- Watch me, cry, laugh, and scream as I open 8 college decisions (all top 20 schools with no safeties...) that were the blood, sweat, and tears of my senior year of high school. You are the first applicant to withdraw their application out of consideration for other applicants. My son's school has a moto, non sibi (not for self), and it is an unwritten rule that if you are accepted early to a school with a 10% or less acceptance rate, you will matriculate. My son got into Harvard in December and immediately pulled his Michigan application so he wouldn't get in the way of his classmates and other applicants. With the increasing competitiveness of each admission cycle, I wish more students had your character. People applying to Ivies and T20 schools usually have an idea of where they want to go...I see it as clout chasing when they apply to schools just to see if they can get in. Indeed, this is a stupid competition and a complete waste of time that speaks poorly of the applicants when you think about the general motivation. However, it should also be noted that essentially guaranteeing a matriculation is also pathetic- you generally know in the first two years if you can hack it. If you can’t, then the university should be steering you to a less challenging program and , eventually if necessary, less challenging universities (of course, they provide all of the available resources, but at some point, they need to cut the proverbial umbilical cord) . It’s a business though and bad look if a large percentage of enrolled students don’t matriculate. Ultimately, it’s a selfish move by the university and a detriment of the future work force. As someone who has to hire and train these so-called highly educated students, I can tell you, the universities that are simply allowing them to graduate are the absolute worst offenders.

that was awessome. I remember i got in to Stanford. Stanford told my college admissions officer first and he came to the library and fetched me. I was speechless; i never thought they woudl admit me. My flight to Stanford was the second time in my lifetime that I flew on an airplane.
These videos inspire me so much to study hard and keep me motivated so i can go too my dream school and make my mum proud after all she has done for me, thank you for uploading these even though these are stressful moments you want to celebrate just with you and your family/friends.

Withdrawing your application is actually such a nice gesture and really shows that you deserved Stanford and Berkeley, I know so many people who’ve gotten into elite schools and are committed yet leave their applications just so they could get a little ego boost when the acceptance letter comes

That really shows you how subjective some of these admissions can be, USC’s admission rate for fall 2023 is 9.9% while Stanford and others is around 4% or less.
