us showed up with flags in hand and we prevented the auction from taking place. The police refused to arrest anyone holding a flag. The following election which was two months after that, we voted out every elected official in the city. The anti-American no flag ordinance was rescinded and all records of the proceedings against our neighbor were purged. The new mayor proclaimed a new tax free zone ordinance. Any home in the zone was exempt from paying real estate taxes if it had a flag pole where the American flag was regularly flown. There was only one home within that zone. Guess whose home it was?
At least their HOA does shit. My neighbors got like 6-8 cars and two families living in their house. They park their cars in front of our house and sometimes when it’s really bad in the grass, making their yard look like a literal pigsty. I'm a Filipino, so this doesn't really affect me, but that Veteran really knows how to stand his ground. Every good citizen/soldier is loyal to their motherland and they are willing to fight for it, even if it means getting criticized by others. Two years ago my daughter and her high school choir group took a field trip to New York and the empire state building. When they got to the top of the building they were forbidden from singing our national anthem or anything deemed patriotic. I was not there but when I called the school to find out how this could possibly be I was told that there were official looking guards on the roof to prevent just such a celebration of patriotism from happening because someone might be offended... What the hell is happening to our country!?

Something like this happened near me. An elderly man who was a vet of both Korea and Vietnam and was wounded in both wars had a flag and pole in his yard for many years. The city came up with a new ordinance that no flag pole could be erected on residentially zoned property. One would think he'd be grandfathered in. So they nailed a notice onto his front door damaging it. The notice was like the one this man got. He refused citing the first amendment. So they fined him and it was a lot more than $50 a day. He continued refusing to take the pole down and he refused to pay the fine stating it was unconstitutional. The city then sent him a notice informing him that they were beginning proceedings to take away his house which had been in his family for five generations. He owed no taxes or anything else on the house. This ended up in the newspaper and his neighbors rallied around him, myself included. We all bought and erected flag poles and we all got similar notices. Soon people all over the city put up flag poles and flags. The day of the auction for his house came and over 2000 of us showed up with flags in hand and we prevented the auction from taking place. The police refused to arrest anyone holding a flag. The following election which was two months after that, we voted out every elected official in the city. The anti-American no flag ordinance was rescinded and all records of the proceedings against our neighbor were purged. The new mayor proclaimed a new tax free zone ordinance. Any home in the zone was exempt from paying real estate taxes if it had a flag pole where the American flag was regularly flown. There was only one home within that zone. Guess whose home it was?
