    One point about paying for the date. This is because as a British guy it's seen as forward or patronising to assume the woman will be happy to let you pay for her - as payment might be seen as seeking to impose some sort of obligation on her.Similarly a British woman doesn't want to be seen as expecting a man to pay. So a British date will often involve a little 'dance' when the bill comes like this: The man offers to pay. The woman offers to split the bill. The man politely insists. The woman accepts his kind offer (or alternatively can insist on splitting if she is so minded). Honour satisfied all round.

      Yup! Sometimes you get extreme stuff like the woman secretly pays the bill while you're going to the toilet ("using the restroom" to US readers) :p - I've learned to watch out for that one!

    Approach a man 😶. Personally I do it like this. You see a guy staring at you (means he likes you), decide if you fancy him, if so smile briefly at him like this 😏 & go back to what you were doing. Eventually he’ll come over & say hi, then you say hi. Don’t be thirsty, just friendly & polite. Ok hope that helped. I only split the bill if I go on a date & decide I don’t like the guy or I’m undecided. If I like him & the chemistry is good I’ll let him pay. But it’s just basic manners to offer to split the bill.

      This is untrue just like many LA stereotypes. Born and raised in LA, and the ones that act weird are actually the transplants that move here for the Hollywood scene. I went to a state university in the SoCal area. And maybe it’s a different time but back then, after college , many friends I know got married(met their future husband/future wives at the university. This was during the mid-1990s. ). And they’re still together to this day!

    I met a British man who was well traveled and communicative. He straight up approached me and asked me for my number and we hit it off quite nicely. He said he loved my U.S. accent and he also knew a lot about American culture but was still down to earth and modest unlike a lot of American men. I liked him a lot.

    Something I noticed about flirting in particular is that I like the way English boys flirt better than American guys. It’s very different, American guys tend to be very complimentary and sweet, but sensitive. English guys tend to tease and enjoy good banter, everything is more light hearted and not meant to be taken that seriously. That’s why I like it. By the way, I’m not saying American guys are bad at flirting, it’s just a different style

    It's funny, because the Brits are very promiscuous! Sex is not a big deal and this whole "don't kiss on the first date thing" is not an issue here. They're a lot more liberal than Americans. I'm from the Netherlands by the way and I've lived in both countries. I'm biracial too and it's not unusual in the Netherlands either.

    This literally came up in my feed today , years later. But I wanted to comment my own experiences 😊. 100% agree and I think all the women in the US can agree that men here are very confident to approach women and sometimes it’s not subtle at all. Whether in college, at work, the grocery store, just touring around a city if you’re by yourself, at the mall, etc, there’s no problem with American guys approaching women even without dating apps lol. Although I’m glad my future husband did the first approaching (I was so oblivious at the time of our first meeting, and we now have 2 beautiful children. 😊) . On the other side of the spectrum, My observations when visiting London in the early 2000s(and who knows it could change now), the guys are more subtle but it’s the eye contact and how you react to that eye contact in a way, that determines if you get chatted up or not(fyi to the Californians who literally smile at everything not knowing what to think lol) . It’s just about cultural differences between the 2 , I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way, it’s just how it is. I think these days though there’s definitely more trans-Atlantic relationships than there were before as more younger people are traveling more.

    If you think London is like that for hook up culture, somewhere like Sweden is like that x10. I won't approach anyone without any contact or signs. Not necessarily out of fear. I just can't see any point. Why would I approach someone just based on looks. So I'd look for eye contact and if that was good and strong enough I would approach. Your own eye contact and facial expressiveness with the camera is amazing. If that was aimed strongly at me and I felt the connection I would have no choice but to approach

  • @Travigameis
    @Travigameis 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    6:55 I'm assuming you just meant if a girl isn't comfortable paying the whole bill. Any date (male or female) that *expects* you to pay for them is hella entitled. I'm all for treating eachother to things but if a girl told me she "wasn't comfortable" splitting the bill and thought I should pay because of my gender then I'm sure as hell not thinking of her as a strong or independent woman at all.

    • @ThePrettyeyes341
      @ThePrettyeyes341 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Travalon that's YOUR culture. In the U.S if a guy asks a woman out , it's understood that he is paying. It has very little to do with gender. If you don't want to pay then don't ask anyone out in the U.S. That is OUR culture. Once in a while you will find a woman who will split the check but that usually means she doesn't like you, you're in the friends zone, or she feels like you are coming on too strong and expecting something(sex) so she will pay HER half and bid you farewell. Kiss of death.

    • @Travigameis
      @Travigameis 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If something is 100% dependant on your gender, then you can't really say it has very little to do with gender. Pretty much any sexist attitude, regardless of whom they affect, can be called "culture" through a certain lens. But the idea that someone should behave a certain way just because they're male or female is wholly incompatible with the concept of gender equality.

    • @ThePrettyeyes341
      @ThePrettyeyes341 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Travalon what the hell are you talking about? Whomever asks someone on a date PAYS. If a man asks a woman out in the U.S it's understood that HE is paying. It has NOTHING to with gender, he asked he pays bottom line. If you don't like that then don't ask anyone out in the U.S.

      There is singers and actors from England that can do an American accent very well granted they can be doing it only for money.
      All accents are not equal though from both countries.
      Some accents from England I really like and others I wouldnt go out of my way to be in a romantic relationship with a female with an accent from a part I didnt care about or like.I say that based on the accent and dialect not anything against that part of England or them on a personal level.
      The American standard accent which I would call a general California accent in other states they do not have the same accent and it is unlikely even you would view them exactly the same.

    Men split bill with women 50/50 in London? Can someone reply me?

    • @palsos123

      I'm from London and it really depends on the individual. Me and most guys I know will always pay on the first couple of dates. However, I have met guys who always make the woman pay half. This can be for various reasons e.g. they've been on many dates before where they have paid for everything but things never seem to progress past that first date or the women never answer his calls ever again. This leads to a feeling of frustration where he feels like he is waisting money. It can also be because we are living in times where women always brag about being independent and not needing a man. Women nowadays go to work, have careers and sometimes even out earn men. So some men feel that in this day and age it is only fair that the bill should be split 50/50.

      Jason Nerves I’m speaking from my experience and the experience of people I know so it’s not total nonsense. Of course it’s a generalisation but that’s what I observed. Thanks for watching!

    I've been in London for four years and I really miss sweet small-town American guys. I am a city girl who likes country boys XD. How can I meet some fellow Americans in the big city?

    • @DawnWilsonVideos
      @DawnWilsonVideos  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a great question. One way you can try is meetup.com. They have meet up groups for Americans. Also, just chat with people while you’re out and about especially having after work drinks. There are more Americans around than you think!
