a coworker showed me KA just before we all lost our jobs due to COVID (I was a stagehand in Austin TX) and his music got me through my homelessness, so lucky to have stumbled upon his music it’s truly so good, pure art
Rest in peace. Sad to hear of his passing. This interview sticks with me so much. To be a middle class working person in society and also a talented creative really inspires me to stick with it. Keep at the craft.
Ka: “You ever like, have an artist that you like, and then you see the interview? And you’re like, ‘Damn, I like them even more now!’ Because you learned something else about the artist. That’s part of being real. Like, that person’s a nice dude. Make you root for them even more. I think it’s the genuineness of it. You know.” How meta!
When I recieved the news today my heart just sunk. We loss a true artist that made a true contribution to the CULTURE. Rest In Power my friend my brother KA. Thank you for our brotherhood. I'm going to miss talking hip hop and New York Knicks Basketball with you brother. Your last words to me was " We Got Karl Anthony Towns". You are a real one. Rest easy.😢
Rest In Peace Brownsville KA. I listened to Grief Pedigree around the time it dropped and I remember feeling like you were cut from a different material. You changed so many lives with your music and gave back to your community. You enhanced the culture and you’ll be studied for generations to come. Much love
Ka is such a realistic great role model for an artist. He's not the natural prodigy like a Nas, a Mozart, Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson. Ka worked hard and grew into the respected talented artist he is currently and wasn't always that way. It's a great juxtaposition to the stereotypical spotlight talent.
this is so fucking honest i like him 100x more now. never knew he’d be this introverted lmao “i don’t wanna annotate my rhymes because you might hear something that’s dope to you and i don’t wanna fuck it up by saying this is what i said” spottt onnnnnnnnn
I hate that they cut out the music clips now, heavily takes away from the vibe and pacing of the lecture. It was great when we got to watch DOOM sit and listen to his own shit with everyone else. Its not like any of these songs can't be easily found on youtube in much higher quality. EDIT: wow "alright lets set the tone with this video" and y'all cut it??? maaaaaan yall on point with the guests and the whole joint but yalli playing with the broadcasting now
@@chosenonebeats exactly. It's too risky leaving it in there knowing youtube will take it down or not allow you to monetize it. I opened a separate window and just pulled up the songs in as I listened along.
Roots... For realLLLL' thO'! .. A1 interview,... cool artist. Been had my ear to Ka'..since Reloaded' with Roc.. so A1 on that. And, the host of the show is A1.. great questions,... the whole vibration was dope, and that audience was a 'funky bunch'. If the viewers could of just seen the videos as well ..would of just been the cherry on top'. Much respect, Nacho from the 9one6
Damn KA fighting flames for pay and spiting flames for fun how ironic! This artist is too real, I connect his words and stories in this interview to all the projects I’ve heard him on. Emotionally and logically. I think it’s a shame that this level of authenticity isn’t appreciated more widely in the game. Much respect from Sweden
KA's music is an inspiration to all real writers, street poets and hiphop heads...just aiming to master his pen, fuck money and the cares of men. His life is a testimony that hard work will eventually get you what you deserve even if it's 20 years after trying
i remember aesop rock shouting him out back in 11 after he was releasing the grief pedigree videos. dude is one of the best lyricist ive ever heard. add on to that his beats and cinematography is aon point
From cali. I barely found out about roc Marci 3 yrs ago. Slow mellow flows. Changing rap. And then i found ka. And theyre tied for my favorite at this moment. I gotta admit idk if anyone better then those two.
He was already one of my favorite artists and I didn't think I could like him any more. This interview proved me wrong. Such an unreal artist, but an even greater person.
Extremely rare to be able to not compromise your art for the bag 💰 .......I knew he was a working man by just listening to his album. Pure art.....no filter. The album is "Descendants of Cain".....I stumbled on it on Amazon music. What a blessing
when i first copped grief pedigree i had no idea what to expect...since then hes been putting out banger after banger i put all my boys up on his music...
It brings tears of joy after grief that death must meet us in that final hour and I’m glad Ka has now met the greatest part of life which is found in the end But down here on earth in some dark hours , I’ll miss Ka. Because your writing was never a pen wasted.
REST IN POWER, KA 👑 Truly one of the greatest to ever do it, I'm so grateful that he gave us so much incredible art in his tragically short lifetime & that he set the standard so high. May his legacy echo for all eternity & continue to inspire countless generations of writers, poets & rappers.
in these days of rapidly changing trends and flash in the pan music careers.. plus the hyper-focus on youth and newness.. as an independent artist that has been making music on the side while trying to live a balanced life and hold down steady work for over 20 years... the slow burn persistence of an artist like KA is profoundly inspiring.
“You ever have a artist that you like and you see the interview and you be like damn I like em even more now” Literally what’s happening right now as I’m watching this
This interview is just as enveloping now as it was when I first watched it years ago! Ka was a captivating cat! Captain of everything he stepped foot in! Carried the weight of each career choice on his shoulders like a true champion! His music wasn't for instant gratification and he truly poured a lot of time, energy, patience, wisdom, virtue, and craftsmanship into it! He had a way with words that I have never heard before. His music has got me through so many rough times and I hope he had someone to listen to that did the same for him.
Sad I literally just heard of him a like a day or so before he passed and I was amazed cus this the type of music I been lookin for for so long. Sad to hear he left this plane. Rip and thank you 🙏🏿
Truly awesome interview. Speaks to me so much as a late blooming reggae artist. I especially like the line about no one wanting to listen to a 20 year old blues player. I've been singing some of my songs for more than two decades, and I'm finally understanding what some of what I'm saying really means.
This man should be more recognized and should be on the list for greatest rappers of all time. He is quite an addicting rapper and I can't stop listening to him because what he speaks he's always real and makes sense! Super DUPER underrated, but are you still undefeated!
This I always liked Ka’s verses on Roc’s tracks and just recently dove head first into Ka’s catalog. Instantly fell in love with his music only to see he passed over the weekend. Rest in peace to Ka, you will live forever and thank you for contributing your heart and talent to hip-hop culture. I will keep playing your catalog.
