    I think Taylor is right about that the fact that people aren't working to their full potential but there's a reason for that. People are tired, bored, they don't like their jobs etc etc. If someone feels obligated to do their ultimate best by their boss, they will most likely quit that job because it puts too much pressure on them. Not to mention all the people that are disabled and physically/mentally can't do their best at work.

      It's clear you have a deep concern for the well-being of workers and the effectiveness of management practices. Your proposal to have managers invest more effort in recruiting candidates who genuinely enjoy the work is a thoughtful one. Finding people who are passionate about what they do can indeed lead to higher job satisfaction and productivity.
      To implement your proposal, managers could incorporate more thorough screening processes during hiring, including assessing candidates' motivations and interests beyond just their qualifications and experience. This could involve asking more probing questions during interviews or even implementing job shadowing or trial periods to see if the candidate truly enjoys the work.
      Additionally, ongoing efforts to create a positive work environment, provide opportunities for professional development, and offer meaningful incentives beyond just monetary rewards can also contribute to a more engaged and satisfied workforce.

    It was a great video ! But I have a question. Wasn't scientific management more of a kind of operating procedures at field level than general principles ?

  • @UnitedPebbles
    @UnitedPebbles 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    One of the problems with just sticking(being fascist in style)to Taylor is loyalty. Bringing new guys to compete with old guys could means introducing new ideas since those old guys stick to what they know best or current performance. This could means breaking down current system with unforseen consequences. Debt could be one of the consequence as new system cost more money, again seen with Toyota, who eventually also agreed with GM? New guys also could be problem, according to 'berg?, with the requirement of interpersonal and informational reestablishment which required time or legally trust, relationship have to reestablished?

    In my establishment I can clearly see what Winslow feared. and as if we have retreated 100 years. I work for a State-run institution, and the workers are as Winslow described them. very inefficient and practicing soldering to the fullest extend.

    what are the different approaches of HRM?

    • @Alanisbusinessacademy
      @Alanisbusinessacademy  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you referring to some of the different functions of HRM? Like planning, recruitment, selection and others?

    • @JeriRebrebdirek
      @JeriRebrebdirek 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      i am afraid not that... am abit confused what the lecturer meant when she asked us to find out the different hrm approaches

    • @Alanisbusinessacademy
      @Alanisbusinessacademy  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not entirely sure either. I recommend looking through some scholarly article databases to see if any current research has been conducted on the topic. It may have something to do with the shift in HRM to being a source of a competitive advantage, however I'm sure your lecturer wants more specifics.

    As a former Soldier, and hearing the word soldiering used a term of minimal work doesn't quite sit well with me. As a Soldier, we worked efficiently as possible to accomplish our mission. And the concept that only those in management are educated enough to make informative decision is ludicrous. This is a good starting point when it comes to leadership, but this is an old practice. When a worker has more incentives and given the opportunity to make decisions.
