I have never done any of this, and I have never had a problem completing the last 14 updates. I'm sure that the Asobo advice is to only do this IF you have a problem, otherwise, dont bother.
Fair observation.
Agreed. Never did the empty community stuff and never had a problem (gladly)
@@jcsk8 You might be tempting fate by not renaming or moving it.
@@Huddison
Same here, no prob but now my Xbox s HD is running low and so I probably have to delete my 2K golf game! 😢😢 or stay on my meager gaming pc.
Funny, I never had problems with the updates for MSFS ever, eventhough haven my community folders filled with loads of downloads.
I haven't either (when I didn't remember to rename my Community folder), but it is advised PC Simmers do so.
before the update best to watch this video and have a cup of tea to calm ones nerves .
Particularly when performing a Sim Update eh 😁
Only if some tasty crumpets are included with the spot of tea
@@Huddison so has SU 15 come out today and is it as advertised on the tin ??
@@mikecoffee100 I don't believe it's out yet Mike and no one seems to have a clear answer of when it's dropping.
@@Huddison phew didnt feel like fussin with it today anyway and thank you for the update info
Hey Huddison,
thanks for all the great videos.
Your voice always reminds me of my English teacher at school back in the 90s.🙂
Kind regards from Germany!
Thanks, I'm going to take that one as a compliment 😆
So, to be short: rename or move the Community folder, and after the mandatory update, update in Profile, Content manager.
The Community folder can always be found in FS in Developer mode. Set Developer Mode ON (Options, General), then Tools, Virtual File System, Packages Folders, and click Open Community Folder.
Bravo - basically
Also delete the rolling cache
Shout out for MSFS Addon Linker. A great way of managing your community folder.
Good tip.
I think it will be a very useful video for simmers 👌 I would also recommend resetting the rolling cache if you're using it. I believe data might not be the same if a scenery has been updated.
100%
Yes, that's what is recommended by others as well. The more when your Community folder (like mine) is loaded with add-on software. Delete the rolling cache at your last shut down - prior to the expected release of the SU - and reset your rolling cache size only when the SU (incl. all in the content manager) is successfully completed.
Thanks for a great reminder video. On the point of the 3rd party .exe files, such as the JustFlight examples you gave, I always get an email from them telling me that an update is available. This saves me from having to check them myself. Cheers.
Yes absolutely - Just Flight are great with those kind of email notifications.
Great video. I have been thinking about SU15.........like I have spent so many hours fine tuning SU14, DLSS file swaps etc etc etc....sigh here comes another update to break it all again LOL. BTW I love FS and I am invested in the journey .... hardwork though LOL
Tell me about it 😀
Thank you for your advice....It always helps....Roger...Pembrokeshire...
Thanks Roger, always my pleasure.
James... Very informative. I have never done this before. Not a bad idea to do just to be safe... Will do this before next update which at this point who knows when coming out !..🤪🤪🤪.
Thanks Bob. Keep an eye on our Discord for more news of when the update will be dropping.
Many thanks, Last time i didnt change anything and lost all my community folder. Wont make that mistake again haha!
Ouch Soup, that must've been highly frustrating.
Great video. Don't know if you ever have explained deleting the Global cache files for those that are new
Great added info and point 👍
I don't know why we have to take those extra steps to install sim updates, I wish Asobo would give us an update to make installing sim updates easier, I know it's a simple matter of renaming the Community folder before installing such updates, the problem is not knowing when a sim update is available and you start the flight simulator without renaming the Community folder, which I've done a couple of times before with SU 11,12 and SU 14. With the uncertainty of the release date of SU 15, that could happen! It would also be nice to have a warning of a pending update install when we start the simulator so that we can at least have a chance to exit the sim and take those necessary steps, instead of being forced to automatically install updates!
Great points.
Thank you so much for the information. It's really appreciated and helpful. Great video.
Many thanks Doc.
great show thank you so much after all the updates nvidia and msfs my GLcache has moved , any thoughts on where it might be
Not certain; our Discord might be able to help better.
@@Huddison founded it when I was cleaning up my cache I have forgot to reactivate my shader cache size in the NVIDIA control panel, if the shader cache size is disabled ,nvidia will delete the GLcache folder after you reboot your computer a few times.thanks for all the great help you give to so many of us
@@Photoshopmanipulator That's good to hear
I wonder if this situation might be causing my problem. I was not on MSFS for a while and when I came back after a some up dates, I found that my alpha and Bravo controls were not acting right. My throttle , for instance , needed to be pulled for acceleration and pushed for decelerating. Is it possible that I may have to re-install MSFS to correct this? Thanks for all your videos.
Go into Controls Options/Power Management and untick the 'Reverse Axis' box (on your throttle axis). Hopefully that'll solve your issues there.
Thanks! A useful reminder!
Thank you so much. Think your videos are the best for helping with these technical issues. It really helps
Appreciated thanks.
Do you know if SIM update 15 😊 will fix the problems of avionics going black? I stopped flying back at Christmas due to this
It's meant to fixing those issues.
I know sim update 15 is on the way but not exactly when. Rather than go through this procedure every day until it does arrive, is there anyway of anticipating its release so I can do it only once?
Keep an eye on our Discord Server and in other places for the official release day.
I wish they would cut down on the updates ! I can’t turn my Xbox on and play MSFS without having to go through a update !
This next one _should_ be the last of the year (for MSFS 2020 at least).
@@Huddison There will be SU15 patches along the way as always....
I heard that there is still another beta of SU 15 pending so im willing to bet that this update will get delayed yet again
Does anyone know how big SU15 will be once installed?
SU15 will be delayed. Again... But at least this way this video can be seen by more people.
positive in so many ways!
@@Huddison Pays to be a beta tester I say. WASM is back to normal as of this morning and my update.
Is SU15 really out today? I just heard that its delayed ever more. Any news?
No news as of yet.
@@Huddison It has been delayed but SU 15 beta testers now get WASM fixed and we go to version 1.37.17.0 and the stuttering issues they mention I have never had them on Series X.
Nothing here for XBox. Doing updates afterwards is trivial.
when is the update dropping ??
Atm, scheduled for the 7th May (tomorrow).
@@Huddison thanks!
@@Huddison 7th here in Australia 7 hours ago. LOL
SU15 it tomorrow?
Hopefully, It's scheduled for then.
@@Huddison Thank you and Where have you get this information?
@@sergentam632 Various sources including the 'official' source: www.flightsimulator.com/may-2nd-2024-development-update/
Does not work for me, say some file are open in a another program!
Restart.
Have no programs running, have tried many times the past last year ,same pop meny, file running on other program.
Have no ide, where that could be!😢
@@anbrod1I acsedentely started the sim from the xbox app once (I have the game on Steam) and had a lot of problem after. But managed to fix it after I had to update my MSFS account again.
By default community folder is empty??
Yes, if you haven't added anything into it (this includes purchases from external websites).
@@Huddison neither Xbox purchases?
I don't believe the Xbox version has a Community Folder, so no need to worry about that one ;)
@@Huddison I meant bought it on XBox but using Pc now where do those planes are ??
If you bought the aircraft on the Marketplace, you don't need to worry
It's probably getting delayed again
That wouldn't be a bad thing if it's not ready.
완전부실!! 이게 집이냐. 건설사 진짜 너무한다.
? Sounds like BS to me! You (they, ASOBO) are suggesting that every time I launch FS2020, the Community folder should be renamed, launch, find that 15 hasn't been released. Quit, un-rename folder and re-launch??!
