I love the irony of DOOM's justification of the mask. He wore the mask so that people would focus more on the music, and inadvertently created one of the most iconic images in underground hip hop.
Daft Punk sorta did the same thing.
And the irony of DOOM being a supervillain, but in reality he is humble and shows humility
I had the same thought.
That’s not irony.

@Gaster Grows nobody said he was the greatest person it's like you're fishing to hate lol
Out of all of the tracks the dude can play, he played the track with the longest intro lmao.
I think it's a good track to start out with honestly. Dude said he wanted to play an examle for people who may not be so familiar with DOOM and a great way to show people how crazy he is as not only a lyricist but also as a producer is to show them a track like Beef Rap where the whole intro is comprised of tons of different samples that all pertain to food and tell a story, or give a bit of information on DOOM himself. It demonstrates all the skills of DOOM amazingly.
I disagree. It looked like DOOM did too from the look he gave like "really, this one?". I am a huge DOOM fan and I always skip that intro. I understand playing the song, but as the FIRST ONE I'm sure a lot of people were confused.
tehgreatist its cool you don't have to appreciate all of his talents
there is a big difference between appreciating his talent and listening to a 2 minute intro every time you wanna hear a song
😂😂😂😂 this is the album you play to “introduce” doom to people who wouldn’t really LISTEN to doom
The best part of this is that when we look at Doom we don't even see him wearing a mask, it's just like it's a part of him like that's normal, like that's his actual face.

Lol that awkward moment as they wait for the skit on Beef Rapp to finish.
+Pete Rock and JB Smoove I laughed at the fact he played that track too. That track with that skit at the start is meant to introduce an album, instead of playing something shorter as a sampler, he had doom kind of awkwardly sit there through the 5 minute track just looking at a room full of white people awkwardly bobbing their heads to a song being played off itunes like it was some kind of live set.

I’m one of those people who hate when a rapper dies and everyone starts calling them a legend but DOOM was a legend for sure no doubt about it. I don’t think there’s ever been a more genius rapper.
I mean people call him a legend before he died
Same, but DOOM was one of those rare rappers that everyone who listened to him passionately before he passed, knew he was a legend. He was your favorite rappers favorite rapper 9 times out of 10.
no doubt about it if you’re bout it bout or rowdy rowdy?
Anybody is a legend if they could get Ghostface's interest after hearing one song from him, knowing how evident perfectionism was the Ghostface back then given he had like a decade and a half stretch of 90% amazing albums
I found DOOM like 3 weeks ago and I’ve listened to about every album at least 5 times he’s definitely a legend
Pretty awesome if you watch at 4:40 you can see Doom's fingers moving in the pattern that is synonymous with the MPC pads for the drums on the track. dope.

It’s not your friends that are idiots, DOOM’s music, even if I personally value him as one of the best musician of this period of history, is kinda hard to get into.
He doesn’t quite follow classic song structures, he experiments a lot with sonority, he adds voluntary crispiness and lofi style to his sound, he adds shit tons of obscure radio/cartoon/movie samples here and there and his overall discography doesn’t contain much “bangers” or just tracks with pop appeal.
I guess if you’re not that much passionate about music and that it’s just something you listen for fun and entertainment it’s not for you. But everyone has their own point of interests.
Could also simply be that your friends are young, and that they don’t want to try out new types of music for now, but maybe they’ll do later

Returning to this after news of Viktors passing, rest in power DOOM.
Didn't find out about doom until he died now he's my favorite rapper...I'm mad at myself for not knowing about him early in his career😢
"Just remember all caps when you spell the man name" - MF DOOM
Me same here, just know who MF DOOM was for 2 days ago 😭 I am super late of course I also feel ashamed for discover any genius artist after they dead 💔
RIP the Mozart of hiphop MF DOOM, legend never die 🕊
all caps when you spell the mans name
This hits heavy, makes me tear up: 1:38:48 RIP DOOM!!!!
Just found out that MF DOOM has passed, R.I.P to “your favorite rappers rapper” 🕊
To me it ain’t Halloween no more, its DOOMSDAY
Dont celebrate the day of his death. His birthday is January 9th. That's DOOMSDAY.
@@garrettlavallee5938 got it.
Blood sacrificed MF Doom put that on TH-cam he a sell out.
Garrett Lavallee nah doomsday isn't about his birthday
@@garrettlavallee5938 exactly! same day as mine and my homievmarvin who died a few years ago 🙏🏻
Mm Food is one of those albums where you get nervous because you don't know if the people you're playing around will like it but when you have time break down the lyrics and appreciate the flow its insanely good
I’ve heard stories of the one they call DOOM for the past 15 or so years (I’m 22) only as of yesterday I decided to listen to this Madvillain and I don’t regret this at all!!! MF DOOM is the goat
What stories have you heard..??
doom is soooo underated compared to other artists from new york! Every kid knows who jay z is. This is hip hop. operation doomsday should be recognized as the best album ever.
jay made a bigger impact in popular hip hop culture, why do you expect any different
+Harrison Brand publicly maybe that's how it's seems but that's not strictly true! Doom has had a lot more to do with the entire music industry than most people realise! Jay z is responsible for countless bullshit gun gun money money bitches emcees! Mf doom makes the freshest hip hop albums! Freshest ryhmes and beats in the game! He's should have the recognition that Kanye west has and more importantly he ain't an arrogant prick! He's in the background like a real boss! Your favourite rappers rapper
+William Sulman i prefer doom absolutely im just saying in general whoever is making most pop/headlines will come out on top in the public eye.
+Harrison Brand sorry I maybe got a bit excited, and yeah that's correct obviously. Respect brother
underrated isn't the same as unknown though
Literally had a room of hiphop enthusiasts and backpackers. Watchin the suits nod like its Shakespeare speaks alot to his words and rhyme schemes. Long Live Viktor Vaughn
Viktor Vaughn is one of his alias's too btw, his real name is Daniel Dumile Thompson if I know correctly
Randomly started rewatching this at midnight. Turns out, it‘s his birthday. #DOOMFOREVER
his birthday is in July?
@@mollywarhol5826 Premier posted his real birthday after my comment was made
Had to come back to hear DOOM's words of wisdom. RIP MADVILLIAN
19:28 "Spit so many verses sometimes my jaw twitches."
One thing this party could use is some more...
Booze 😉
R.I.P. to my favorite rapper ever. can’t tell him how much he meant to me and how much this interview helped me as someone who wants to become a music artist.
I see SGP as your pic too
@@wearenotthasame yes. another GOAT that has inspired me. thanks for noticing that. you a real one 💯💯.
