Red Rose Tries Banana For The First Time

To my ongoing surprise, Deb rescued another Little Red yesterday and Miss Rose was found hanging on a fence near an underground car park.
Little Reds usually leave our area around March each year but there is clearly a small colony of them around probably roosting on one of the off shore islands.
Miss Rose as she was named by the members of the public who found her has some minor wing injuries as well as being dehydrated and very underweight.
I'm not sure Rose had ever met a banana before but she will become well acquainted with them in care before she is released back to the wild next summer when the Reds once more return to our area. BatzillatheBat/
i like the way she eats that banana like she’s trying to kill it and make sure it’s dead before she even thinks about chewing

Blood Beryl woah are you getting mad at Misslily? Cause they are only reiterating what was said in the video about how rose was found. And as for people getting scared of bats, it’s understandable. At least in my country, bats can be one of the biggest carriers of rabies, so being cautious around them is a good thing. I own pet rats, that doesn’t mean if I found a wild one I wouldn’t be slightly concerned and cautious.

@@foragingadventures we've all got...MISOPHONIA... 😂😂😂 seems perfectly normal to me. I get enraged if people are making licking sounds, that's the noise that really makes me feel irritated and sick! Or if they drop down to a whisper for no understandable reason! How people are calmed by ASMR whispering I don't know! It makes me wanna shake them and yell "speak normally" 😘

I so can't believe how addicted i've become to cute animal vids. Started with the usual puppies and kittens...then goats....then all kinds of wild animal rescue vids. if there is one species i'd never have guessed i'd like, it's bats! But Miss Rose is adorable! so thanks for broadening my horizons. (and i do realize the true animal lovers don't give such weight to cuteness.)

I never realized that this is what a bats face looks like. Why do people always illustrate them looking mean,toothy,and vicious??? This thing looks like a little puppy with wings!!! It's adorable!!! Thank you for the enlightenment and the ending of my fear of this type of animal. Of course I realize wild animals are best left alone however I now know that if I ever encountered 1 in trouble I shouldn't be quite so fearful. It's just adorable. Bless u for what u do also. I'm certain you've had to go through some medical stuff and certifications to do rescue work. It takes a special person to be selfless like this. You're clearly very special.

The poor thing looks a bit freaked out but that’s probably just a bad interpretation of her quickly moving her head and sort of shaking about after biting the banana. I’m glad she got to be under your care so her injuries and such could be taken care of by nice people!

Do you roll them up when you feed them because it gives them security? Bats are so adorable
In this case, as old as the bat is (a wild, 1 year old, rescued), this is probably so they don't flap and scratch the carer, & try to get loose.

The babies are always wrapped with mom’s wings. They stay close to mom’s body. Babies feel protected and safe when rolled with a a piece of cloth.
