    SUMMARY
-Kennel cough can be more serious for puppies, kittens, and breeds with pushed-in faces because their face shape may cause additional breathing difficulties.
-Vomiting can stem from gastrointestinal illnesses, pancreatitis, kidney disease, or parasitic infections. Blood in the vomit is a major red flag that could indicate your pet has gulped down a sharp object that’s irritating its stomach.
-Undiagnosed abnormal swelling in the stomach could potentially be life-threatening as it puts additional pressure on the chest cavity and makes it hard for your dog or cat to breathe.
-Weakness or lethargy in dogs and cats usually accompanies all kinds of infections and serious diseases like diabetes, hypoglycemia, and anemia.
-If your dog or cat is being anxious or looks scared for no reason and is constantly pacing, shaking, or whining, this can point to a range of health issues including mange, rabies, Cushing's disease, or heart problems.
-If your dog or cat has lost 10% of its normal body weight, it could be a sign of a serious issue, such as a metabolic disorder, kidney or liver problems, neuromuscular disease, or cancer.
-The most common reason why your cat or dog is excessively cleaning the same spot could be from pain or itching caused by fleas or an allergy.
-If your pet is peeing more frequently than it used to, it can be a sign of diabetes.
-If your cat or dog starts losing hair on or around its ears, this can be a sign of fleas, ticks, ear mites, or mange.
-If your pet hasn’t touched their food for more than 24 hours, it can be a sign of stress, pain, or fever.

My Chihuahua Bruno started coughing one night and jumping around frantically. He looked scared. I went to work the next day but felt something was wrong all day. When I got home my kids said he was acting strange. Very lethargic and limp. I immediately scooped him up and took him to the vet. While I was getting him checked in blood and what looked like mucus stared pouring from his nose and mouth. They incubated him but only stayed open until 6. They said he needed round the clock care. They stayed open for us until the emergency pet hospital opened at 7. But they had to take the breathing tube out and by the time I sped to the hospital he was brain dead from losing oxygen. It completely broke me. I never liked dogs before him. He belonged to my brother but once Bruno and I laid eyes on each other we connected. He got rally depressed when my brother took him home. So my brother gave him to me. Best gift in the world! He was so tiny i could take him anywhere. At least I had him for 3 years before he died.

I have a dog named Lucky; he's 12 years old. A few years ago when he was still a puppy he was diagnosed with kidney stones. Now I know that doesn't sound that bad but one night when he was a lot older, maybe 5-6 he almost died! We were in a car rushing to the emergency room at the pet clinic. I didn't see him for hours, I was so scared he didn't make it. He survived 6 open surgeries...and I couldn't believe it. Lucky is a miracle dog!

As I recently found out through the demise of my kitty the biggest problem we have is a veterinary system that is more concerned with making money than in keeping pets healthy. In fact that's the same problem we humans have as well.

The National Razor so true....the vet scammed us out of $8,000 for surgery and our dog still passed. Now they are doping them up with pills too.

My sympathies to those who have had this problem. In my case my vets knew what medication to give my kitty and it was working. But they insisted that they had to do expensive blood tests every 6 months on the off chance that the test might show that she might need the dosage modified in 6 months or a year or three years. I couldn't afford the blood tests. So they refused her medication and she never got that 6 months or 5 years to see if it became a problem.

Mother of all evil speak of PARVO!!! We never heard of this deadly puppy disease until our puppy almost died from it. He was in ICU for days. His transformation was fur and bones. We prayed for our fur baby. Every day during breaks and after work we visited loving on him. One of the technicians said he perked up when he smelled her boiled egg. She gave him some, he held it down. GOD gave us our fur baby back not without kidney complications still we were happy to have him for the time we did. ❤️

We have an elderly cat, Bella, who is 17. About a year ago she started to act very restless, and was losing weight even though she was hungry and eating all the time. We took her to the vet and it turns out that she has hyperthyroidism, which is common in older cats. It is easily treated with daily medication.
Aside from restlessness, weight loss, and increased appetite, other symptoms can include increased thirst, increased urination, panting, and their fur may appear messy or matted. If you notice that your older cat has several of these symptoms, take them to the vet because the condition can be fatal, and if left untreated can leave your feeling very uncomfortable and even in pain.

A few weeks ago I had my friends dog stay with us, as my friend had to go to hospital because of heart problems by ambulance and has been there about 2 months so far, but her dog was healthy or I thought so, but on the fifth week, on a Tuesday about 10 pm she started having problems and by 2:20 am she was heaving to breathe. I got her and my dog Robby in the van ASAP and drove her to her own vet and got there about 7 am (live about 5 hours from my friend). When the vet tech wouldn't even see to her in the parking lot, I called my friends daughter, and as soon as Lori heard her trying to breathe, she told me to get the tech who was walking a dog into the office. I could hear Lori ask what the problem was with even seeing me and Melody? She said I wasn't the owner, to which I could hear Lori loose it and told her to go the van and listen to Melody trying to breath. Once the tech saw Melody, she saw she really needed help ASAP. Once in the office, the vet took exrays and scans and came out to me in the van and told me that she was very sick. I knew that and told her I was only looking after Melody when Lynn was in hospital, but assured her I had tried to get her medical information the first week I took Melody to look after and was told, the office couldn't tell me anything. I said to the doctor that I did my best for 4 weeks and she was healthy, but all of a sudden it came on. Robby had been licking her behind a lot and come to find out that she was really in her last hours, as she had not been "fixed" and at 14 1/2 years old, she was too old to save. She wouldn't last the day. Robby has been sad ever since, and I try to spend more time with him, but she must have come with flees and now Robby is suffering with the mess. I wonder if pets grieve as much as people? He just has not been the same since Melody didn't come home with us. I put him up on the table to see her before she was put to sleep, and he just looked and wanted off the table. He knew she was very sick and didn't want to stay with her that day. I am stumped how to help him cope.

We just lost a cat that we believe had kidney disease. We weren't sure what was going on, because he would show symptoms for a short time and then do pretty well for several weeks. Then he started losing weight. But we had just lost our Autism assistance dog and gotten a normal every day mutt for me. (I'm the dog guy, the rest of the family likes cats which I totally don't understand...) anyway, my new pup caused our cats to hide away. We kept a room vacant, just for them, and payed extra attention. But it wasn't enough as the cat's health declined. Before we knew it the poor cat lost control of its bladder. He was hunched over and was showing other signs of distressed, so I took him to the vet. We both agreed that it was time to let him go, so we had him put down. I still am angry with myself over the decision, but I can't afford to spend $1,000 or more on an animal, and we gave him a better and longer life than he would have had if we hadn't rescued him! It's hard to make that decision, but it might be the most humane thing you can do for your pet.

    • @brooke9297
      @brooke9297 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

ken cohagen I’m sorry you had to go through that- it’s so hard to make that decision. Out of curiosity, did the vet think your pet had a neuro-muscular disease? This sounds a lot like what’s going on with my elderly dog, and that’s what she’s suffering from.

Me and my wife keep very close tabs on our pets it's really easy to tell once you have them for a while you get to know what is normal for them, but if in doubt either call or take them to the vet.
Some of ours had interesting traits when they were alive, our youngest who we got at seven month's was bounced from home to home so he never knew where or if he would get food. We found he would eat then puke that was due to him eating so fast our vet said he may outgrow it no that he has a stable home but he never did he would just eat turn his head puke and carry on eating. And my cat was so lazy if you didn't fully support him he would slide right out of your arms he was beautiful just not to bright lol. They all had their own personalities and we loved them so much and still miss them. We have each one in urns so they will always be home.
Our newest kitty is 4 years old with plucking issues, he was an only kitty until his dad got together with our daughter and her kitten then they got another kitten, Tyrael didn't adjust well to this major change. They both got jobs across the Country and we took Ty so he is now an only kitty and that is how he likes it :).

I wouldn't purposely feed a dog chocolate, and I would try to keep them from even accidentally eating it (e.g. picking up chocolate chips that fell on the floor, etc), but I've found it isn't an Instant Panic Button issue like it's frequently made out to be.

With our dog, we have given her dry kibble all of her life, she just turned seven yrs old. I have learned that giving your dogs fresh vegetables and fruits with there dry kibble is good for them. So that is what we have been doing for about a year and a half now. Before that, when she would eat two times a day ( a small amount) she did great till her third year. She started throwing up periodically. The vet said give her less food, she might just have a sensitive stomach. Everything else checked out ok. As far as eating the vegetables and fruit, she absolutely loves them, blueberries being her favorite, and broccoli!! Now every time we cut up vegetables and fruit she goes crazy. This was very informative, Thank-you so very much.

Most of these health issues are possible in humans and we also seem to share symptoms. What sucks is they can't tell us flat out if they're having problems. Our dog Enzo chews on his paws and tail a lot, especially when he's inside. My dad's girlfriend thinks it's anxiety and hopefully that's all it is.

This happened to my dog, basically he was just not active for a whole day witch was strange cuz he is usually a hyper kind of dog, then he just wouldn't eat his food, then it got to the point where he would just stay in 1 area for a day. Then I took him to the vet and it was found that HIS blood numbers wasn't normal, the cause was unknown but he did need a blood transfusion, it costed so much money but if I didn't the results would be fatal, he got the transfusion and he is now on medication.
I still don't think there's a name for this disease or cause, but if you experience your dog doing this stuff take him to the vet admedeatly
Signs that will show that he has this desease/cause
    Loss of abitite
    Not moving around
These were the only signs I saw from my dog

      @grayish2145 6 ปีที่แล้ว +18

Not necessarily true. This can be a sign of issue, but not usually. The vet clinic I used to volunteer at would get calls and visits about dry noses, and most of the time it was nothing.

I used to babysit a dog named Abi. She was a pig she would eat anything, and one day she would not eat .And her owner said she was not acting right. My mom is a vet so she took her in with her, she called me that day and said it was cancer!! Later that day they told me "we are putting her to sleep" I cried. It was not my dog but I saw her a lot and I loved her very much. that was in Feb of 2015 like if that was a sad story. I still miss her.

Great info! Please edit to add ascites (fluid trapped in the belly) as a result of abdominal swelling. If a dog's belly swells to look like it is whelping, & that change happens overnight, your poor pupper may have liver disease.
Liver disease can be caused by many different things. It is always an emergency/ urgent care issue. Untreated, liver disease can significantly shorten your pet's life, because it's progressive. Your pet will need dietary support, as well as daily meds. It should NEVER be a wait & see scenario.

Eden The queen lol sounds like you’ve spoiled your dog and now she’ll only accept hand feeding haha 👸. I’ve had this problem when I take care of /train dogs- and it takes them a little while to come around to regular feeding. If this becomes an issue, or you need to go out of town, you may want to stop handfeeding her to get her used to normal meal routines before you leave (unless you can convince your parents to hand feed the pup 😁).

We just lost our 9 yr old boxer to a brain tumor. Her whole body was riddled with tumors but vet said they were not cancerous, just something that happens with boxers. So what happens? She gets one tumor that we can't see and it WAS cancerous and we had to put her to sleep. She just couldn't get up one day, wouldn't eat or drink. Then she would get up and walk a little then be down again. Broke our hearts. This was just a few months ago. So be vigilant with any tumors you see.

You know that you growing hormone cannot be affected by the effort you make, or the food you might ingest, since food will only do so much to help. The answer is in your genes and how tall you are. So look at mum and dad uf your still young and have a real life.If they are tall, then time will tell the tale.
