I'm on the fence between the 3-12 and 5-20. I haven't used either yet but will buying soon. Its my understanding the IR illuminator on the 3-12 is not as powerful as the 5-20, but you can purchase the illuminator used on the 5-20. (Please correct me if I'm wrong). I just want one that's good enough to illuminate up to 300 yards at night with a good field of view for night vision. Do you find the 5X zoom is too much for closer shots, say within 50 yards? Thanks!
@@j.p.4541 It's really going to depend on user preference. For many of our varminting customers shooting primarily within 100 yds, they find the 3-12 provides a better user experience. The ZULUS comes standard with an 850nm illuminator (all models) We chose 850 as the standard because it generally offers better image clarity at a greater distance. Since *some* animals can detect the 850nm spectrum, 940 is available for those who want to be more undetectable.
Tucker Im a older guy , 77, I just put a 5x20 on my crossbow , waiting on the 3x12 W O the rangefinder , DNT said soon to be out .I am only interested in manual operations , not at all computer or phone savy ! This video helped alot , TiborasaurusRex put a great one to sight it in manually . Maybe you can help me , How do I change color AND shape of crosshairs ? If I put a SD card in and press record will it record when im not in standby mode ? Rex does not seem to answer his comments and I understand that . If you dont answer I will understand also . Great Video ! Rick
Hello! To change the crosshair color you tap the menu button(instead of long press). I do not believe you can change the crosshair if so I haven’t learned how yet! For the standby/recording. I believe the scope will record your standby but will drain the battery. But you can turn on auto shot record and when you turn it off standby it should start to auto record anyways.( you’ll find many 3-5 second clips of nothing due to this but it’s a good feature)
@@glennhhart1711 with the internal menu you can swap the way the torch handles the light. So switching actually does not harm. One of my favorite features

Nice work Tucker. Great video!
I just got one and still learning it but I like it so far.
Ordered one last night.
I use a 312 on my rifle as well and smoked a sow that came up behind me while tracking a separate herd. Definitely great for the oh shit moments
Ordered mine today
what about lag ? is there any lag ?
Great info. Nice to see this scope in action. Any negative effect on the night vision from the muzzle flash?
@@mdn3518 nope, we have only had positive feedback from everyone that has used it. Great scope

Nice

Do Not Swap IR torch type.
L stands for LED, V stands for VCSEL, keep it in VCSEL or you will damage the torch
