    Him not publishing the documentary on David Dobrick is an extrapolation of his stance on Israel. It's his love for Dobrick/Israel that he doesn't want to hold them truly accountable for the injustice done via their actions. In both scenario's he expresses that he values both sides "equally", but by doing so, it only empowers the party that is in the more powerful position. It doesn't help the suppressed party. Wether these are the victims of David Dobrick's actions, or the Palestinians that are being de-humanised by the state of Israel.

    • @DoctorQcumber
      @DoctorQcumber 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +13

      That's an interesting point, but I think it's also just the classic centrist worldview. You only learn enough about an issue to get to that sweet spot of the Dunning-Kruger effect where you have peak confidence in your worldview, even though it remains pretty uninformed and largely incoherent if you scratch beneath the surface. But it feels good to think you know better than everyone else, so you dismiss people as too extreme when you don't have any substantive counterarguments to their points, all the while telling everyone you're willing to listen to both sides.

      Hold Israel accountable for .. getting invaded by terrorist? He is a New Yorker, a Jew, and he was in NY on 9/11. There absolutely zero chance Casey would not sympathize with the people of Israel and the way Jews have been targeted since. As he was explaining, America's foreign policy does not mean it is open season against Americans. It is the same with Israelis and all peoples. Also, you do not hold a country 'accountable' by saying it should stop existing.

    The problem with Casey and Israel is the fact that he showed support for IDF (by supporting Eylon Levy in his Instagram on March 2024), not just the Jewish cause. IDF is politics. So no point in saying in the video that you do not understand Israel politics and then supporting its major policy enforcer. The problem with Gaza now is not anti-semitism. What Israel been doing for decades is ethnic cleansing, invading territory and disrupting Palestianian chances of creating a viable state by supporting radical extremism (it is well documented Israel's involvement in the creation of Hamas). So by waving his little flag by the window, what he is actually doing is supporting a right-wing government, with two radical ministers (Yoav Galant and Bezalel Smotrich) that want to cleanse the Palestinian people and exert territorial dominion in the area, with the support of the US and British forces. For someone with such reach, Casey needs to study a bit more.

It just rubs me the wrong way the fact that Casey isn't sure about sharing the documentary when, in one way or another, the victim had to re-live the experience by talking to him, watching the film and having whatever involvement she had in it (idk the extent) just because he "still deeply loves and cares about David" is crazy. He said it himself, they trusted him to share their story and it ended up in a dark corner of Casey's storage device... i really hope he decides to share it, because David's behavior is unacceptable and he needs to be held accountable, even more so after what happened to Jeff....

    Framing protesting the killing of the Palestinian civilians as "anti-semitism" is one of the cheapest and most disingenuous things one can say. Then he says that he doesn't know anything about Israeli politics or Netanyahu. Israeli government went much further than protecting the Israel's right to exist. Neistat obviously has a problem with Palestine's right to exist. Hypocritical doesn't even begin to describe it.

    • @MaxRosewater
      @MaxRosewater 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Most protests perpetuate the same messages that Hamas tells, which is to free Palestine by taking Israel, which in the Hamas charter very literally says in writing to massacre all jews around the world. If you are Jewish and listen to this often, how would you feel?
      If you believe what you say, then you should tell Hamas to release the hostages (including American citizens btw) and end the war they started. And to stop hiding guns, bombs, and their military bases in civilian homes, hospitals, and schools. Also, tell them to stop killing people for being gay and stealing Palestinian aid.
      If you truly understood anything about the Israeli army instead of watching propaganda from TikTok, you would strongly change your stance. I write you, similarly to Casey, as a Jewish man trying to have a real conversation about the conflict. I strongly agree and understand what Casey is saying. And, I urge you to reconsider your stance here.

    I found Casey and Candice interesting. Tho, like everything with Casey Neistat, when he turns into a little bro-bitch, he goes hard. Referring to Pro Palestine marches as "antisemitic" is extremely telling. That lack of self awareness and of empathy, combined with a sense of entitlement, goes hand in hand with the way he's handled the documentary. The full throated declaration of "not one to hold my tongue" falls a little short when you give a rape victim a voice, then lock it away.
    Israel's greatest enemy is the information age. "The right" for an apartheid state "to exist" is crazy.

      @samuelrokk He's been advertising this documentary forever. Now he comes on the interview and decides "I'm not gonna show it" and "David is a great guy who handled every situation poorly". The SA wasn't caused by David but it happened because of his direct negligence in an environment he created in the process of creating content for him. Jeff wittek was directly injured by David who sped up that crane, then he left that dude high and dry, because no one held him accountable. Jeff decided to sue because of the things David said in the rough cut of the documentary. David did handle things poorly but that dude in no way is a good guy. He's just another rich dude getting away without consequences because people around him protect him more than his own actions.

    I've always been a huge fan of Casey, until today.
    I used to be the kind of filmmaker who would think, "What would Casey do?". But in this interview, it was like I was sitting there myself talking to him.
    And I thought it was amazing that in one moment he's talking about loving a guy who acts like a 16-year-old even though he's almost 30, who protected abusers, who refuses to pay for surgery and medical treatment for someone who almost died in an accident, a guy who would do absolutely EVERYTHING with a smile on his face for the sake of content and views, a guy who seems unscrupulous, and he talks about DEEP LOVE and the will to protect him.
    But 10 seconds later, when people protest against a genocide, a protest that was clearly IN FAVOR OF A COUNTRY, not necessarily against another, but against monstrous attitudes that are happening, he stands up, runs and confronts the protesters and says that that protest was anti-Israel (???).
    Maybe his love for Dobrick is due to the fact that there was a connection, maybe he looks at him like looking into a mirror, after all, he practically sacrificed years of his marriage and being present for his own children in favor of creating content as well.
    Thank you Jon Youshaei, this is real journalism, this is real content, you did an amazing job!

      i think he just didn't want his youtube videos to be him constantly talking about his app. he wanted it to be separate, especially when even though you're a fan of him, some people dont like him or have negative impressions of him, so its better for his separate business if its not attached to his other brand image especially if he's planning on building it up to sell it eventually, if a company relies too much on a person to be the brand then its much harder to sell it because the company buying it can't own him. he likely won't come as part of the deal for anymore than a few years. and so losing the person who is the brand image can destroy companies when customers only bought into it because of who made it.

    I understand Casey's perspective on Palestine and recognize how polarized the issue has become. However, I believe it’s possible to hold two truths at once: the right of Israelis to live in peace and safety, alongside the equally undeniable right of Palestinians to exist and thrive.
    It's disappointing, though, that some try to form opinions on this incredibly complex situation without considering key historical and political contexts-how the Nakba unfolded, how current policies impact daily lives, and the tragic reality that Palestinian lives are lost to violence from settlers every day. It’s disheartening to see Casey engage with this topic without taking the time to truly understand it.

      I don't see how his stance is disappointing to you unless you don't believe in Israel's clear right to defend itself against a terrorist threat in Hamas. Palestinians deserve their right to have peace the same as Israel, yes. But not at the expense of Israel. And Hamas is the issue here
      Israel has statistically one of the most morally sound armies. Look up any conflict from around this world in the past 20 years, and you'll realize the polarizing focus on Israel is for 1 reason. Because of Jewish people and people upset for Jewish people to have a right to land. That's why they are constantly attacked and threatened by surrounding countries, when Israel is the only democratic nation in the middle east you would actually want to live, with women's rights and LBTG rights, unlike in Palestine where they would kill you for being gay. Israel and the Jews have the right to this land long before anybody else, and even before Islam existed. Palestine also had land, and an ability to create their own peaceful nation. Instead, they did the opposite with much support from the Palestinian people. Is that fair? No. But it's reality.
      And before you refutall with Israel's "illegal occupation" and "apartheid" or "genocide" or talk about occupation, you need to realize that every single country on earth is occupied. Israel and the Jews have the right to this land long before anybody else, and even before Islam existed. This war scale-wise is miniature and Hamas recently uncovered that the death toll is virtually a lie because almost all of them were Hamas soldiers or families held against their own will as human shield.
      And every country has a right to wage war and reap the benefits and consequences of wars that are started, and the outcome of said war. Palestine continues to wage war and lose. And much like any war in modern history, outcomes come with negotiation. What did Germany do when they lost the war? They saw their wrongdoings and corrected their nation. Now a flourishing place of peace and propserity. Palestine could do that. Israel gives gave them millions in aid, electricity, and water. Foreign aid gave them millions to rebuild their country in the 2000s. But instead, they built tunnels and rockets and held wealth from their people.
      I believe Casey doesn't get into the history because of this type of controversy of you being "disappointed," for Jews needing to justify defending themselves from a nation that could have peace but chooses constantly, and irrefutably against it.

Unfortunately Casey's words afterwards come across as hollow when seeing his actions and emotional response. Sure you can fly your flag, some might say that's trying to provoke a response but it's also a way to show your allegiance, just like they protesters do. Opposing sides can engage in conversation but to outright label an opposing view as a hate group before a single word has been spoken, shows your unwillingness to an open conversation.

    I began watching Casey about half a year into his daily vlogs. This is my first time seeing one of your interviews and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

    32:50 dude doesn't want to spend money on cool stuff, wants to hang with his kids. Great advice

    Casey just lost all my respect at the end of this video. This isn’t about anti-semitism , it’s about anti-genocide. Come the fuck on Casey.

    What I’m curious about is what does he do alone in his office everyday. Did he mention anything about that?

      In another video he mentioned he spends a lot of time there tinkering and building things, including building things for the office.

    Love Casey, in the way that helped me to do new stuff, do video, think different and keep doing things. I always learn something new from his words & perspective, he always manage to give new lessons of work & life. Hope to meet him someday and say: Thank You Man. (Love the video Jon new subscriber here)

    You really get a great understanding of how actually childish and shortsighted Casey really is in this interview.
    From his takes on "Israel bad but America bad too!" to waving a Jewish flag above a pro palestinian protest, it's just extremely embarrassing to admit that i used to watch this man vlog his life, and actually enjoyed his content.
