Sounds like it has most of the same problems in daily driving as my standard M4 but with a nicer bonnet and prettier rear lights. Maybe the advantages of the CS are purely track based which makes this a very expensive track toy. Looks awesome but then so do all M4's. Great review and nice editing!
Thank you Joe!!! People never talk about what happens when those brakes get wet! It is very dangerous and i think manufacturers should inform and educate their consumers about this issue!
Who needs watered down car content like top gear, grand tour, when you can get videos like this! 20mins of detailed information and great creative content!!
Haha cheers man! Considering I do everything myself on a relative shoe string budget, it does make you wonder... That's not meant to sound big headed, just wish I had 1% of Top Gear budget 😂👌
Love the intro, love the roads, love the car, but most of all I appreciate the honest and down to earth opinions. You simply don't get that on many other channels. Great stuff Joe!
Joe Ur so flipping good at reviewing cars without sounding boring unlike some so called motoring journalists... Ur enthusiasm and level detail u go into describing a car feels to drive is almost Chris Harris like!... Keep at it!...EVO pls hire Joe!
Great review, well out of my price range but one can dream, so good to see a car from one of these channels being driven out on proper roads rather than messing about at 20 mph in London or like you say, constantly being wrapped 💤💤... I go down there on the bike every summer, all over, Alps, Pyrenees, Norway ... Spain ... fantastic roads all over 👍🏼
love your reviews Joe. Your enthusiasm for the M'lites encouraged me to go for a M140 shadow, which I took delivery of last week and it's best car I've ever had
great video Joe, best one I've seen on you tube TBPH really informative have even made notes as im getting a CS same colour next week !!!! way hey !! clearly bought the right m car then !!!.
The brake problem you mentioned is interesting, I am amazed that it's there. Most cars, at least all VAG models, have an automatic brake drying function which works like this: whenever the wipers are activated, the car "knows" that it's raining and will then apply the brakes very shortly, just to wipe of the excess water from the discs. The brakes pressure applied is so light that you can't notice it but it works perfectly, keeping the brakes in good working order, ready to bite. With VCDS (used to be VAGcom) you can actually modify the rain auto-wiping function, more or less agressive or switch it off all together (I have played with it on my Mk7 GTI). I can not imagine that this M4 - or actually any BMW - does not have this functionality! Specifically as this is a major safety concern, BMW would not just allow it as any braking accident in the rain could potentially backfire...
Sounds great in reality, but the two worse recent experiences I've had is with a 2018 C7 RS6 and a 2019 R8. Guess nothing is as consistent as steel brakes in mixed weather, hence Moto GP bikes running steels in wet weather
Nice video Joe. Glad you finally got a press car from them! Even with discounts, the CS is punching a bit above its weight and actually loses the reason I bought mine - I wanted creature comforts for daily driving yet still have ability to play on track. Interestingly 437M's with Cup 2's have been up at £3k new at dealers in recent months (still some available - bargain). Better use of dosh would be to buy an M4 CP (personally I'd have an M3), change suspension for decent coilovers, put 437M's on and save yourself a packet. Still have plenty of change for a decent map (where you can make the torque more progressive). Interesting on/off comments on MDM. I've updated mine to M4 GTS MDM/Diff and it's hugely more consistent (albeit definitely not for beginners as vastly more slip all the time). Anyway, look forward to next video!
I'm seriously late to this video Joe but had to say your review was great as usual. 👍 👍👍 That looks like a real M car should: tough and lustworthy. Those roads look epic too Joe and I'm sure you loved every minute of that review.
That moment when you're waiting for Joe's videos just like I used to when Chris Harris would get a new one out before he joined Top Gear. Just mega, Joe, cheers!
Agree with you about the tires. This car was engineered around the cup 2s so it’s a shame they didn’t throw them on for you. But you were driving in a colder climate. Drive when the tarmac is hot and it’s easier to get the rubber stickier. You gotta drive that thing really hard to warm the tires up enough in that chilly weather.
Another great video Joe - Very nicely done and well worth the trip to the Alps I'd say! Looks like a serious bit of kit and like you say I can imagine when pushing on it's well worth the premium over the M4 Comp Pack. Is great to see you finally getting a BMW press car too.
Shane it's amazing to me that ceramic brakes have become diseriable on a road car...they don't stop you any quicker for one, and in conditions where you really want your brakes to work, ie first thing on a cold morning, they are left wanting compared to steel brakes...
Classy video joe, as always, I know you spend hours editing to get things just right and it shows. I love the other youtuber digs in their for good measure a bit of attitude never goes a miss being a no nonsense yorkshire man myself , cannot wait for the next one . All the best from ian.
super vid Mr BMW😉....at least you earned this press car Joe & I'm sure there will be plenty more. Like the drone work & the different camera angles/views...lot of work gone into this vid👌👏
Good review Joe, digging the birds chirping to start things off. In car audio could have been a bit cleaner. Just had an M4 in the Alps 2 weeks ago myself! So much fun, videos coming soon! Your video really took me back!
Absolutely brilliant production value Joe. You’ve seriously upped your game 💪🏼💥. This is a brilliant car but for £90k I’d take the new M5 all day long. It would trounce this M3cs especially with XDrive. This to me is purely a collectors showpiece or garage Queen 👸 👑. Keep up the cracking videos though Joe. Smashing it 👍🏼
Quality whip. I would have one if I had the money. Unfortunately, I don't so have to stick to waiting for the next Joe Achilles upload to help me fantasize what it would be like to own one!
Excellent review Joe - Honest, forthright and really well delivered - I have to say I love the CS and to see it driven properly in what is its main environment (track days not withstanding!), coupled with an excellent real world review was great to see. I hope you get chance to review the new M5 - I’d love to see abs hear your opinion on that beast too! - Top Work Fella! 👍👍👍👍
just watched this again, am sure the professional production, cool drone work, as Miles drive said, plus the undercoat primer makes this the ultimate M Car, can't wait to get mine, tomorrow - loving this limerock undercoat, , don't care what anyone else things, ok if runs out of fuel, I'll have to rive the Austin Allegro Equipe support car (which I can't see Joe ! ) :-)))
£100k is a bit much for this. Love the colour and wheels but I'd rather buy the competition pack and then buy the wheels lol. Until then..... I'll stick with my M140i 😁
Absolutely love your review on the CS and I do agree with a lot you say & said , but the main thing Is what people miss out is that the depreciation of these cars are nothing like CP and the normal M4 which I have . The extra money you pay for the CS in the long run , if you can afford it is better as you’ll hopefully get as much as you payed for it from new. Please let me know what you think Joe 👍🏻
great video Joe, i know exactly what you mean about the mlite being great 90% of the time, i have a M140i and a M5 and without doubt 90% of the time the m140i is good enough if not better in certain circumstances, however the M5 is never going!!
Yeah most of that money is going straight to the hood and the OLED taillights, which I'm surprised you didn't talk about. Wish I had that on my M3 Comp pack. Regardless, I did bolt ons & tune and the car is leagues above the cs in terms of smoother power delivery, 100 ish + hp, and better transmission response and speed. All for like less than 5k. I love that BMW stuck to their roots and made these bad boys so tunable and moddable.
at 0:56 literally where I was this holidays (lac de devesset) I'm french and I have a country side house like 20min far from there, like always great video and I love the spec on the car...cheers from France
I just saw the M3 CS review and the only thing I like better on tge M4 CS is the color. I will be getting a F80 M3 in about a year. Idk if I can swing the CS though, but I will try!!!
Superb video, nicely done. Really informative, well presented, detailed and nicely shot. Great work! Can’t understand how BMW can’t engineer more traction in to the M4, AMG don’t seem to suffer in the C63 quite to the extent that the M4 does. The price is crazy, in my mind the extras can’t quite be justified. Still, no doubting it’s a great car.
Just drove the AMG and bought the M because the AMG couldn’t stay connected. The AMG motor is really fantastic and a real treat to drive but the suspension doesn’t come close to the M. I also think the M motor is really underrated by Bmw as it feels closer to 500 hp than the 444 Bmw says it has in the comp pkg. The tuner company Dinan put it on a Dyno and said it was over 500 hp at the wheels which seems more realistic. Rick
The best blog, on a CS , this side of the Russian Federation !! - great drone shots, nice in limerock, I've got Satin Blue( same colour as Sam Marino blue but matted) lovely drivers car all day long, Joe is spot on, Cup 2s sticky tyres !!!! TG I've got them.
That has to be the best looking m4 I have ever seen. The GTS for me is just too much but this.... THIS is perfection.
Did Joe not know what tyres the car had before he went to that destination 😅
I really appreciate the lack of music in your videos, let the engine make the music and you do the talking. That's all I need! Great video!
BMW’s are so driver focused, love it
@@robertolombardi3698 Yep true
Was watching SOL (hard work) and then got your notification Joe. Thank you. I think I'm going to enjoy this.

Thanks man, yeah I try to be as honest as possible 👌

Thank you thank you thank you sir! Glad you like my stuff man 👊
Joe Achilles u need to somehow get into EVO and bring that channel back to life again... It was so flipping good when Jethro and team was on
Can’t believe this video is 4 years old..Really love this car. Thank you Joe! 🍀🙏🏽
Big part of the extra price went into the bonnet - yep, they are over 8k if you want to buy them separately. Love the overall appearance tho!
Ahh I thought it was something like that! Thanks for war hing legend 👊
4.5k brand new, with the extra gas trust you need total is around €4650-4700,-
still better than my Rcf they want $13k for the carbon hood
Misha Charoudin true. thing is, carbon fiber body panels aren't that hard to make if you've got the patience
Joe Achilles seen you in a M3cs in Misha's video can we expect a review on that soon?
Great video. This is how I like reviews being made; no music, being able to hear the car and an opinion coming from a proper petrol head. 👍🏻
Thanks Ollie 👌👊
Great review, well out of my price range but one can dream, so good to see a car from one of these channels being driven out on proper roads rather than messing about at 20 mph in London or like you say, constantly being wrapped 💤💤... Great to hear Paul! Thanks for watching my stuff, people like your good self gave gotten me to where I am... 👌
It sounds so good being driven like that, an engine like that is all about the low rev burbles. Great review👍
Quality review of a quality car. Love the cinematography, very premium feel, keep up the good work Joe!
great video Joe, best one I've seen on you tube TBPH really informative have even made notes as im getting a CS same colour next week !!!! way hey !! clearly bought the right m car then !!!.
Incredible car man, the cup 2 tyres really unleash the CS capabilities 👌👌
It’s great BMW have finally given you a car, hopefully the first of many! A great honest review as always 👍🏻
Yeah let's hope it continues buddy haha
Great to see BMW finally hook you up Joe! Some sick static drone shots too mate.
As expected. Raw, honest, experienced, no fucking about! Worth the wait
Haha thanks man 👌
Great video as always, Joe! Some of those views and sounds were incredible and really well captured. The comment about wrapping was also a nice touch!
Cheers man, had to be said haha
Love someone who actually drifts there cars and do it well, love the vid!

Great review Joe, thoroughly enjoyed! Good drone usage too 😎
Love that colour! I'd just buy the competition pack.
Thanks for the spin Joe! I agree with you both the location and the car...just mega!
It is a brilliant car but like you said you only need that type of torque power 10% of the time , so your m1 is the perfect car in my opinion!
Love that car, especially in that colour combination
I see you giving more attention to the cinematics as well. Beautiful
Awesome camera shots! Diligent production. Thank you for entertaining video. 🤘🏎

Dunno Josh, I can’t my power down on my c63s either, maybe it’s the pot holes everywhere!
Having extensively driven the new C63 i can confirm that it really does suffer with traction!!
