    Hey Natacha!! I don’t know whether you remember me when I talked to you in summer about my ED, but I decided to make a change this year seeing as my GCSE’s are in June and my lowest weight was 41kg, and I’m now 51.7kg and this morning I got my period back after not having it for 13 months!! There’s still a lot of guilt and self hatred and I’m very uncomfortable, but I’m excited to have a body that can function again. Thank you so much for all of your videos, your advice and support have definitely helped. Lots of love! 😘 xxx

      Omg Lauren, it feels weird and perhaps a bit condescending being proud of a stranger on the internet but here we are. You are doing something amazing, and for future warning; you're going to relapse at some point, it's going to happen, please don't beat yourself up over it, and please don't figure 'well i restarted now i can go back to it', just take care of yourself and hop back on the train bc you are so worth it. You will learn to manage that voice, and you're only going to get better at it the longer you keep this up. Getting your period back and returning to a healthy weight is such an achievement. It's all the more poignant after seeing an ED warning at the beginning to see a recovering person down here and shows that Natacha is doing something right too!

    Just want to say a huge thank you for the eating disorder disclaimer at the beginning of the video. As someone recovering from a nasty binge/restrict cycle, it can be easy to get sucked into a lot of the fitness media out there that isn’t necessarily negative but definitely isn’t conducive to recovery. Thanks for acknowledging that abs or other fitness goals that aren’t inherantly unhealthy is not always appropriate for every person. Just the little you said was enough to give me the strength to turn off my screen and shift my focus out of a headspace that really wasn’t helping my progress. The more mental health is talked about the less people feel alone!

    3:13 Resistance training with plyometrics -> increases metabolism 4:08 HIIT - 30 seconds on 30 seconds off -( Max 20 mins 2 sessions a week)

    "I just saw some food over there and got really distracted" haha same! Thank you so much Natacha for existing. I've just like you had a really troubled relationship with food and exercise, but I would finally say that I've gotten out of it. And I can honestly say that what has helped me the most through my recovery are your videos. You have made me realise the benefits of weight training and not doing it for looks. You have made me see that food isn't something you should fear, but something you should enjoy. You have made me a happier person. I know it's cheesy, but it's true. Keep up the good work and never quit what you're doing, unless it makes you unhappy of course ;-) . Your videos truly help so thank you!

    I never leave comments but I do want to say that I think this video is a little misleading. I do agree with her that decreasing calories combined with increasing exercise is not beneficial for your health or sustainable and will affect your metabolism, hormones, ability to gain muscle and lose fat in the long term. However, what I find misleading and a common thread in many of her videos is the constant mention that she eats whatever/whenever she wants and eats up to 3,000 calories etc. do not be fooled by this. This woman trains like an Olympic athlete, you can see in the clips of her workouts. She is also tall and muscular, I could guarantee you with her size, muscularity and intensity of her workouts she is burning close to 2,500- 3,000 calories a day or maybe even more. I could also imagine that there are multiple days when she accidentally eats less than what she burns just because of the sheer intensity/ calorie burn of her workouts. EVERYTHING IS RELATIVE. Just because someone is saying they eat 3,000 calories a day does not mean they are eating in a huge surplus or even a surplus at all at times. Also, most people don’t have the time, space, resources and knowledge to work out the way she does. SO unless you are literally training like an Olympic athlete on a regular basis the way she does, you will not get abs from eating like her. Even normal weight training for an hour will have most women only burning 1800-2200 calories for the whole day. Anyway still love her videos, I hope that one day I can build myself up to training the way she does because it is so admirable BUT I did want to put that disclaimer out there.

      @longtimestuklat 4 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      Yes!!! I love Natacha..she's my ultimate fitness goals and she's a total beast who works her ass off... but i totally agree with you. I've seen multiple videos like this from these fitness youtubers and it's actually a bit of a pet peeve of mine. I know it's the cool thing to just tell everyone to eat whatever they want and just work out, but in reality unless you have an over active metabolism or work out as hard as she does (which the majority of people who watch this video probably don't) that's just not practical. If you are the average person, who works at a sedentary job or only works out 2 or 3 days a week, eating 2500-3000 calories a day, will probably not lose weight or have abs like that. Especially if you are a little bit overweight and are watching these videos because you want to start getting fit. People need to remember that these fitness youtuber's jobs are to work out and make videos..their job is being fit. What they are saying is absolutely true for them, but for the average fit or semi-fit person who probably only works out half the amount she does, it's not realistic.

      I think it actually makes some sense when you consider that Natacha goes by intuitive eating.
      My understanding of intuitive eating is:
      - Eat nutrient dense foods
      - Allow yourself some indulgence from cravings
      - Only ever eat when you're actually hungry
      With these three points in mind, virtually anyone can naturally eat the amount of calories they require without counting them. After all, there is no calorie counting in nature. If you eat nutrient dense foods (i.e. whole foods with lots of micronutrients) then your body will feel full much more quickly than say from eating pop chips like in Natacha's example. In short, nutrient dense food naturally helps you eat less.
      As for the "eat whatever you want" aspect, I take that as if you happen to crave something specific, you should just allow yourself that thing. The idea here is that if you constantly deny yourself any cravings, eventually you will just binge on crap. I've definitely been there, with so many peaks and valleys of eating completely healthy for a streak and then going back to a trash diet. It's all about keeping yourself satisfied for how you eat on a daily basis. After all, you're in it for the long term and that means it has to be sustainable.
      Then there's only eating when you're hungry. This could sound obvious but it really is a big deal. Some people way over think if they're eating enough or too little and maybe under eat while they're still hungry or over eat when they're bloated because maybe they feel they need more calories. The problem is that's just not natural and it doesn't help the body at all. Eat too little and we all know the metabolism eventually slows to adapt. Eat too much and weight gain. If you listen to your body and eat only while the hunger persists, it becomes easier and yes, more intuitive. The trick is that the body often doesn't register whether or not you're full until maybe 20 minutes after a meal. So a good habit is to slow down while eating a large meal and pay attention to when you're actually feeling full. Maybe even pause in the middle and just be conscious of how your body feels. If you think you've eaten a lot and still feel hungry, sometimes you may just need some water. Oddly enough, thirst can cause a similar sensation to hunger. When you combine this with eating nutrient dense foods, it will become virtually impossible to over or under eat for your individual needs.
      Anyways, that's just my two cents.

I really want to thank you for your great videos about bloating and what you eat in a day because my daughter used to eat less than 1,000 calories a day and still workout because she thought that was how you had to do it. Now she eats loads of good and healthy food and has built do much muscle and has gained so much more mental and physical strength. I would tell her exactly what you've said in your videos, but she didn't listen because I'm just her mother. The "not skipping on anything" part is still something I have to learn, I believe. Currently I'm on the ketogenic diet and I've actually gained weight (was underweight before). Whenever I'm trying to reintroduce carbs I end up feeling incredibly shitty. I would LIKE to eat more carbs again but I'm also massively afraid I'll gain even more weight.
    Other than that, great video as always. I love your "intuitive" approach. Also you continually motivate me to keep training and maintaining a healthier relationship to food than I had before. Lots of love

    I love you SO much. ❤ I had abs when I had ED, because I had such a low body fat and also had like 48 kg and I'm 178 cm tall. Now, that I'm weight restored (64 kg - but still want to gain weight), eating 2300-2500 kcal per day and workout about 4-5 times per week, I don't have visual abs, but I'm so much stronger and I finally have a lot of energy. I wouldn't mind to have abs, won't lie xD, but for now, the most amazing thing is that I became stronger and healthier version of myself. Like you said - it's important that you don't just focus on how you look. :) For the end; AMAZING video as always Natacha; you are amazing, inspiring and you radiate sooo much positivity! ❤ Thank you for everything! xoxo ❤

    Haha when you said that each person stores fat in certain places mine is definitely my stomach so I've just learnt to embrace it! After about 2months of going to gym for trying to change what I look like I am now going to have fun and I finally don't feel bad about binning off a work out to do something I am feeling like doing press handstand progressions ;) also found a love for the les mills body combat class which I can see has effected me both physically and mentally. I'm still trying to figure out what food makes me tick and how much is enough but I'm getting there slowly. Absolutely love your videos they are always inspiring me to get that extra rep or extra 2" on my box jump when I'm completely exhausted! Thanks for all you work on the channel!

    Omg your videos are SO HELPFUL like whenever I wanna research smth you upload a video that explains me everything I wanted to know! Also I love the vibe of your channel and I can relate to your story, like I have pretty similar past (severely undereating and overtraining at the same time just bc of body goals, obsessing over the numbers on the scale, eating 700-1000kcal a day just doing so much damage to my body) and that makes the things you talk about even more helpful. I also LOVE gymnastics and I'm planning to try it out next year. I'm so glad I've found your channel and waiting for another video ❤️

    You are so disiplined and help others to be disiplined. Thank you girl. Also do you have any tips to burn leg fat and build strong and toned legs.

    • @LauraEllen
      @LauraEllen 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      All of the plyometric and hiit work she shows here will also yield strength and fat burning in legs. Fat burning happens all over the body, not just in one isolated area.
      For example, the muscles in your legs don't "own" the fat in your legs. That fat is pulled for energy during plyometrics and hiit just the same as the fat in arms, abdominals, glutes, etc. Fat burning is a metabolic phenomena, not a muscle-building phenomena. Does that help, love?

    • @katiehunt2079
      @katiehunt2079 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I’ve found the most effective way to get lean, strong, defined legs- always mixing it up. But going for a fast walk and doing a training session most days. The most effective workouts for me are any deadlifts and lunges especially with weight (as long as you have the right form)

    • @LauraEllen
      @LauraEllen 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed! Those lower body movements, especially with weights, really get your heart rate up, which of course increases metabolism. Plus, going for a daily walk just increase your overall daily movement, which is PIVOTAL!
      I also make videos on compulsive eating and diet change, so if you're looking for more practices or tricks, they may be of service to you.
      So much love to you, dear

      You hit the nail on the head. Want results? Stop telling yourself you have a fictional ED and be disciplined. Use google start a diet and exercise plan and just stick to it. Results will come if you are disciplined. If you are not disciplined then don't tell me you have ED, you are just weak and give in to cravings.

    GIIIIIIIIIRL! Thank you for mentioning the fact that HIIT should be done x2 a week or so, and not like every day. 2 years ago, for about 3-4 months I did 30-40minutes of HIIT, followed by 20 minutes of weights or 30-60 minutes of cardio (elliptical, treadmill) and like within 4 weeks I didn't understand why i'd feel so tired and unmotivated. One time i even did a 60 minute HIIT session. Jesus. I wore my body down SO, SO MUCH. Now i follow your e-book, and on my active recovery ill do elliptical, running or extra HIIT 20min session, but oh boy, doing HIIT 4+ times tires you out so much, and burns you out. THANK YOU for all this info in the video!

    training
    - reduce body fat- resistance training with polymetrics, HIIT (2x/wk is enough), hypertrophy training (increase weight for reps)
    - excercises: ball weight crunches, oblique twist, russain twists with weight, hang weighted tucks, hanging ab single band raises
    - have quality calories to fuel, don't skip macros
