I chose the 32x version when I got the game just because it wasn't edited. Looks like all these years later it's the most expensive version to track down.
The waterfalls on the 32x don't move that slow in reality. They're just as smooth as the SNES version. In case, anyone was wondering. Notice also how the waterfall is in the foreground on the 32x, while the SNES is in the background.

I bought the recent Blizzard Collection and I've been playing the SNES version since I massively prefer the sound and sprites, however I also used a password to play the 32X extra levels
I first played the Mac version as a kid. It's like the 32x version without the extra levels, slightly different color pallete and different sound effects and music. Same passwords though.

I don't like the art style of 32X version too much so the PC version would be nice to have. Kidtendo censorship just ruins game art for no proper reason. As if creatures wouldn't bleed when shot. PC-version might have been omitted because some emulator features were wanted for the release. I would still have preferred to have it included.
Looks to me like the SNES wins. It's all the little details: The glistening gems in the walls, the animated torches, the flashing computer screen on one of the gate things, the better animated waterfall, the better looking laser bridge, the characters not having moobs, all the characters looking a little bit less rendered and plastic, the walking sound effect or lack thereof not being so annoying, the much more subtle HUD, the couple of minor visual additions in the into cutscene such as the glowing hand on bad guy and animated flames on burning castle for example, etc. Also, and this isn't obvious from the video, but it seems the controls are a little more clunky/convoluted on the 32X version if you only have the standard controller, which was the case for the vast majority of Genesis owners. And not only that, but to play the 32X version you would have to own not only a Genesis but the 32X too, a console [add-on] that cost as much as buying a new Genesis plus SNEs combined, and that's on top of the standard Genesis price, and that only a tiny percentage of Genesis owners actually had anyway (so the 99% of Genesis owners who didn't also own a 32X couldn't play this even if they wanted to), and had a library of a grand total of 40 games (what a wasted investment for anyone who bought it), for that "privilege" in the Sega camp. And, to add to all that injury, the 32X was an order of magnitude more powerful than the SNES, and there's basically zero evidence of that here, so you don't even get any advantage to owning that 32X in this case. So, yeah, in my "humble" opinion, the SNES wins.

Skilled cartoonist vs. amateur 3D graphics designed. What is wrong with 32x Blackthorne's elbow when he pulls out his gun? He poses like the sort of thing people made fun of Rob Leifeld for. Even the cutscenes for 32x have missing animation (The smoke/energy rising from Sarlac's hand, for example). Lack of torchlight and cave "twinkles" also refelcts poorly on the 32x version. 32x has crisper sound, but aside from that it's a poor, poor showing. Unless "32x wins" is the new ironic meme that I missed, all of ya'll are wrong.
Yeah the 32X sprites are a lot buffer, which in my opinion is better cause, ya know, it is a video game so why not. Someone said the waterfalls aren't as slow when your actually playing it but I dont know why that would be any different compared to what we are watching. If the snes can show it running fast, then why can't the 32X? Unless the 32x was recorded in 30fps and the SNES in 60fps but I highly doubt this is the case.
Dear lord, the 32x music is a horrible mess of garbage noise. The SNES music was perfect. The graphics also look too polished, and really off to me. SNES is the winner of this one in my books.

Pra mim a versão do SNES é disparada a melhor, a música do 32x é irritante e muito enfeitada, os gráficos são melhores em algumas coisas, mas no geral pra mim o do SNES é mais bonito
I loved this game and was so good at it. It's a good thing I had it, for SN-because not only does it look better, its sound was not poison to my ears like Genesis. Even if you hack red blood in the SNES version, it's just the blood splats that come after a shoot. But the dead bodies are still not covered in blood, neither is Blackthorne in the Game Over screen, unlike the PC and 32X versions. Plus the PC version also has a cool and exclusive bloody animation in the Blizzard logo. So even with the red blood hack, the SNES version is still very light in violence if you ask me.

They had previously released for free the PC DOS versions of both Blackthrone and The Lost Vikings previously in 2013 and 2014 as part of the then called "Blizzard Classic Arcade". For some reason this time they opted for both Sega and Nintendo console versions of the three games (although Rock 'N Roll Racing never had a PC version). Maybe it was just because the PC DOS versions are still available for free on Battle.net and hence it would be no point to add them to this new "Blizzard Arcade Collection", but this way you are leaving the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch users without them. I'm more stranged about the fact that neither in the 2013/2014 "Blizzard Classic Arcade" line (which was a follow up of sorts to the 2003 Game Boy Advance line of the same name) nor in this 2021 "Blizzard Arcade Collection" compilation have they re-released The Lost Vikings II in any way or form. Why is this? Maybe because they despise what Beam Software did with the 32 bit versions, but then again, the SNES version was by then and they neglect that too.

The 32x uses slightly more colors on the backgrounds. But I actually prefer the hand drawn sprites of the SNES.
this was a masterpiece for the 32X... it was just a good game on SNES
It was about the same, except the super version doesn't have music that gives you a splitting headache.

From what I've seen, the original PC/DOS version also has that side bar, it was only removed on the SNES version.

There are some very questionable aesthetic decisions made in the 32x version. I played through the SNES version and don't regret it.
I like the look of the 32X more but I never figured out how to operate my inventory with the 3 buttons... So I'm sticking with the SNES version
U have to switch imput in emulator from 3 button pad to 6 button

The SNES version is better in so many ways. 32X does have an exclusive set of levels and a Lost Vikings easter egg, but that's about it

32x looks amazing but the soundscape is obnoxious and deafening, SNES sounds infinitely better

There's a game genie code that activate blood on snes.
