Heyo! Thanks for watching everyone, and helping this video reach over 120k views! I recently started doing solo challenge runs on Pokemon Red/Blue as well. Check out the first run here if you're interested! th-cam.com/video/65oNPAB0QP4/w-d-xo.html Hoping to have more content soon!
I thought it would be better if I followed the whole "show don't tell" philosophy. Tried to cut out parts where I wasn't talking to make it shorter but I apparently talk a lot lol. Ended up being a lot of cuts due to that and me recording this over like 3 days.
14:39 Fun fact: Super Luck does in fact have two abilities! Similarly to Compound Eyes, Super Luck gives an increased chance of item drops in a regular Pokemon game. However, seeing as items can stack in this game, I can see why it hasn't been fully implemented.
Thanks so much! Havent been able to pass 50. Most videos about this game assume we know so much or have already beat the game but this is the first video that actually walks us through the beginning. Really appreciate it!
I beat classic and had a 5000+ endless run, and your tips and walk-through is superb dude. Really well done, good analysis, and so cool that you did a fresh start. I forgot how rough it is to start fresh, and this is a really good guide. Well done and definitely underrated.
This is so much better than a tips one. You do a lot of little things that I think a lot of us beginners wouldn't think of doing. I would never reroll this early, and I potion like crazy.
I figured actually showing it would be better for that reason. It's hard to fully explain little things like that, especially when they're things I might not even think to explain normally. Thanks for watching!
That fletching had a maxed attack IV, so it would have attack similar to a fletching with a bad attack IV and a neutral nature assuming stat calculation works the same as the mainline games.
I've never played, I have no real intent to play, and I've never enjoyed the general Pokémon battle mechanics.. yet your commentary kept me engaged for the full 2 hours, cheers!
I lost around 170 because either a boss outsped all my pokemon or a gym leader who I just barely lost to I forgot after awhile all the runs sorta blend together
@@sgrodoloxus9264 No amount of f5 can salvage this one save file. Its just all my fault. My team is cripplingly weak to the Team Aqua boss. Can't wish pass out of this mess.
The legendary gacha actually does give you double the chance for a legendary egg. You have the normal rate to get a random legendary, but you get an additional chance to get the shown legendary, so if anyone doesnt have any yet it's well worth the tickets.
Pretty sure watching this cursed me. My rival has gotten an aerodacty on level 25 4 times in a row now and got dumpstered. I'm not sure what the odds of that are, but I'm willing to go buy a lottery ticket instead
38:27 If I remember correctly all Pokémon have one egg move that's rarer then their other egg moves and that egg gacha increases the odds for the hatched Pokémon's rare egg move
Rival shows up with M ega Ray. I can win the first time but later, they just come back even stronger. My resources depleted, my team badly beaten, and poor movepool. That one hurts the worst, the constant bad movepool and TM that get presented to me.
So I heard about this game from a friend and got into it a few days ago, today I finally grinded up enough candies for Fuecoco's unlockable ability which boosts any "voice" move(so his fairy egg move and torch dance were insane). I spent most of my vouchers at first on the shiny up eggs and got lucky with a rare shiny Azurill, and then when it evolved into Marill that was added to my gen 2 dex and it also was a rare shiny, I reduced the cost of Azurill with candies and was able to take both of those for a +4 luck boost, so my luck was B rank which helped a LOT. Basically my starting team every run was Fuecoco+ the 2 shiny water mice. And I was able to catch a Zigzagoon early for Pickup, aswell as get Golden Punch on my main sweeper around the halfway point so I was sitting on like 150k money by the end of the run. All the tips from this vid also helped a ton, I finished my first run by spamming forest, meadows etc. all those grassy areas because I got a Town Map early on(and all the grass zones are easy sweeps for my fire starter), and Latios spawned as a boss in one of those, I caught it and then later got DNA splicers, combined my Latios with my Skeledirge to make a Dragon/Ghost type with insane special attack and speed. I kept giving it all the items from Pickup, even got a Quick Claw by the end which came in clutch and also the Berry Pouch was insane, all the buffing ones would just proc multiple times if I was still low and it was not consumed. That + Leftovers and the fused pokemon knowing torch song,a 95 power psychic move, dragon pulse and shadow ball made it easy to sweep everything up to Eternatus(funnily enough the rival's Rayquaza got oneshot when I had setup all my stat buffs, Eternatus gave me wayyy more trouble). So yeah my first run I basically relied on the Luck stat and on a single DNA Spliced Latios+Skeledirge to carry me through and it worked surprisingly well, that thing had 700 hp by level 200 which was insane. I got so many red-tier items like dynamax band because of that luck stat. Oh and a King's Crown also got me some insane flinches that probably saved me a few times. Honestly my intention with this run was just to farm eggs with my luck stat giving me vouchers at the end of fights+farm candies for fuecoco so I could maybe reduce his cost, but those DNA Splicers ended up making it a winning run. Most of the dex is filled from all the eggs I got, and I got quite a few legendaries,semi-legendaries and mythicals too while I was grinding. So thank you for the detailed video!
Wish I found this when I beat my first run from what I can tell it was posted the same day I completed my run still a very good video will use for future runs
Off topic but one of my friends was using a reshiram Wave 1. A lvl 2 ditto appeared, proceeded to copy his reshiram and sweeped his team of reshiram and shinx ON WAVE 1
I saw this game did a quick search looking for a wiki put in a email next think you know I’m playing the game faster then I could blink didn’t even know what I was doing until the first fight started
Common misconception neutral natures are not neutral because the don’t boost or lower any stats they are neutral because they raise and lower the same stat i.e. bashful is plus defense minus defense
Eternatus has flamethrower in its first form as well now. You can't cheese it's first form with a simple fairy/steel type any longer. My tip for new players would be to look into Pachirisu. It's a massive utility boon. It's abilities ensure a good economy. You can use super fang in lieu of false swipe for catching pokemon and doing big damage to tank mons. Sizzly slide can put burn on eternatus and other big threats. It has a really low cost and it's electric so only one weakness, and it's relatively fast. You can put it on any team and it will be a huge help. This last run it managed to do a lot of work against eternatus while teamed up with mega alakazam. Lately I've been trying to fuse dachsbun onto aron or maybe cufant later for a mon immune to eternatus. Once I get Aron's passive the resulting fusion will have no weaknesses, 4 invulnerabilities, 8 resistances, really high defense, can inflict burn, heal, will get stab on 2 different types...
details: normally an egg has a 1/256 chance to be a random legendary (manaphy has special eggs so idk if it's included). the legendary+ gacha has an extra chance to give a legendary egg; this extra chance is guaranteed to be the legendary in the gacha. example: today's legendary is rayquaza. in the shiny gacha you have a 1/256 chance to see a legendary egg, and rayquaza is one of >50 legendaries, so your standard chance to get a rayquaza is less than 1/12800. putting eggs in the legendary gacha today, you have a 1/128 (twice as good) to get a legendary egg; if you see a legendary egg, your chance of it being a rayquaza are 50-51%.
I was able to win my classic mode in just few runs. What I did is I capture good pokemon in daily runs and then I use it to challenge as many gym leader and save the ticket and use all of it to spin for a good legendary when it's available in the gacha. Then used that legendary to win my classic.
I got to like 140 on my first run. Then 60 a couple other times, but mostly seem to get filtered at round 30 or earlier. Hoping this video will get me there.
Ok this sounds stupid but does anybody know why my pokerogue doesnt have movement animations and his does? Is my out of date is it my software is something off in my settings? this game looks so much better this way can anybody help please
The Nacli line is common in caves and uncommon in mountains. He's pretty good with sturdy and salt cure. Best thing is to splice one onto something like Tinkaton so that tinkaton gets salt cure then unsplice them. That way tink keeps salt cure but stays immune to all of Eternatus' attacks since it doesn't get flamethrower in endless.
I can't even get pass round 20 D: i keep getting lickitung and snorlax as the bosses, they keep rest stalling and one-shotting my team... it's pretty frustrating
Just make sure you're picking a strong carry and prioritize leveling only 1 or 2 pokemon in the early parts. Idealy you should be able to 1-2 shot the bosses at that point
I beat Classic mode once and came really far twice, I've always used the shiny up machine to hatch but haven't gotten a shiny yet, am I unlucky or do I need more patience?
Thanks for watching! Are you talking about the Eternatus fight? I haven't rewatched this one in a while, but I probably did it at that point. It because since Eternatus steals items every turn, it make the fight easier if you put all your items on a Pokemon that you don't plan to use, it stops him from stealing a bunch of items and getting stronger during the fight.
i always get stuck at the 145 rival battle or onwards and i havent gotten past 195 yet so i still have no idea how well im going to do on the final boss lol
Getting past Ivy at 195 with enough money to heal up is the real challenge. As long as you have some combination of leech seed/salt cure/curse then Eternatus won't be an issue. Bonus points if you have things that can heal, protect, or have unnerve.
If you go to your settings it's at the very bottom of the display menu I think. I can't verify for sure since the server's down but I think that's where it is
Ah, good to know! I wasn't able to find any specific info when I was making this. I just found it now though, looks like I read the gacha rates wrong on the wiki. It is double odds!
So, I was hoping for megas for the ones that could get it but those 4 are really good even without it. Skeledirge isn't super useful in the final fight, but he's really decent throughout the run. Gengar and Venasaur with curse and leech seed make Eternatus a joke. Tinkaton is really solid all around and is only affected by 1 of Eternatus' moves. Venasaur is also really bulky and stalls well. Then Blastoise, Gyarados, Gengar, and Skeledirge are all capable of sweeping on their own when the situation is right. That's basically my rough draft lol
@@Valancet Ok. I was wondering because I have almost the exact same team, except I have Zigzagoon instead of Tinkaton (because of Pick-up and I have found Tink). And someone on the discord for this game was wondering why I have both Blastoise and Gyarados on the same team. (My Blastoise has Bouncy Bubble, Ice Beam, Shell Smash and Flash Cannon. Gyarados has Dragon Dance, Avalanche, Crunch and Waterfall).
@@jaimereupert4247 ya people get too fixated on type variety sometimes. It isn't really "that" important as long as they're good pokemon and have good coverage. Heck, some of my easiest runs have been monotype runs
@@Valancet I currently am in a battle with a Gholdengo and wondering if I should catch it to replace Zigzagoon or wait until I get either Tinkaton or Garganacl.
The best way is to look them up online (either the PokerogueDex, Serebii, Smogon, or Bulbapedia) and check their "base stats". Those represent the growth rate of their stats. So whichever one is higher is usually what they specialize in with a few exceptions.
I used the tips of this video to get a good run but ended up losing it then restarting another run but with Rayquaza and a pickup zigzagoon I didn't even need to finish the team to beat all 200 floors
Haven’t won yet, but my best run started with mewtwo, found gengar and latias, got mega on both the above legendaries but died to mega reyquaza. Everything I had died in 1 shot to him :(
Update: a few runs later I got my first win :) Was another mewtwo run but got the mega mewtwo at around 110 instead of 180. Rest of the team was linoone, breloom, magnezone, talonflame and dusknoir. Messed up and made dusknoir steel which changed curse (that guy the tesselisation would add steel type and not replace ghost) but mega mewtwo X carried instead despite not removing berries. Having 4 twisted spoons helped in addition to an X speed before 195 and 200
Beat it on my second try ever somehow. First round I prolly lost within the first 40. Id like to recommend a pokemon that knows Knock-off. Also jumpluff was my unexpected goat. Haxorus with dragon dance and outrage ran it big time. ALSO PICK THE FREAKING MAP!!!!
I have now had 2 runs die at floor 190, and one at 170. I just cant seem to get over the hump and the early game is so inconsistent that its hard to stay motivated. Thank you for this

I made a new account to play as new ok then I got a master ball then a dna splicer what and then I lost
Sad that Eternatus now got the flamethrower in his first phase, so he got way harder now
You can get to the Graveyard by going to the Lake, then Swamp and finally Graveyard.
How do you get it to show damage numbers
It's near the bottom of display in the settings. It's called type hints

Maybe after watching this, I might be able to actually beat Classic mode finally.😊
How do you know which pokemon is physical and what is special ?
The best way is to look them up online (either the PokerogueDex, Serebii, Smogon, or Bulbapedia) and check their "base stats". Those represent the growth rate of their stats. So whichever one is higher is usually what they specialize in with a few exceptions.
@@Valancet thanks for your response 👍
I used the tips of this video to get a good run but ended up losing it then restarting another run but with Rayquaza and a pickup zigzagoon I didn't even need to finish the team to beat all 200 floors
I had an extremely lucky run getting 5 exp all but the lost in the 20s
Incinerate also hits both enemies in double battles.
great vid man
Haven’t won yet, but my best run started with mewtwo, found gengar and latias, got mega on both the above legendaries but died to mega reyquaza. Everything I had died in 1 shot to him :(
Update: a few runs later I got my first win :)
Was another mewtwo run but got the mega mewtwo at around 110 instead of 180. Rest of the team was linoone, breloom, magnezone, talonflame and dusknoir.
Messed up and made dusknoir steel which changed curse (that guy the tesselisation would add steel type and not replace ghost) but mega mewtwo X carried instead despite not removing berries. Having 4 twisted spoons helped in addition to an X speed before 195 and 200
What carried me all the way to 200 was a jacked Crobat but I had no real answer for the final boss. Ehe moment.
Wow im super bad at pokemon first try i died at the first boss holy f i tried a few after that highest floor was like 35 or something 😅
Ghost is super effective on psychic pokemon
Beat it on my second try ever somehow. First round I prolly lost within the first 40. Id like to recommend a pokemon that knows Knock-off. Also jumpluff was my unexpected goat. Haxorus with dragon dance and outrage ran it big time. ALSO PICK THE FREAKING MAP!!!!
my best run so far is stuck on 165 with Rose…
Timid - Attack (lowered stat)
Thanks! Couldn't think of it to save my life and forgot to look it up after lol
Great vid.
I have now had 2 runs die at floor 190, and one at 170. I just cant seem to get over the hump and the early game is so inconsistent that its hard to stay motivated. Thank you for this
Thanks big bro 🙌🙌
Thanks a ton for this
Thanks to you for watching!
I feel like pokerogue doesn’t like running on my laptop
It could just be the server being slow sometimes. It freezes up and crashes on occasion for me when the servers are heavy
@@Valancet it’s not really that, it’s only when I play the kind of downloaded version you can put on your desktop
Thanks anyway tho
This guy sounds like JD Vance lmaooooo
Thanks for the walkthrough though
he sounds like the comedian nate bargatze
