First a story. So when I arrived in LA (after only ever knowing Casey as a ‘there’s not enough time in one day to make as much shit as we can’ to him calling me saying, yo dan what we doing today and I was like, ‘shooting surely?’ And he responded saying, ‘it’s Wednesday, let’s go surfing rather’ I said ‘what have you done with my friend?’ . Then for about a month all we did was surf and eat vegan Thai. It’s been incredible to watch you go through this change and take the time to absorb all your hard work! I love you my brother in law. Secondly. Love the new format of the vlog - simple, straight to the point and everything you’ve told me to make my videos into (but it’s the hardest in the world when you know you could add so much more so well done for that) And lastly: GREAT song choice - worth the wait. A little over a year later I accepted an offer for my first full time job and loving every moment of it.

hi casey, i am 37 and retired in 2019. coming from Singapore and a pretty traditional asian family, it was not only a rare thing to do, but simply... not normal. it is not part of "the script" to do that at this age. but i am taking it in my stride, and like everything in life, there are pros and cons. i too am wondering about the next chapter of life. but certainly with covid happening just 6 mths in to my retired phase, it really brought family to the forefront. i love my niece and nephew, and i love spending time with my parents, visiting, eating and just being with all of them. whatever the next phase is, its probably not going to get any better than this. (weird thing to say in a middle of a pandemic, but this is the silver lining for me).
i love how they’re kind of the same good old vlogs but more mature in a way; like the story, the subjects that are approached, the editing; they’re so subtle:) i love these new vlogs, they’re a vibe, a good vibe, and they just show how casey has evolved over the years and keeps evolving. love the man and love how he never stops and keeps growing.
I can’t imagine how hard it is for you to try turning off that work ambition to relax and then try to come back to it. Doing nothing seems so hard for me. If I’m not doing something I quickly get depressed and lose my sense of purpose.
My Great Granddad, worked as a farmer on his own farm until he reached 85 in South Africa. His motto was "I'll retire all I want when I lay in my coffin". He couldn't stand doing nothing. Every morning, when he would wake up. He would shower, dress and flick a hand of brylcreem through his hair and get to work. A Classic guy. The wisest, fittest and just a genuine man. Also one of the wealthiest farmers in his area.
I love the genuine nature of your vlogs Casey. The cinematics are amazing, as they always have been. Hope you continue this semi-regular posting schedule.
Scampi I mean I don’t want to bring race into this but he is white south African so most probably he was very well off already and he most probably benefitted from the apartheid system, all I hope is he acknowledges the dark history of his country

Passionate work followed by Mini retirements is my dream life. I learned about that from Tim Ferriss and am lucky enough to be on a 1 year family gap year in my wife's native Poland while working on an amazing non profit. Hope this finds you well Casey. Love catching up on your work and your wisdom.
"Jesus Christ it goes like crazy, man!" -- Casey, that should be the motto of your next phase of life, the phase you are ready to open up. That motto can't miss, see what I mean?
new vlog feels incredibly enlightened. I love the feeling I get from watching these and the shorter (or at least I think they are short, a bit) feels so calculated and so purposeful. Amazing Casey. I am constantly motivated by your work!
I think Casey is smart to take his “retirement” in chunks throughout his life. It allows you to really enjoy your retirement years and not get bored after a few years.
Also it gives him time to slow down and think about his next move, he gets to do this because he was very financially successful, but it takes guts to sit down and take time off work, and not making money all the time
My mother never took a retirement. She worked 5 days a week until her death- she went to work on a Friday and died on Saturday afternoon at 76 years old. She was a nurse for 55 years, the last 25 of which brought us arguments over the philosophy of how to treat dying infants- the only time we ever argued. She loved her job- felt like it was a privilege to be there beside patients to help them with a, "good death." I on the other hand can't handle death, even though I grew up on a farm helping my father to butcher rabbits at the age of 4. I am wrecked by losing a pet, especially if they reach a point where all treatment has been exhausted and the "kindest" thing to do is assist with with a "good death." **** I retired at the age of 49, best thing I have ever done and I am never bored!

i love how they’re kind of the same good old vlogs but more mature in a way; like the story, the subjects that are approached, the editing; they’re so subtle:) i love these new vlogs, they’re a vibe, a good vibe, and they just show how casey has evolved over the years and keeps evolving. love the man and love how he never stops and keeps growing.
I can’t imagine how hard it is for you to try turning off that work ambition to relax and then try to come back to it. Doing nothing seems so hard for me. If I’m not doing something I quickly get depressed and lose my sense of purpose.
My dad died at age 64 right before he got to retire. He didnt even get to spend a penny of his pension :( the idea of retiring now makes me sad
Sorry for your loss
But he got to have you, I'm sure he would choose that over the pension every time
Sorry to heated that.
I've heard this story a time or 2
Oh....it’s Daniel......
2020: Attacks us
Casey Starts Vlogging
- Because he is not the hero we need but the one we deserve
Finally Casey is back 😎
Where did second kid come from?
@@kobrien4121 i also wanna ask that
My Great Granddad, worked as a farmer on his own farm until he reached 85 in South Africa.
Stanley is truly a heart spirit. Embracing everything that comes his way
everybody gangsta until casey neistat starts vlogging again
this
You coming back is the best thing that's happened in 2020. You don't know how badly we all needed this!!!
I love the genuine nature of your vlogs Casey. The cinematics are amazing, as they always have been. Hope you continue this semi-regular posting schedule.
Stanley gives the impression of he's got life sorted out
Scampi I mean I don’t want to bring race into this but he is white south African so most probably he was very well off already and he most probably benefitted from the apartheid system, all I hope is he acknowledges the dark history of his country
@@ln2_official yeah or maybe just maybe its cause he worked hard his whole life and became a doctor and only retired in his 70's
daniel M I am not denying that but when in a country 8% of the people have all the wealth and opportunities there is more chance of him being born with a silver spoon than a stethoscope. I am just stating the probability
Jayant Saini the people disagreeing with you arent educated about how South Africa really works.
A_hamburger isn’t that the real problem, people being unaware about reality living in their perceptions
2:24 how did u get that shot 🤔🤔🤔
Rope down the tip of the yacht?
Maybe cam on a Monopod, mirrored footage afterwards 🤔
Go pro on a stick.
What's up chonggo
Of you liked that shot you will love Jon Olsson’s vlogs with the Boat!
Ok, loving Stanley. He’s a hoot.
Not hard to see where Candice gets her sense of humour from. I've always enjoyed her jokes a lot on the vlogs.
ian9outof10 love her jokes too. Candice is awesome.
4 days in a row!!! 2020 can still be saved
Seriously lol
"Jesus Christ it goes like crazy, man!" -- Casey, that should be the motto of your next phase of life, the phase you are ready to open up.
That motto can't miss, see what I mean?
"I haven't figured out what I want to do next"
Same here buddy.
which is nice when you're already rich...
Two questions I always have to answer to stay sane who am I and what do I want and the want question is harder than the who am I question
new vlog feels incredibly enlightened. I love the feeling I get from watching these and the shorter (or at least I think they are short, a bit) feels so calculated and so purposeful. Amazing Casey. I am constantly motivated by your work!
Stanley's latent South African accent pulling through - Love it!
We love to see it
I was about to comment about this 😂🤣
I think Casey is smart to take his “retirement” in chunks throughout his life. It allows you to really enjoy your retirement years and not get bored after a few years.
Yeah dude, it opens up stuff too, cant go surfing or whatever as much when you're getting on, but its everyday in your 30's etc
Also it gives him time to slow down and think about his next move, he gets to do this because he was very financially successful, but it takes guts to sit down and take time off work, and not making money all the time
@@mo-hammadabunaser1367 Trust me, he's smart enough to realize that his money is now working for him and not vice versa!
I am wrecked by losing a pet, especially if they reach a point where all treatment has been exhausted and the "kindest" thing to do is assist with with a "good death."
**** I retired at the age of 49, best thing I have ever done and I am never bored!
Or, whenever the end of his career is there and he retires he can't do anything because he did it al already.
"I enjoy buying little things on Amazon for 5$ and i like enjoying the fruits of my work."
Hats of to you sir. I hope i will get there some day.
So happy to watch your vlogs again. Kinda lost this channel for x reason but I’m just glad I found it again. Your daughters are so grown, god bless you and your family
