Wood turning a bowl & lid from recycled mahogany

  • Sometimes it’s tough to decide when project left-overs should be saved or discarded. In this case I ended up saving three small pieces of mahogany from 2012 (maybe because they're mahogany!) that got turned into a cool little lidded bowl; now named the Acorn bowl for obvious reasons.
    Hope you enjoyed the video!

Beautiful piece Sapper, the rotation of the grains was a great idea and each time it turns the chatoyance just glows.
    Keep on turning.
    Cheers, Bluey 👍

Great job Michael. I didn't know Danish oil had that much of a sheen. Did you buff it as well? Wax? Thanks. :-)

I mentioned it briefly near the end of the video what I thought I might use for a top coat. And as predicted I ended up using a few coats of Waterlox followed with a wax buffing. Nice catch and thanks for the comment!
