    Who are these adults who could go to sleep in a big flat cold empty bed with no pillows, no sheet/duvet for comfort, just laying there with nothing? Genuine question because I couldn’t so I don’t know why we would expect a baby to fall asleep with zero comforts lol.

    • @zee-zm1io

      Exactly. I’m still confused about parents who sleep all cuddled together and expect the baby to be ok sleeping alone. I mean cuddling is top tier comfort

    This just seems sick and seems to induce trauma in the nervous system...might have immediate results...but what is the long-term effect? When she addresses the criticism, she looks to the side & doesn't address it: I don't know how you would know how a baby is feeling.... I'm not sure that this is the truth...

      I totally agree! How crazy to say a baby is to be left with not even a swaddle for comfort! Does she go to bed at night with no blanket or pillow for comfort? I can't imagine treating my baby this way!

    This video is a blessing. My 5 month baby just put herself to sleep tonight for the 1st time. Gave her a bath, fed her (was falling asleep so I woke her), held her for 5 mins and put her in bed. I decided on a 10 min interval for check ups. She fell asleep after 15 mins of crying so didn't need to go in for a 2nd check up (1st check up I just placed my hand on her chest for less than 30 secs)

      I have a question, If you are sleep training the first few days and your baby wakes in the night after 4 hours of sleep and she cries for 20 min should you go in? should you let it just go because going in makes it worse and for how long? shes cried for close to an hour before. help! I understand the rest of sleep training but that part I need help on

      Jen Corin It’s hard to say exactly what to do without knowing what else is going on as far as sleep training is concerned. If baby is healthy and safe, I would allow her to fall asleep on her own after physically checking in to make sure she’s okay.

    Hmm, there’s a lot of research from paediatricians, sleep specialists, biologists, psychologists etc that prove how damaging CIO is. Just because they’re infants doesn’t mean they can’t become psychologically damaged. Being and crying for mum is instinctual. Really disappointed by how far we have come from gentle parenting.

    Till babies are two years old they meant to wake up once or twice. I don’t understand what’s the need of sleep train. Isn’t sleep mean to be a natural necessity... no baby will stay up forever, when they are tired enough they will sleep. I am a mom too, not responding to a babies need is scary to me, I want my child to be emotionally stable adult oneday, if it takes cosleeping, boob to sleep, waking up few times a night, I’d rather put up with that hard work than training em to sleep... I thought as mom attending child’s need is the norm... do not understand how many moms are in to sleep training these days...

    Please do research, cry it out is EXTREMELY detrimental to your child's physical and psychological health. As adults we search for sleeping partners, what on earth makes you think that children should be OK with sleeping on their own? Also, frequent waking is a natural defense against SIDS. The Western world has shaped us to believe that meeting our baby's needs means we're "spoiling" them. Look up save bedsharing practices if you're truly interested in safe, gentle sleep for you and your family.

    • @oliviamarieguerra3918
      @oliviamarieguerra3918 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      It seems to me that her method and what she teaches is not making your baby sleep through the entire night without waking but for them to being able to fall back asleep or just go to sleep on their own. Or just be able to figure out what comforts them without needing you to do it for them, like her ex about them being able to put the binki into their mouth on their own for comfort. I’m a FTM due any day now and have been watching tons of videos and reading articles trying to see what would I would like to try. if you have resources or articles you like on why I wouldn’t want to try the cry it out method I would love to read them!

    I sleep trained my baby at 6 months he’s now 8 months. I used this video and others to get an idea of what I needed to do. I looked at the prices of the program and was shocked with how much it cost. It’s sad to know that some families are struggling and can’t afford something like this. So I would suggest getting the book by Richard Ferber solve your child’s sleep problems

    Co sleeping isn’t bad as people make it seem like. If you’re a calm sleeper, go ahead and do it. I hardly move in my sleep and it was very convenient for me especially since I work a lot and do not want to be getting out the bed through out the night. I’ve done this with both of my kids up until 4/5 months old.

    Hi thanks for the video. I researched about the topic and found out that sleep training should be done before 8 months and after 15 months for the cosleeping babies because this is the age that they have separation anxiety. So if a baby is between 8 and 15 and cosleep, just putting them in the crib and leave the room is problematic because of that reason. I have bought Natalie’s book but I did not found a specific section for this.

    It is surprising that no questions are about nap. I think naps are very tricky. E.g., when babies are upset and ask for attention and help at night, and if you stick to the rule, he would finally fall asleep. But for nap, sometimes it means the nap is over. And the day time routine is messed up. And if they fall back into the habit of short nap, it takes much much more effort to go back to a good napper.

My baby is able to fall asleep both daytime and nighttime in his crib, with me putting a hand on his chest, or patting if necessary, and singing a specific song. CIO can harm baby and mother's bond. When the baby cries it is communicating, its the caregivers role to attend to the cry so the baby knows he/she is not alone and being cared for. CIO increases their cortisol level for days after the occurrence. They pass out from crying due to the high level of stress and basically their brain shuts down because they realize no one is coming to help them. In addition, while the baby is crying it out, the mothers cortisol level spikes, but evens off after the baby stops. Thats where the bond is harmed - mommy and baby are no longer in sync.

    @susanyara I just had my daughter month ago at first she did great through the night only waking up once or twice where now we have found out she has an allergy to dairy and soy which is making sleep harder and harder for her as she is uncomfortable and I’m changing my diet so I am still able to breastfeed her for as long as possible! I would love to try the @kytebaby sleep bag hoping it could help this mama and baby get some much needed rest!

    Great info, perfect timing. My little guy is almost 5 1/2 months old and were doing the timed check ins. 5, 10, 15 mins. The first 4ish nights were ROUGH but now he sleeps through the night and mom and dad get sleep again! Naps are a challenge for us now because hes used to sleeping on somebody.

    Wow, this woman is stressing even me out! Has she heart of all the scientific data that shows how the baby brain gets severely DAMAGED from this kind of sleep training. All anxiety and problems that it will bring on later on in the childs life. PLEASE read " What Every Parent Needs To Know" before damaging your baby with this CRAP!
    PS - Both of these ladies can use some counceling or a HUG!

    • @lestattsia9365
      @lestattsia9365 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's true that we don't exactly know how this method affects children in their after life.. I think it's dangerous and it's only beneficial for parent's calm. My baby is 3,5 month old and we can't let it cry for more than some seconds!

    • @adrianamirazchiyska6394
      @adrianamirazchiyska6394 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lestattsia9365 You're doing everything right to not let your child cry more than normal! Prolonged crying has been proven to harm the brain. The stress hormones rise too high for a childs brain system and they can't calm themselves even if they want to. They just shut down. There is a research that shows that this leads to early depression even in little children. They stop seeking interaction and become numb. Babies need love, support and care, just as we adults do :)

    Thank you so much for this video! But can anyone answer this question for me??
    If my baby is supposed to sleep for an hour but wakes up and cries after 20 minutes of napping, do you keep them crying in the crib till 1 hour hits or do you just get them because 20 min is all they can do for a nap? Thank you in advance to anyone who can answer this for me! 💖🙏

    I knew Natalie's name sounded so familiar and then I went through old emails from 7 1/2 years ago or so when the family I was nannying for with sleep training their baby and they used Natalie Willis as their sleep trainer. That is so cool to me.

    oh, come on, that coach is full of stupid nonsense. like she says, no matter what you do, one day these kids will have to learn and cry on untill getting used to. you dont need any "trainning" for that, it is just a logic sleeping development.

  • @annaschlimme5136

    A lot of this advice is great. However, you have to get a kid out of a crib if they are out of diapers. The sleep consultant left that totally out of the equation.

    I just started to teach on my own, without following any method to teach my baby to sleep. She turned 1 year old and she was still waking up every hour or 2. She wouldn’t sleep but with a bottle in her mouth, she almost never cared for pacifiers, and i am pregnant on the 8th month, so exhausting, sleep deprived for so long , i can’t carry her in my arms either.

    I happened upon this video by mistake and I just want to say I disagree with the statement of "every sleep training is some form of cry it out. I was able to get my 3 month old to sleep thru the night without crying at all. I had a later sleep training time because she was born small and the pediatrician didn't want me allowing her to sleep thru the night without waking her to feed. I essentially just weaned her off of waking thru the night and was fine. Used to put her down at 7, wake at 11, 3 and 7am. And then cut it down by one feeding each couple of days. No fighting and now she sleeps 10-11hrs a night. I stopped watching afterward because of how strongly I felt about that statement. I dont want others to feel that that's their only option.

    Thanks, this is very helpful. Just one thing struck me as very dangerous, that is advising that it is okay to let a baby under 12 months old to sleep on his stomach. According to doctors, SIDS makes up about 80% of sudden and unexpected infant deaths (SUIDs), and is often linked to babies sleeping on their side or stomach. Maybe this should have been mentioned as a reason why not to let the baby sleep in that position?

    Thankyou. This is very useful. Just a bit of constructive feedback. I think the background music made it very hard for me to understand what she is saying (on low volume) because of the background music. Also she speaks little fast I find it hard to follow. Apart from that thanks a lot for your time and efforts xx
