Great review. I owned one of these for about 9 months, using it hard on road and track. I sold it for a Rangey going into it's second winter, took a huge loss, but could now trade my Rangey back in for a used CS with less miles than mine... I thought it was a great car, one of the best front ends ever and a beautiful interior (though there was the odd rattle). It was practical (I could put my race bike in the boot with the seats down), taking kids or luggage as needed - a true GT (though quite loud as the sound insulation was removed). On track it was very good, it lacks a bit of top end power, so you have to use the torque, which I don't really like, but then it is primarily a road car. Nonetheless, it would still go head to head with very serious track specced cars and was capable of good times considering the road tyres. And they are road tyres BTW - they overheat pretty fast on a hot track. Conversely, on the road, it has too much torque - ok in perfect conditions, but slower (though fun) in the wet - this thing spins into 4th... I never had slow mis-shifts, but then I always ran the paddles in their fastest setting. While I had the car I considered chopping it in for a 991.2 GTS, which I test drove and was very disappointed by. The CS had the better interior, practicality, quality feel, specialness and driving edge. Now (early 2020) they are £55k for a low milage car - what a bargain.
Great review! It’s nice to see an /////AMG fan owning/driving/enjoying an ///M car! Yes, the regular M3/M4’s dashboard is not that different from their diesel counterparts, but the same can be said of AMG products since dashboards are not that different, i.e., C63 x C300, right? One can also get loads of Nappa leather on the regular M3/M4’s. Yes, storage space will be sacrificed. The M4 is already a compromise, the CS is even more so. I love Alcantara too! As the F8x is about to go out of production it’s hard to imagine they’d fit the car with anything but the analog gauges, which I’ll definitely miss once one can’t get anything but digital displays. Yes, BMW could’ve given CS owners a more up-to-date key, but then again, look at how long MB gave buyers that Daimler-Chrysler era key. Agreed! Sport/Sport+ steering modes are rubbish. I am disappointed to hear that is still true in the CS. Agreed! I don’t think the M3/M4 sound bad. ASM is unnecessary. Hmmm… My F80 M3 Comp Pack shifts on the dime. Specially in more aggressive shifting modes, off course. Yes, 90K is a bit much, but as you mentioned, it may very well keep its value as ///M cars usually do.
I actually went to a bmw dealership near me and the guy was so nice he started the car up and reved it and i fell in love with and he let me sit in the drivers seat. I hope i can get thus car one day 😍😍😍
That was an awesome review. You had so much info in it that i had to watch it a couple of times to really take in. You are absolutely right about the price. It is crazy expensive especially without a titanium exhaust or water injection added. I don't think they will sell too many. There are M4gts' that can be had for less than what this car is going for. I reckon that the M3cs will offer better value in terms of space, practicality and since it will be sold in limited numbers(1500). I guess the high prices will keep the demand down until they are all gone, only time will tell. Great looking car though and I hope we can now see some instrumental Vbox tests. The fact that they are limited to 1500 is exactly why enthusiasts will fight over them, my guy, there are people with money like dust out there who can even buy two of those, daily drive one and garage one and take it out after 20yrs where it will cost 3 times. You recall what happened to the 1M???? Exact same story with this one, may i rrcommend that you follow the EAG experience to appreciate what is happening to the 1M, the E39M5 the E30M3 etc, all the BMWs are appreciating in value..
I test drove one yesterday and got a hard on, lol. Such a fun car to drive. The only complaint I have is the doors with the straps but the thing has the most amazing brakes. It literally stops on a dime!

Crazy talk. The cars are aimed at the same market but satisfy different people. If you want an amazing sound, c63 all day. If you want more refined speed and don’t care for an amazing interior, m4. My problem with the higher end M cars is that they gut them, stick carbon fiber on them, then charge you 20-30k more.
Straight line - M3/M4 Track - M3/M4 Exterior - M3/M4 Sound - C63, unless you have M performance exhaust in which case its debatable. Interior - C63 Weight - M3/M4
You seemed like you were having issues with the shifting. Did you adjust the Drivelogic button to the most aggressive setting (3 bars)? That could be why it wasn’t shifting sharply. I know people love the M DCT for its super fast shifting so this is very surprising.
Couldn't agree more, it was priced way to high for what they actually did to it. I also find some of the "weight saving" pointless because it's counter acted by things that would have saved way more weight, for example the pull straps etc haha. Here's to hoping they make an M2 CS though and get the weight down below the launch car!

good vid..I have the M3cs on order right now...I had a 2017 M3 also and i am driving a 2017 C63s now(tuned) I do like how the BMW drives better..but like you the sound the AMG makes is so good. My dealer is a Porsche Audi and BMW dealer..theytook me to the track to drive the 911s 4s and GTS and i will say that the 911 is a great car..but at the end of the day i really do not love it so for that kinda money i want to keep looking at it like the first day i drove it. NOW the down side there is no Euro Delivery on the M3cs..( i have done 2 in the last 3 years) and I REALLY like the new M5 comp pack(and i can do euro delivey on it) I am so confused...hahaha well keep up the good work. I hang out with a few TH-camrs here in the states and run some rallys maybe someday our path will cross cheers
M50B25 Turbo 40 more bhp and 100 more nm of torque balances out the extra 150 kgs in my personal opinion. I wouldn’t say it’s faster, rather directly similar total power output
DirtyIraqi It’s actually more like 200-220kg difference, c63 is a very heavy car. 460hp on 1580kg is better than 510hp on 1800kg And the M4 CS was never intended as a drag racer it is designed to beat and outhandle everything on a track (which it does perfectly)

That kind of money I would be looking at Porsche. I been reading up on M4 and I went and snuck in the back of my local BMW dealer and spoke to the techs about the standard M4 and the mechanics said honestly it is pretty good car as far BMW’s go. Actually they told me the M4 has less problems then the M2 which I found rather odd due to the n55 is pretty bullet proof. M2 is in for service more. I could not take all their time up but I figured four techs giving it thumbs up 👍 was a good.
Slightly strange review. I admit I have not driven the M4 CS but did drive the M3 CS and that car is not even in the same bracket as an C63S. The M3 is on a different level alltogether, you feel the car 10x better, its sharper, around a track the difference is massive. The only debatable thing is the sound, which I would give to the C63. I have watched a ton of the M3 CS reviews and they are all hyperpositive so is there a difference in favour of the M3 compared to the M4??
I don't know exact prices but couldn't you fit the M4 Comp Pack with some M Performance items then it will be pretty much like the CS plus some new tyres possibly but against a Porsche you'd be mad to choose this over it ...

Lovely car but it’s not really practical you could get the comp and put the CS wheels on for 5k. Lovely colour I think it’s overpriced and I will be going for the comp and put the CS wheels on. Fantastic review you have pointed me in the right direction.
Really good from the outside, but jesus, BMW interiors have looked the same for over 10 years and this one especially looks really dated. That 90s style needs to change.
The interior is the same because this M4 CS is still related to the F30/F32 series which it’s based on! The M4 CS isn’t a new model but just a update of the older M4.
It's the F80/F82 style which started in 2014. With the base models of the 3 series from 2012, and 4 series a year later. Ofcourse it would feel outdated.
If one of those awesome tail lights burn out, how hard is it to replace? Do you have to replace the entire assembly? Is it something that only BMW can service? I just began learning about BMWs and cars in general so my apologies if this is an obvious or absurd question. Thank you.
Car that I can't afford, but if I had that type of money I'd go for a m4 competition pack. I just hate the fact that you need to close the doors with a rope. ( I know this module is more speced for the race track)
Tahbib Ahmed you might want to check autotrader mate, they are depreciating hard and fast. £88k base price, you’ll find them £10-15k cheaper depending on options with a few miles on the clock.
What would you prefer for the track only? CS or GTS? I don’t believe what everyone says about the GTS being a bad car. I have seen what a GTS can do on the track and I know how fast my regular M4 is on the track with some minor mods compared to my GT4 and GT-R.

Seems like overpriced boy racer stuff to me. If you are driving on the street just get a regular M4 and enjoy that.

the colour is really special to me and as well for the rear oled so gorgeous. other than that, not much cooler than m4 gts

For 90k I’d take a used Carrera S, rock solid depreciation too (or lack of it)
