Cant y'all like, do it online cuz that's what students did during the pandemic. AND you can explain you situation in the essays. Colleges judge on the basis of how you utilised the EXSISTING resources. like, how you make the best out of what you have available. Plus, internet is a wide space.

I feel like common app wasn’t as talked about back when I was in high school. I’ll be graduating university this year public universities are still great options. If you weren’t involved in lots of extra circulars or did much community service. You can still get into public universities if you don’t get accepted to big schools/want other options

I applied to two universities for graduate school: Stanford and Brown. I got both of them and graduated from Stanford. I guess you could say that I was backup school averse.
Don't even know why I watch these videos as an Aussie. All I had to do is apply (as in, click a button) with my top 5 universities and potential degrees I'd want to do (I could change this one I got in) and would be given offers a few months later in order of my preferences. You normally don't need any extra curricular activities, leadership positions or essays to apply, it is just based on how well you did academically (in most parts of Australia this is called an ATAR). You're basically guaranteed a spot if your ATAR is above their entrance requirements (very achievable for most degrees), with slight variations between universities based on demand (usually for universities in big cities, not because of prestige). We even have a thing called "school's recommendation" which is just a letter from your school saying you got a C average and can get you into most universities (still quality school) for degrees like teaching, arts, or humanities, allowing people who aren't as academically gifted to go to uni. I am so lucky that I get to attend a top university (currently #34 world wide) without the stress of college applications and fees that could put me into debt. Either way, I think the US college application system encourages a lot of people to branch out of their comfort zones and push themselves to their full potential and am very impressed by Millie that she was able to get into so many great schools. I would have bet you were headed to Yale based on the acceptance video. I still think its funny to think about the Stanford admissions folks being all confused. "This is a decline letter. She's not coming. What do we do with them? Where do they go? Anyone?" Have a great year.
When I started high school, I really wanted to go to an Ivy or top school. My freshman year I started off strong with straight A’s. And I had a good first half of sophomore year on the cusp of another straight A year and then fell off. The same happened with junior year, started strong with almost all A’s only to fall off. I’ve struggled with mental health, dealt with other issues, and an extremely hard math class junior year. I’m not trying to play a sympathy game here but I’m so nervous going to the college process cuz my weighted gpa is a 3.83 and my unweighted is an abysmal 3.5. Anything I can do to help myself? I’m studying hard for the ACT and SAT(third time), and really want to have a perfect senior year!
@@aar2014 My state school is UMass Amherst. I did apply and get in. I’ve gotten into lots of good schools in this process including URochester, Northeastern, RPI, WPI, UConn, Rutgers, Drexel, and Temple. I am also maintaining nearly straight A’s in 4 AP’s. I went test optional in this process.

I am an international student studying in China (I'm Korean but I've studied in international school in China for two and a half years haha) Your videos are so helpful for me, a junior in high school who is almost obssessed with Yale 😂 But I'm worrying that my APs and ec are not really enough (actually too less) I got two 5 so far and planning to take 4 more APs in 11th grade and 3 more in 12th grade. I'm interested in English speech and organizing activities (I only got few things to show though) I know every person has different path and characteristic, but I am still worried about them. Besides, keeping balance between ec and study is difficult too :( I only got half year to do something and recently I started to doubt myself whether I can really get into Ivy or not...(I watched all the ec you did in high school and those are awsome!! It's unbelieveable that you did all of them while having a good grade!!) Should I prioritize Ap and sat more for the rest of the time? Do you think it is possbile to have few ec and get into Ivy..? It will be great to have your response and I hope I'm not taking up your time! Oh btw happy new year✨️
Even if you don’t get into Yale or other ivy leagues that’s okay their are spots guaranteed for children of alumni which takes away spots from hardworking students. Ivy League is overrated and way too expensive for some any university would be happy to have a hard working student
as someone who also grew up in the Asian community, I know most people determine their self-worth with their achievements, success, jobs, colleges,etc. due to the heavyweight of people of Asia’s fast moving society (and I’m not saying this only happens there , it’s just more common and more normal there :))However,your worth is not determined by success in life . Keep on working hard and I believe you can do it!!!加油❤

Don't worry, middle school doesn't matter and do whatever you want, in highschool is when you should lock in so don't burn yourself out before you get to hs, live your life and have fun while you're still young

I just got into high school (9th grade) and everybody and their moms are telling me to start thinking about college, it's soooo stressful, I'm even more burdened since my sister got into a high class institute with a scholarship and everyone expects the same from me, believe it or not, I've already started to look up cambridge applications and scholarships 😭😭

I have leadership positions in a large variety of clubs and councils that I'm passionate about, but I don't know how I'm going to make them all interconnected on my commonapp! president of french club, secretary of environmental club, cross country runner, (very bad) piano player, national qualifier for speech & debate, and school rep for a youth council, doesn't really scream somebody interested in pursuing english as an undergrad, and then law school

Both are just as important, stats are the threshold and ECs give you the better chance to stand out. Regarding how many APs, for a competitive school like Yale you should be taking the most amount possible in your school, as you'll be compared with your fellow classmates so you need to take the most rigourous schedule possible. Speak with your guidance counselor and they should be able to tell you the exact amount
Hi. Do you think I can get into UC Berkeley and Princeton? I go to a school that does competency based narrative grades. I'm supposed to be graduating by June of next year. Also I have lots of extracurriculars that are very unique and not so common. Like I'm on the envirothon team, am on the student leadership team, I did a summer trauma program at new york Presbyterian, and also am doing a summer neuroscience research program at rockefeller university. Additionally, for my junior year I'm doing a college algebra course at my school in association with howard university, a college environmental science course in association with UCSD, and this summer I'm taking hunter college now classes.
hiii so im an international student and i study with the cambridge gcse and alevels system. we have no concept of ap classes over here, so i ws js curious if theres like a substitute for that for me? or if its just unrelated to me and my system nd i dont need to add anything related to that in my application.
you won't be punished for not taking ap classes if that's not possible for you. your application is compared to other students' in a similar position to you (so no aps) and as an international student you're basically compared with others in your country, so as long as you take the most advanced/competitive classes you'll stand out and be fine

You could take dual enrollment, id recommend it over APs because if you pass the course you're guaranteed the college credit whereas AP classes your credit is based off of one exam
Don't say that, if you *really* wanna get into you dream college/uni, then you'll definitely take action on it, it's not as complicated as they make it seem, just pay attention in class, go over your notes every now and then, participate in extra curriculars and practically any uni as good as Berkley or Standord will be ready to accept you!! Just stay positive!!
yes ap classes r essential for college applications, but they can be supplemented by IB's. AP tests can be taken regardless of if u took the class or not, and regardless of what country u are in (correct me if im wrong). as for specific programs I cant say, as im a student in the usa, hope this helped :)

Don't even know why I watch these videos as an Aussie. Both are just as important, stats are the threshold and ECs give you the better chance to stand out. Regarding how many APs, for a competitive school like Yale you should be taking the most amount possible in your school, as you'll be compared with your fellow classmates so you need to take the most rigourous schedule possible. Speak with your guidance counselor and they should be able to tell you the exact amount

Hi. Do you think I can get into UC Berkeley and Princeton? I go to a school that does competency based narrative grades. I'm supposed to be graduating by June of next year. Also I have lots of extracurriculars that are very unique and not so common. Like I'm on the envirothon team, am on the student leadership team, I did a summer trauma program at new york Presbyterian, and also am doing a summer neuroscience research program at rockefeller university. Additionally, for my junior year I'm doing a college algebra course at my school in association with howard university, a college environmental science course in association with UCSD, and this summer I'm taking hunter college now classes.

hiii so im an international student and i study with the cambridge gcse and alevels system. we have no concept of ap classes over here, so i ws js curious if theres like a substitute for that for me? or if its just unrelated to me and my system nd i dont need to add anything related to that in my application.
you won't be punished for not taking ap classes if that's not possible for you. your application is compared to other students' in a similar position to you (so no aps) and as an international student you're basically compared with others in your country, so as long as you take the most advanced/competitive classes you'll stand out and be fine

You could take dual enrollment, id recommend it over APs because if you pass the course you're guaranteed the college credit whereas AP classes your credit is based off of one exam
If your school doesn't have APs then you don't have to take them. You won't be punished for that

Don't say that, if you *really* wanna get into you dream college/uni, then you'll definitely take action on it, it's not as complicated as they make it seem, just pay attention in class, go over your notes every now and then, participate in extra curriculars and practically any uni as good as Berkley or Standord will be ready to accept you!! Just stay positive!!

yes ap classes r essential for college applications, but they can be supplemented by IB's. AP tests can be taken regardless of if u took the class or not, and regardless of what country u are in (correct me if im wrong). as for specific programs I cant say, as im a student in the usa, hope this helped :)
