They're surprisingly, very friendly to humans. They look terrifying but they pose no threat to us as long as we respect them and keep our distance. Now a cassowary 😨 those birds will definitely hurt you, and badly at that.

Yeah, not seeing any comments talking about the terrifying size of this thing, y’all don’t understand 1.2 meters is 3’11 feet, meaning this thing is nearly 4 feet tall. Not only that, it’s wingspan in 2.4 meters which is equivalent to 7’10 feet, this bird is Massive

They look scary but man’s only opps are literally other shoebill’s. I’m not kidding they hate each other and will immediately fight on sight. This goes for siblings too lmao. They do meet to mate but that’s about it. Zoo keepers are trying their best to not let these birds go extinct
